First of all Id like to say that this is a brainstorm Ive had over the past few weeks that Ive decided to put towards the community. Its a project proposal basically.
We've been very fortunate to get given lots of US Military assets - we have the Air Force mod, multiple different Army & Marine mods and lots & lots of small addons depicting vehicle systems, firearms, uniforms, etc. However out of the 5 main service branches of the US Armed Forces there is 1 very important branch that's yet to be presented as a whole mod package - the US Navy.

Over the course of some time, this mod (inspired by the USAF mod) will add Navy assets both current and future. Ive considered also doing Coast Goard and that maybe done at a later time. As I've figured, the best way of tackling the issue of adding in multiple large warship vessels into Arma is to contact already experienced mod makers in the community who've released or are working on releasing US Navy vessels if they want to participate in the development of this mod by contributing their creation basically creating an all-in-one Navy pack to be everyone's go to mod for US Navy assets.
By no means am I capable of doing this mod by myself - Ive read a lot about how the Arma engine doesnt like very large objects (ships) and how its troublesome to get units to walk on moving objects, thus the idea of combining the brain power and knowledge of experienced modders make something great together.
WIP Features list:
- Navy flagship: Nimitz-class Carrier
- OHP-class Frigate: A2 Gnat's
- Arleigh Burke- class Destroyer
- Wasp-class LHD: Chortles port
- LA-class Submarine: A2 Gnat's
- Naval Special Warfare Command operators (SEALs, Assault boats, SDV, etc)
- MH-60S: A2 port
- Seahawks: A2 YuraPetrov's
- F-35C: USAF mod's
- E2C Hawkeye: A2 OFrP
!notice that nothing in the above lists is set, rather its something like how I envision the mod would look like. There will be lots of PMs being sent out to the respective addon makers about their willingness in participating. No permission = no inclusion into the mod until an alternative can be sourced.
If anyone out there is interested in participating with the project and have something of any size (big or small) related to the Navy that they'd like to contribute please dont be afraid to leave a comment below or shoot me a PM! Meanwhile Id appreciate any comments/suggestions/concerns/recommendations from the community as to what you think about this project.

Im doing 2 LPD's - one US one and one EU one to complement the armor deployment package (i.e make it a complete 'ship to shore' solution) but aircraft carriers fall a little outside this scope and given the mammoth undertaking that just making 2 LPDs is going to be i doubt i will have time to commit to an aircraft carrier. A higher priority will be adding similar equipment for russian/other sides although I'd need to do a lot more research before commiting to that as i know very little about russian equipment beyond tanks/small arms.Russian Navy are purchasing a few Mistral-class LHDs off France (mostly built in Russia). Their hovercraft fleet is rather interesting too - like the Zubr class. But for the most part Russian Naval forces still use old Soviet gear that date back to the cold war times like their destroyers, frigates, helicopters (KA-27s), etc.
Out of curiosity which particular LHD are you modelling for the EU forces?

I respect your position to stick with whatever you wish, as it is your addon afterall. But I personally feel, with the current camo schemes you are using, that this represents any other faction BUT Army. The point I believe Modder was trying to point out, was not that BDU or DCU would be more recent, but that they are still widely seen used by Special Operations forces, including those of the Army...regardless of how old they are. Granted, this may not be the look you want for infantry-based forces, but if that's the case why not switch over to (the much hated) ACU or Multicam Patterns? Navy AOR or MARPAT camo's are meant for Navy and Marines...not sure why you would want this for Army forces.If this is just an issue of personal preference, then have at it, as there is no right/wrong choice. But if you are truly wanting to depict Army forces in an accurate way, I don't believe AOR or MARPAT would be anywhere in the uniform selection. Once again, this is only my opinion and don't mean for it to be taken harshly. Also, if you are still having trouble with the vehicle classes in the config, shoot me a message and I'll help you get it sorted.
Basically this sums up all I was trying to say.
If its too many camo's to choose from then I'll just stick to Multicam or Scorpion - whichever you believe is better. Realistically the Army's transitioning to Scorpion and it is replacing UCPs.

Are you also going to reskin the helmet and vests in this camo and a cap like in the above pic? I do like the woodland combo too tho dont get me wrong.

Hey dezkit, FYI the red kangaroo on the side of the ship is an indication that its an Australian ship. New Zealand ones have a Kiwi bird (low IR so it seems). Perhaps you can rename this ship to HMAS Anzac and reskin another one for a proper Te Kaha?

Not really sure on those textures, think they could use a bit more work. Too much contrast maybe? Just doesnt look right.
Since when have the British used Merkava tanks? I thought they had Challengers.
Consider porting or making British MRAPs. Maybe Ridgeback's, Foxhound's or other MRAPs used in Afghanistan.

I know where your coming from but with all of the recent combat from the middle east, the most common camo's found there are digital. Therefore the old BDU's and DCU's are from older conflict like Vietnam, so I think the statement saying its more recent in incorrect, but I may be wrong.So for the time being I m sticking with the digital camos.
Didnt say it was more recent. The BDU dates back to then however the DCU is more recent than that - it was developed after the Desert Shield/Storm to replace the chocolate chips camo. Although retired in the Army, Marines and USAF, Navy and Coast Guard still use them because they're actually good camo's unlike UCP. I read once that the US Army was considering bringing back the BDU to replace ACU's, amongst other contenders. If you really want to go with a modern feel then I think US4CES would be the way to go.

I've been using this mod for a while, and I'm looking forward to the update as well.Anyways, if you want to do something joint with me (seeing as China and Iran are allies in the same CSAT), maybe we can team up to make some stuff. Let me know if you're interested.
That would be one of the best things to happen to Opfor - rarely does CSAT get much love these days understandably lol.

I have not had a look at AGM (I really should, at least so I know what people are talking about haha), so I can't really give an answer about the conflict thing...but conflicting code is always a possibility.
We are not trying to recreate ACE or make an ACE replacement :)
We are just making a series of modules in an effort to increase the immersion and playability of ArmA.
There will be similarities however, as both our mod, ACE, and others are all doing some similar things.
I can see that both mods complementing each other quite nicely to enhance the Arma 3 experience - apart from new medical systems which both mods implement in which case either or will have to be used in-game. AGM additions like backblast, wind deflection, weapon resting, FCS for vehicles, jumping, map tools and adjustable NVGs makes the game more realistic and immersive while CSE adds another layer to that with enhanced logistics, command and control, enhanced interaction with the world and people, new gadgets and gizmo's (Trackers, tablets etc) + what looks like a superior medical system (not sure as Im not a medic and havent tried both medical systems). So both mods really have the potential to gel together nicely and make one heck of an immersive experience out of A3. :)

Feel free to release your temp fix. I am getting close to finishing the update, but as with anything arma related there are always 6 extra steps to get things working the way you want.New update should include a few new variants of the MK18's and some new sounds.

The Aussie SOTG A2 units would look great with these rifles. Do you have any plans to port them over sometime in the future?

I feel the M88 looks nicer, but I think the ACH is the standard helmet at the moment so I am more leaning towards the ACH.
What is everyones thoughts?

Also I feel that the new Marpat Woodland 2001 is too yellow, and not enough green. What do you guys think would be a good substitute?
Cant even tell any major differences by looks so its up to you.

Very weird, apparently AiA isnt even running. Ive got a collection in Pw6 of the 51km^2 desert map with AiASA lite and I use the program to launch it. :confused:

I like the Oakley goggles they have strapped on to their helmets. Reckon its possible to have it so that the goggles can come down to the soldiers face from the action menu or a key binding?
Also would you mind making an additional optional config to place this faction under Independent?

Im trying to load PMCs 51km^2 desert map, and one of the requirements-@ags_ports pops up a window every start up saying addon missing CAWeapons. Is this something to worry about?

A little netpicky, but ever thought that the X designation to anything in the US Military is associated with experimental? Just thought maybe it could be changed to something other than an experimental designation of X to show its in full service in 2035 Armaverse. ;)
