Clarify Jets and VTOLs for Mod'ers?
martinezfg11 replied to scotg's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
So your post is a mixture of modding questions and gameplay stuff so I’ll answer the vtol damper question. All aircraft now use the class wheels physx. Same as a tank, car etc, only helos use old altradar stuff. As for vtol pitch roll yaw sensitivity, Mass distribution on the aircraft will determine how nimble it is when in VTOL mode. E.g more nimble with mass near center of aircraft. As for gameplay I would like to see them add a vtol mode that would work with a Sikorsky raider type aircraft. -
Well comparable aircraft to the Blackfish can self deploy with a ferry range of 2100 NM. The Osprey proved this by flying 6000 miles recently. (In-air refuel, of course)

martinezfg11 replied to [evo] dan's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Did you add preciseGetInOut=0? I'll take a look at your file later today or tomorrow. -
The only way you can do that is using the AttachTo command AFAIK.

Rear-wheel steering - is it possible with physX simulation?
martinezfg11 replied to eggbeast's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Is your wheelcenter memorypoint on the center of your model? I had this issue where on a rear steering aircraft, it would "crab walk" when turning at slow speeds, I had to offset the wheel center off to the side, and now it works better at low speeds. -
Ship/Vehicle GetIn GetOut Config Help
martinezfg11 replied to [evo] dan's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Look at my last edit. memoryPointsGetInDriverDir would simply be another vertex in the direction the player needs to be facing this is relative to memoryPointsGetInDriver. -

martinezfg11 replied to [evo] dan's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Driver memory points also require a direction. Also, make another mem point for the driver other than "engine1_axis". memoryPointsGetInDriver = where you need to be standing to enter memoryPointsGetInDriverDir = direction you need to be facing to enter Also from the cfgVehicles ref https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/CfgVehicles_Config_Reference ...preciseGetInOut Integer: Defines location of getin point. 0 = use memoryPointGetIn , 1 = use model center as get in point, 2 = use proxy of crew position as get in point. Default is 0. preciseGetInOut=0; //for vehicle crew cargoPreciseGetInOut=0; // for passengers -
This is a gem of a post.. Helped answer a lot of questions..

The 0-100 throttle doesn't work well for vtol's. the vtols tend to need a sharp rise in throttle as they transition from airplane flight to hover. And if your not paying attention or task saturated you can find yourself descending to fast or ascending due to over compensation. Perhaps some automatic adjustments would be nice for the VTOL to keep descent rates when the aircraft loses lift and requires thrust compensation. just like the real thing.

Vehicle Creation Tips/Advice?
martinezfg11 replied to Kyancyan's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'll tell you right now that there will be hours of research and frustration. Especially when working with object builder. Also as Flinty said, the A3 samples are very helpful. Also using Mikeros tools to see the "real world" application and setting up your P drive. Feel free to PM me I wouldn't mind helping out the best I can. -
