    Discussion on "Axed" Features

You are saying that being able to spin around 360 degrees in less then a second while being prone, and being able to use the gm6 lynx as a shotgun in CQB is a step forward? Yes, smooth aiming is a step forward. But while taking that step they at the same time took 2 steps backwards.

Nobody called it inertia... Just the current arma3 system is so unrealistic that it makes even the clunky arma 2 system much better.

Night is too bright after 0.55 dev

Oh, I wonder who they asked about the ability to carry a cow on your back, or that an SMG handles the same as a 50cal sniper in CQB, or even that the sun doesnt blind you..
  5. Yes, ofcourse you need alot of ammo tho. With the mk200 it takes about 30 mags to blow up the panther. With the ifrit/hunter it takes about 7-8 mags. Also possible with the littlebird.
  6. Actually, Roberthammer is right. You CAN destroy destroy the panther with machinegun, because it uses an HP system armor.
  7. I dont see the difference, maybe it was 1 grenade every half a second before, and now its delayed to 1 grenade every second..
  8. On default controls: Left control + A to lean left, and while leaning it automaticly switches your weapon to the left side.

Currently: Too fluid (as in counterstrike style, you know what I mean). How it should be: Fluid + inertia and correct weaponhandling/fatigue system. I hate "Too fluid" so much, that I prefer the clunky arma 2 system. And how do you know they will add a correct weight system? Only thing we got is an:

    Discussion on "Axed" Features

I do actually think it is fair to compare the succesor of arma2 with the "pimped out" version of arma2. I mean arma 2 is pimped out for a reason, it is stuff made by the community, that the community feels was missing in the game. So having very little pimped features in arma 3 (or some vanilla elements of the game even removed/dumbed down) is dissappointing. And not all pimped features are "hardcore realism" that would make all the casual players rage quit the game. Just some details, would make a big difference like wind for example. Or how blastcore improves the visuals so much, but still we have crappy explosions in arma3 (If this has been done with performance in mind, we have a particle video setting for a reason). And not even mention all the pimped AI improvements (suppressive etc), I know AI is WIP now but still I dont think it will get similar to the pimped AI level, at least not before release.. And saying "dont worry *insert any famous arma 2 mod* will save the day" is a poor excuse for letting someone else "fix" the game for free. And even if I compare arma 3 to vanilla arma 2, I would prefer arma 2. Simply because arma3 has currently taken a few steps back on some aspects of the game that are a game breaker to me.

    AI Discussion (dev branch)

Yeah, I've always been missing this in the arma series, Men of War: Assault squad does this nicely. When a tank or any other vehicles approaches a group of infantry, the infantry would make space for the vehicle. ---------- Post added at 00:53 ---------- Previous post was at 00:52 ---------- Upvoted.

    Discussion on "Axed" Features

Smooth is good, but it is too smooth (too smooth as in no inertia, being able to do spin around 360 degrees in half a second, weapon handling being crap etc). Does that also make me "clinically insane"? Yeah, there is a few good changes, but the steps that the game took backwards compensate for the good things. Thats why "Very little changes to gameplay". Not really, people were just expecting 10 year old bugs to be fixed, and 10 year old feature requests being implemented. But what were they thinking.. they must have been clinically insane. Anyway the game is taking a step forward with AI now, lets hope it doesnt take any more steps back (the infamous axe).
  13. I hope still highly WIP. Would be very nice to have this. I hate that smell.

+1 And afterall it should be "mods will improve it", but now it is definetly a case of "mods will have to fix it" which doesnt work ^.

Ofcourse you are not saying that BI is favouring one community over the other. But you said "why should the "others" be weighed less than the "some"?". But in this case the "others" do actually weight less then the "some", at least according to the feedback tracker. But anyway I dont consider this argument valid anymore, because you know when the "humans" were fighting for a, less being able to carry cows system. And the "super-humans" were against the blur and the anti-carrying-cows system, and when the blur got removed and the capacity system stayed the same, our version: "why should the "humans" be weighed less then the "super-humans"?" was also invalid (because it seems that not being able to carry a cow on your back equals hardcore realism). P.S. AFAIK the simplified features thread got locked...

You know this argument reminds me of the whole fatigue effects thread.

Denco is right, the arma 2 module is crap. BUT it is like Masharra said earlier, something "most" consider the "lowest" standard. And it is definetly much better then what we have now. I was questioning why someone would call for a medic, if he can patch himself up with a FAK, to the point that he can just continue playing with no negative effects other then your character moaning (which I noticed became alot less then at alpha release). That doesnt tell anything about my behaviour ingame, and your logic seems "We can spam 20 grenades like an automatic grenade launcher, but I myself keep 10 seconds interval between every grenade I throw, so devs dont need to fix that".

    Place satchel on vehicles?

Yup, it was scripted and doesnt have priority now.
  20. Oh.. the "other" arma, back in those days there was atleast a basic sense of realism, but who cares about that. At least the game is more accessible now.

Yep, on 60% health there is no difference, still no downsides. If you take 6 pistol rounds in the arm, you can still perfectly shoot with no shake at all, as long as you hold right mouse button (and this is while standing). It takes 6 pistol rounds in the leg before your soldier wont be able to run anymore, but like metalcraze said, the medic is pretty much still useless because as long as there is a FAK lying around somewhere, this negative effect can be fixed.
  22. Not really, you would save your rockets for more important targets, instead of wasting them all on infantry.
