Tanoa discussion (Dev-Branch)
CaptainAzimuth replied to pettka's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Jesus Christ, GUYS, It's TANOA DISCUSSION, Not Reveal discussion of everything that has been uncovered! Take it to the reveal thread, and keep this one clean for reporting issues, when they arise. -

Via Twitter, they said more Intel this week, and then stated release date during the PCGamer show. So I would half be wishful for thinking the Diary or some kind of reveal comes tomorrow, or at least minor info on the Expansion, before the show later this month. But perhaps the whole purpose of the show is the final Hype piece, so on the contrary, Bi have us fully bambo---- Oh!!!! Man down! Don't go, argh, don't go... Over to... Dev Branch discus---- *falls over*

I can only hope that's place holder. If I catch Altis FIA on Tanoa, it'd be proving the copy pasta has returned. I'm not too too upset about the Retexture of the CTRG uniform, BUT, I really hope they at least properly retouched it, because the Knee Pads on the darn thing are simply a flat texture, and it looks awful. Side note, Pointing Feature Confirmed!

Though it does bear similarity to the Huron, it doesn't look nearly as good as the concept was, which also looked to be armed, or having an armed variant. This one looks... Well, smaller, and kinda stubby... Though my biggest concern is that they chose of all things to show a small zodiac. Perhaps this means it's the only boat they added in, which would be utterly disappointing. -.-#

That's not productive criticism. That's just straight up exaggeration. -

Because of my video settings. I don't exactly have the best PC at the moment. Anyhow though, the night looks fine. Some light sources do need tweaking as we already found out since its inception, but otherwise we don't need it to start looking like Battlefield 3 night maps. The visuals look realistic and that's what counts. Tweaking with other little things will always be an available option to improve the look. -
Eeeww, that VTOL doesn't look attractive at all. In fact, it looks completely different than the concept art, at least from the bottom. The wings... I guess are ok, but the main body doesn't look very good. Though I guess we'd have to see it more in detail before we can really judge it. =\

I don't see and issue with the night... http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/255956943945063384/DCA03B8349372107A5EC6BE04FE9733C45E91B37/ -
Hehe, nah it's ok. I'll wait for the BI tailored ones. I like they way their seating is set up. Hmmm, i wonder if that'll be an option too in Virtual garage, changing it from inner 4 seats, to 6 seats, so on.

Guys i swear, i feel like it's looking like some kinda of Action Hero game, in some modern Tropical nation. Looks Epic AF. Sigh, the glory i would have if I were half as skilled as you modders out there. <3 -
Content without Performance isn't playable.

Woah Woah, hey now, i play Exile and Wasteland and receive 50-60 FPS depending on the host. It's not the Game mode, it depends on who is running it, and how they're running it. ;) -
Yup, already requested that myself a long time ago. But judging by their concepts, i think BI have their own plans. The Polaris though, is actually the best looking (western) LSV.
-
Hehe, i find it quite apparent that with modern technologies, comes modern aesthetic. Heck, i believe that one Aerospace Engineer said once, "If it looks good, it'll fly good too", i believe that was pertaining to the current F-22. But anyhow, though, most ULCV's (LSV's) look good, the Flyer is the only one, that in my opinion, does't really look bad per say, it's just that it looks like it would be more of just a regular vehicle with a roll cage. Doesn't look very light, but just lighter than a full blown MRAP or Armored Car, if you know what i mean.

Attempting to re-create Singapore using VR Blocks. Lmao. -
I know, i was just saying that as sort of a context thing. Lets be honest, there's alot of things that Arma 3 has that have real life applications we currently don't see in game either. There just... there. I was thinking it shouldn't be any different for a 30mm on an LSV. =P Tuesday. We all know BI is off on the weekend.

BI has stated if you want help, as a modder correcting your map based on the new visual effects, you can just ask them, literally. Not sure why this is still an issue. Either you want to fix it or you don't. But to be honest, perhaps everyone should just give BI some breathing room, because APEX is the core pillar of attention right now, despite them still helping the community here and there. They're trying to get us what they've been working so hard on for probably a little over 2 years now. -
On the contrary, wouldn't they just remove the 30mm system and carry it on board the aircraft separately and just re-assemble when it's dropped off? I mean that's what it sounds like the guy is implying.
-
I don't really like the look of the flyer... I just like that it's got a freaking 30mm cannon on top. Lmao.

I apologize for the lag ahead of time, i'm still working on getting a new rig. No scripts were used in the making of this short video. Basically, this proves that wheeled vehicles (light enough) are capable of being transported via. Sea, in various conditions, and be a valuable aspect of gameplay, also in various conditions. This can be fun, and interesting, and intuitive if every feature of the game is looked at instead of over looked, and can provide better feeling over all for the game as a whole platform, that already has features people don't even know were there without heavy work-a-rounds, or scripts. Everything is done by the game engine, collisions controlled via. Lods, and Physics (or PhysX) handles the rest. This means that if you're carrying heavy equipment, you can flip, lose equipment overboard, or even flip and lose your life, just like you would IRL if you were to drive recklessly with heavy equipment.

Yup, i agree. Especially with the new visual update. Ended up throwing on one of the best existing jungle maps and doing a little example of how to deal with River ops without NVG's.

What if i told you that advanced and realistic, aren't synonymous. In other words, that picture with the hunter is more realistic than the OFP picture. I can tell you from experience, the headlights on my car don't light up anything but whats directly in front of me, and they avoid illuminating up to high, so as not to blind the people driving 2 car lengths in front of me. Most vehicles are designed this way and have been for a long time, and of course, only using high beams would result in excess illumination of the environment. -
