Tu-199/Yak 131 and Other Fixed Winged Possibilities
CaptainAzimuth replied to Largos.'s topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
First off, you mentioned the Yak-131 being Chunky. The Original Yak-130 was also designed Originally as an Air to Air Fighter Trainer to replace the L- Class Fixed wing, such as the L-39 Albatros, and superior to the Super Albatros (ALCA), and they came up with the Yak-131 to be fitted with a CAS capable loadout.. You'd be dead wrong to believe the Yak cannot dogfight, as it would probably swat an F-35 out of the sky with a skilled pilot. Second, I do believe most of these subjects have been touched on in an already existing Forum topic, if im not wrong, by older post along the lines of "2 Fixed Wing Aircraft Remain, What if?". Might want to do some reading in that post. -
Why are much more people playing Arma 2?
CaptainAzimuth replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This is my input. For now, Arma 2 is "The" Finished game. And yes, while it is older than Arma 3, its the reason most people know Bohemia Interactive due to things like modding, and sandbox ability, more content, and features. I do however believe that soon, in months time, or maybe as stated earlier; a year from now, there will be alot more people joining Arma 3, or switching over, because of features, and implementations that are currently not in, but planned through out the future timeline for Arma 3. The Engine is capable of alot of things, and i have hope that we can expect to see some of those cool things in the future. -
Ahahaha, you guys make this sound like the wholly grail of difficulty. This mission wasn't too hard for me, in fact, I've pulled off more dangerous tasks online in Wasteland. Hehe

Anyone know what gun he is holding, it doesn't look like anything currently in, but I honestly can't tell.

Adding weapons to vehicles removed in arma 3?

Any updates on this yet? This doesn't seem to be working for me. -
Ways of dealing with Desyc (AKA, the Yellow/Red Chain)
CaptainAzimuth posted a topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Just now. Literally, driving down the road in on a server, my friend in front in a Zamak truck, and me in back with an Offroad. We both had valuable supplies in our vehicles. I was following 2 car lengths behind him, when, out of nowhere, my truck was suddenly rammed into his truck at what felt like over 300 mph, causing us BOTH to instantly explode. This there a better way Desync can be handled? What do you guys think, and have you guys had any similar events occur? -
Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- DISCUSSION
CaptainAzimuth replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
OMG, this. THIS! This makes me wish i were a scripting prodigy to create a mode like this. Also, civi stuff, like the ones they showed in E3 showcases. The patrol trucks had working strobe lights just like the boats do now. Civilian heli's (different kinds) like a gyrocopter. Civi aircraft (Not cessna's, their too common) like an RV-7. -
Why can ammo trucks only carry ridiculously small amounts of ammo?
CaptainAzimuth replied to Niklas's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I've noticed this as well, in a server where there are no service points, me and a squad made our own base, with re-arm, fuel, and ammo trucks. Unfortunately, it ran short, because the ammo truck could not supply me enough ammo to do even just 2 sorties. Very unfortunate. Niklas, you should make a ticket about this on the feedback tracker. -
I'm guessing a chinese terrain. Seeing as CSAT is China, Russia, and Iran... Maybe get to see some QBZ-95's and more over, RIVERS. Rivers, and dense forests and mountain peaks or something, idk. Would be cool.

Ok, so most of you Arma players out there love to do long range work. Sniping, or just flat out shooting with your standard 5.56 or 7.62. I, however, seem to have a problem. When i go on sniper mission, i like a light load, but at the same time, i need something... powerful enough to actually kill my enemy with one shot. Regular 7.62 isn't cutting it, and i don't want to haul a .50 Cal around with me all the time, because the damned thing is so heavy. So, i came up with multiple solutions. What is it you may ask? BIS, Please, Bring back .338 rounds. While yes, some rifles that use .338 can be just as heavy as a .50 sniper, there are some future designs out there that could be put to great use with .338, that would fit the needs of a light recon unit. That's the main option. The other option, is variety of bullets. I've looked around the web, and looked at Arma 3's bullet choice. Yeah, 6.5 is ok, for basic infantry. 7.62 is even better, but still not the best for long range, as it may take a few shots, unless you get a lucky bulls eye. Well, what if they added Armor Piercing 7.62 ammunition to the list. There are tons of AP rounds for all types of ammunition out there, including .338, and it would be interesting to see these be put into use in A3. Here Are Some Examples of .338 Rifles. C14 Timberwolf http://i41.tinypic.com/1ym28.jpg (514 kB) Other .338 Layouts http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3c/Mini_Hecate_338.jpg (335 kB) http://www.olegvolk.net/gallery/d/43168-1/B338_sitting_0960.jpg (1166 kB) .338 can also be used for Law enforcement Long Range Rifles in Altis, and at checkpoints with AP rounds for taking out engine blocks. Some .338 rifles also have Short versions for Law enforcement use.

How likely for TOH content to be placed into arma3?
CaptainAzimuth replied to dezkit's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well, your looking at it from a perspective of players using Helos... Watch an AI fly one with that flight model, tell me how well it does. Probably just one of the reasons it wasn't put in first. -
Not too Heavy, Not too Light, JUST Right.
CaptainAzimuth replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Not looking for an addon, this is in regards to whether or not you think it would be good to implement different types of varying ammo for different guns, and adding some much needed, "In between" fire power. (.338, the bridge between 7.62, and .50 cal IMHO) ---------- Post added at 15:55 ---------- Previous post was at 15:55 ---------- I shot a guy twice yesterday with the MK17 RCO... he turned and shot me ounce with Stanag, center, and i died. Maybe it was lag, idk. -
Not too Heavy, Not too Light, JUST Right.
CaptainAzimuth replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes, NATO does lack a light Long Range rifle, but as stated in the topic, yes the rifle is light, but regular 7.62 rounds aren't as potent at long ranges. .338 rifles would fit the need of any light recon unit, and would pack the stopping power to get the job done. ---------- Post added at 19:08 ---------- Previous post was at 18:00 ---------- To be honest, the regular .50 cals are not Anti Material. They're regular .50 cals. Though, you can get ASPDS rounds for the Lynx and LRR, (i think for the LRR, correct me if i'm wrong) and then, that makes them Anti Material. -
Don't under estimate CSAT... Lol, jk. Still, you have a point. Lightning wont hurt a tank, whether its guided by a channel of low resistance through the air or not. Though, vehicles like cars, and quad bikes can be easily put out of commission with a wep like that... How lightning can be thrown into Arma 3 as a weapon though... is beyond me. I think it's some fancy editing, or, just happened to have lightning strike at the same time a tank was blown up...

The AAF Tank is freaking amazing!
CaptainAzimuth replied to shifty_ginosaji's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well, to be honest, the Kuma should be better, if not second best. If you look up the Leopard it's based off of, its pretty much like a Tank, but with EXTRA armor. Some kind of upgrade armor all around the tank. The turret, the sides, and back, from, just a bit. Over all though, it's far more armored than the original Leopard. In terms of it's opponents, not sure. But the Kuma shouldn't go down in one shot, IMHO. -
You have a point... Lol. Oh well, when it comes, it comes.

Armor & Penetration: how it works & how it could work
CaptainAzimuth replied to olds's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
What about correct implementation of Angles on a tank? For instance, the T-100 around the gunner has plates of armor angled up, and around. What someone shot, missed, and hit that plating at an angle. Now, this is where either the round has a possibility of bouncing due to Caliber, and what kind of round it is. NOTE: This should be in General Discussion. -
Stay tuned, the Dev update should be out probably by early tomorrow.

You never know, it could have been a synchronized attack from the new T-100 Vursuk Lightning II! >=D http://media.moddb.com/images/groups/1/3/2074/arma3_screenshot_1107_009.jpg (603 kB) *lol*

CaptainAzimuth replied to shifty_ginosaji's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Ahhh, i see. Would love to see the terminator take place of the T-100 in that case. Though, the Merkava, is a very good and durable tank design, can't honestly see anything replacing it... Unless maybe the new Polish tank with Thermal Camo... Idk, it's hard to choose what to put in place of current tanks. -

Both wrong. The Kuma, is basically the Leopard 2, or based off of it. -
New year, some have new goals, some the same. Then there are those who over slept. I sure did, ok, lets get to the point. Quote from Dna - The next SITREP will be send on 14.01.2014. Have a great winter holiday! So, despite the fact... 3 days later, still no announcements, what do you guys think we can expect for A3 this year? Or, what do you guys think BIS has in store for us for this year? What kind of improvements do you expect to see in the game, or even the engine? Keep On Topic, as this is simply a General Discussion. Keep it respectful. Thanks! =3

Somewhere back in older posts, i think they mentioned the ability to edit a soldiers gear from inside the Mission Editor (without scripts), which i am 100% in favor of. -

This, yes. BI should not balance. BI should focus on more realism aspect (by this, i mean create vehicles that factions use, based upon their real life counterparts), and the server owner, or mission maker sorry, does the balancing.
