    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

Even Tier 1 are under heavy regulations, at least in the US case (the units under JSOC, that include among others DEVGRU and Delta). Heck JSOC has a big legal department itself. There have been even some cases of JSOC operators gone wild that made illegal stuff and punished for it. The Israel and Russian cases are different, as they wouldn't fit my "democracy" definition, hence they have a broad approach, but at least in the Mossad case they have some legal limitations.

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

I wonder then way so many "secret agencies and specops" complain so much about legality and impossibility to take certain actions due to legal restrains... In my experience with special ops operators and intelligence agencies, they are really bind to legality too, their own, but they are; and if they act beyond they may face consequences. It's not like in Tom Clancy's books, it's all pretty much bureaucratic. I can't talk for Russia and Israel tho, as haven't had any experience with them.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

It can be used up to 8,000m (as in real life) and it auto-destroys at about that range. maxControlRange=8000; timeToLive=20; (20 sec at 450m/s) Have in mind possible Arma engine limitations related to your graphic settings.

OT but in democratic countries, soldiers are to obey only legal orders, which is not a free for all, and obviously not blindly.

What Makes a Good Arma Campaign?

I'm all for immersion, I like logic settings, they don't have to be realistic, but at least believable and accurate (Game of Thrones for instance). That requires a logic story were crazy things may happen but they are build on a background. For example, practically no historical military or paramilitary operation has been done done solo. Rambos exist only in movies. I personally rather play with a bit of flawed IA than Also I like when mission makers reproduce the different conditions military find, from climate, logistics, traffic accidents, intelligence collection, civilian evacuations and care, etc. After all wars are rarely fought in barrens, there're endless environmental factors that affect military operations. A supply chain cut can mean the defeat of a big military force, as without food and ammo can't fight long. A big storm can keep helicopters down, hence less CAS and less supplies. Civilians living in the house close to a HVT can mean switching from a bombing solution to a spec op assault. Etc. In addition, it feels cool when other units operate in the same area of operations as the player, it shows an organic battlefield. One game that really good most of this stuff right was Operation Flashpoint and it's expansion Resistance. It didn't try to sanitise war. You were just one expendable fool, that knew few, and got to find his own way through all kinds of stuff. There's million other factors to have in mind, but I think logic and common sense in storytelling, is what makes a good campaign. On a side note, to me voice acting helps a lot, as reading texts on a screen can lead to miss some information, specially in fights. That's why I rather have voice overs, even if they are robotic ones.

    - Blades of Glory - USMC autorifleman, with Task Force Red Hammer 16.7, takes a knee during a simulated ambush attack, Tanoa, July 10, 2016. (RHS photo by ilPadrino) * That specific Marine is really fond of aim-point scopes, that's the reason of odd scope choice.
  7. Sometimes PR is everything, specially after having a bad reputation for having betrayed NATO.
  8. Same could be said in a way of the real life Fiji... But they are one of the countries that participate more in UN peacekeeping missions around the globe, even when there was turmoil and coups d'etat in their home turf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiji_and_the_United_Nations#Peacekeeping

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

Well, all things considered the aesthetics and presentation are pretty nice (I really mean it, I'd even pay for that map). In your case I'd probably start with pa, and end with ska or start with vitt... I'd also mention that the missions are impossible to fail, so those who don't want much challenge will enjoy it. In addition, if you enjoy playing solo, rambo style, without breaking a sweat, this is definitely a good campaign to play. So basically I'd recommend it to those who are not interested much in serious military FPS, want to enjoy a really wonderfully made island, and don't mind pouring some important bucks for a couple hours enjoyment. BTW tell me what magazine and when is it gonna be out, that I'll check my closest R-kioski. - - - The beginning of the first mission should definitely change, I forced a couple of my mates to play the mission and both followed the couple of AIs. There should be a hint that specifically say: do not follow the AI guys, they are not part of your team.

    Apex Vehicles Feedback

Given that I've a really poor sense of humour, I guess I missed the joke... VTOLs controlled by the AI crash before even trying to get airborne, and that's in the airport... Go to Eden, spawn one of the Blackfishes in the Tuvanaka airfield and give him a way-point 500 m in front of it (towards South-West)... The AI will inexplicably incline the aircraft to the right, trying to reach North, crash and explode... (That happens 40% of the times, 50% it gets damage from the maneuver and 10% it simply flies north). On the other hand, don't you dare to use the way-point land or unload cargo anywhere, as it will definitely crash. That's all with the last RC...

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

Not yet, when they turn it into a pbo then yeah. If BI authorises the distribution. In any case it's played in Tanoa, so only APEX owners can play it.

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

I'm afraid that right now it's only available in the dev branch, not in the sneak preview.

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

BI are trying to turn Arma into BF / CoD, but those who want that kind of games prefer the originals. While doing so are losing part of their long-time followers.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

It's not like that. The caliber is one of the factors, but in rockets the warhead as baker commented matters the most.9mm Parabellum is broader but shorter 9x19mm (ergo less penetration) and 7.62 NATO is actually 7.62 x 51mm, thiner and longer. But again what's inside its what defines the penetration, you need something dense like lead or uranium covered by something that doesn't deform easily like copper. The dense material is the one that pushes and he shape assists with the piercing.

That's what I thought too, but Zipper5 precisely stated what were their design preferences.

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

I think they are all valid points (both yours and Varanon's). Although I understand that the release it's set for next week (that's why it's IMHO preferable to release stuff in dev branch with time), I hope BI takes some notes and implement some improvements in the next weeks, after all that's one of the best features of the Arma series, the continuous support and improvements. You can see how Arma 2 and 3 vanilla campaigns were on day one and how they evolved. Funnily enough at this moment, I mainly play Arma MP Coop 90% and 10% SP, but I haven't been able to convince any of my friends, coop mates and sim-group mates, to play the APEX protocol with the nowadays game-play design (even if most of them, as Arma enthusiasts own APEX and have the dev installed). It's a real shame as I tend to be an avid player of coop games, for instance I played and replayed the different Gears of Wars campaigns in coop dozens of times (and had the hop in feature), same with Arma 2 and many other games (yeah both on PC and consoles).

Many times, specially in the first and second missions in the jungle areas. Also AI "stuck" in certain locations (most probably disableAI "PATH").

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

First say that the explanation is appreciated. I may disagree in many points but I appreciate it. Although the Splendid Arma 3 MP engine, allows precisely to enable or disable the AI in the empty slots. Which is the perfect solution that allows all possibilities for all kinds of players. And it doesn't suppose any extra effort on the maintenance side. A generic role could be applied in that case. I really hope that option is considered, as it's already build-in in the engine and would really improve the campaign :)

Could you please send a feedback report (you can find the link in my signature)? Write there, what version of Arma 3 and RHS are you using. If you are using other mods, etc.

    Co-op Campaign: APEX PROTOCOL

We'll have in mind to that it's theoretically W.I.P, so some changes may still happen (let's pray). Although some more time in the dev branch would have benefited it.
  21. I'm pretty sure the nice people of VTN will release it once its done :)

How much would you recommend the Apex Expansion?

The map is by all means something I'd recommend. IMHO the best map of the OFP/Arma series. Really well made, some buildings are non-enterable tho. The content is quite good, has a lot of nice things (mainly civilian stuff and traditional weapon systems; the VTOL still need some love tho). So I'd recommend it too. The Co-op campaign in its nowadays status. Can't really recommend it, unless you are a big fan or you enjoy super-arcade FPS. - - - - - You said that in your opinion the map alone is not worth it, and the weapons and content can be already found in other mods, so probably in your case, I'd say it's not worth it.
