  1. Not sure about the in-game accuracy, but the Lee Enfield was a superbly accurate rifle. It was used in UK for many years after WW2 as a competition rifle, my great uncle used to shoot with a LE out to half a mile+ (over 1000 yards) at Bisley ranges. And yes it was also incredibly fast firing for a bolt action - there's a WW1 story of a platoon of British infantry firing their Lee Enfields so rapidly that the Germans reported being under automatic fire.

    ACE for OA 1.13

I see that CQB mode (looking over top of weapon sights) is in the deleted features list. The ACE docs say something about instead using OA's inbuilt CQB mode - can't find how to use this, can anyone help?
  3. Exactly, some people just don't like a challenge (and are too lazy to alter difficulty settings). The new AI is a hugely impressive achievement IMO and forms the cornerstone of the ARMA experience.

    Please share your 1.60 impressions

Reinstalled Arma2 to try out the new patch - hugely impressed by the near total absence of multiplayer lag/warping and even more so by the evident improvements in enemy AI. Been having a real blast playing Insurgency against these sneaky buggers! Brilliant work, BIS!
  5. A greater range of behaviours for enemy AI to create a more authentic experience, e.g: More aggressive shouting to squadmates (esp. from squad leader) Wounded animations (e.g limping, clutching limbs, writhing instead of dying instantly) Screaming and yelling when hit RUNNING into and out of buildings, up stairs/ladders(!) JUMPING from low rooftops DIVING into cover Panic firing/blind firing for suppression More shoot and scoot: never staying still on open ground for more than a few seconds Panicking civilians (huddling in buildings for cover)

    J.S.R.S. 1.5

Amazing work Jarhead, truly amazing - I just reinstalled Arma2 after a long break and played Insurgency on veteran with your mod..... I was simply astounded by the quality of the sound canvas engulfing me. I can only imagine the hours of work you must have put in, so THANK YOU very much for taking Arma2 to the next level (and please stick around for Arma 3 :) ) Donation sent! Arma 2 - greatest game in the universe

    Quite literally: LOL
  8. Sigh, guess I HAVE to reinstall Arma2 now... standby for repeat addiction :) Thanks to BIS and the whole community! Mandrake

    SAMs

Armaverse aircraft need extra hitpoints because of the arcade-like ease of getting hits with MANPAD or Zsu... it's a chicken and egg situation. To rectify this, there first needs to be more skill required in deploying/aiming SA weapons... but then again this is unlikely given BIS's commercial need to attract casual gamers to the product. Ho hum.

Why should I buy your game ?

@OP: 1. Await demo. 2. Download and play demo. 3. Decide.

    My Suggestion: K.I.S.S.

Agree with the OP on all points. In order to progress, the Armaverse should focus in on its unique selling points, one of which (and the best IMO) is the ability to place the player in the middle of large-scale, dynamic combined arms operations...this is what sets Arma apart and is where development resources should IMO be focussed. To this end, the inclusion of extra AI routines to streamline the order-giving process and make AI units adapt their posture automatically to the terrain around them is a particularly good suggestion. Faffing around with complex command menus in critical situations often breaks the '4th wall' and therefore reduces 'fun', so I really hope BIS prioritise this idea... Mandrake

    Apache artificial horizon

Agree, if people want to analyse every flaw in the flight aspects of OA we'll be here all day... remember its an arcade game whenever you climb aboard an aircraft :) Excuses? Its by light years the best infantry simulator on the market, and has been for 10 years.

    Insurgency

Another request: please give a WARNING before kicking OPFOR for being too close to BLUFOR base... it is impossible to avoid this as their base keeps moving. When you get too close, there should be a message KEEP AWAY or something.

    Insurgency

Fair point, but I don't want to 'win' as OPFOR, I just want to be even more of a pain to the BLUFOR ;) Snipers are pretty standard harrassing units and have been a major problem to Nato forces in Afghan, so I think they def should be in 'Insurgency' :)

    Insurgency

Played this for first time last night, brilliant mission/concept. I remember humbly suggesting something similar back in the A1/Evo blue days but this is worth the wait :) Suggestion: I think the OPFOR should have a dragunov or two (at least something with a scope). Was outnumbered 12 BLUFOR vs 2 OPFOR last night and we didnt have much chance with just iron sighted AKs/Lee Enfield.

    JTD Hide

What an ingenious idea - thanks!

    Logitech G35 headphones + Arma?

Not sure where to post this so...... Anyone tried these with Arma yet? I've read that their 7.1 surround performance is excellent, but ONLY if the game supports full surround, so I guess my question is, does Arma?

    New aircraft damage? Please?

+1 this needs sorting out IMO
  19. A real shame, as I wanted to see all the BAF units shown off in all their splendour :o: Yeah I know I could make one but that's not the point. Feeling a bit depressed. Just going to sit down for a bit. Sigh... OK I'm over it. The Brit units still absolutely rock balls though :D

Anybody else find the M6 Linebacker useless?

IR missiles aren't for BVR... I agree with the OP, Linebacker should be using its AA missiles on anything flying and its cannon as back-up or to defend itself against ground attack.

    Better Server Config?

Hi guys, I'm in a similar boat - don't want to be negative but I think that arma2oaserver.exe only uses 1 core atm so its impossible to make full use of a dual or quad CPU in a server - I might be (and dearly hope) I've got this wrong though. I asked about this in the Beta testing forum but no answer yet... Anyway, I hope somebody more knowledgable than me gives you some useful tips as I will be eagerly watching... Cheers Mandrake
  22. obvious, but checked firewall settings in case something updated or changed?

Why can't anyone connect to my game?

in your Arma2 directory (or the server's if it's remote) you should see a file called ban.txt. Just delete this (or you can edit it to remove individual user id's). Remember to keep checking it though as it will fill up again!
  24. This is still a big problem for me, the timed-out signature check is causing havoc on my server, over 50% of all players get kicked and or banned, I even got banned this morning and had to reset my own server (I was able to play fine last night with exact same mods) before joining it. I really hope that someone has an explanation/solution for this, it's getting ridiculous.
