It's not as if you have to run a mile with gear in the beta to sound like you're having a heart-attack.
-
But did you carry thirty pounds of gear on you?
-
Did I claim otherwise? A lot of the autosaves in the showcase are poorly timed. Having one manual save doesn't change that fact - So instead of being a jerk, maybe you should use that noggin of yours before opening your piehole? Thank you. Google "FTFY" and you'll realize.

Time to eject some elephants out the poop chute!
-
Well neither have you - obviously.

3570k 8GB 1600Mhz CL8 RAM AMD MSI 7870 2GB Old school harddisk I'm running most of the settings on standard, except for blurs, blooms (and other post processing effects), all filters at 4X (FXAA I believe?) and textures on Ultra. I'm getting a comfortable 40-60FPS at all times (except if I'm neck deep in a smoke grenade rave)

On the other hand your computer isn't sounding like it's dying due to the horrible hardware optimization.
-
As for the underwater gun (yes it sucks), did either of you hide behind that big armored vehicle by any chance? You can't shoot through the undercarriage and such even though you have clear sight.

This sums them up quite nicely at the moment - I remember a particularly bad example of 1 the other day in Insurgency. We came upon a camp of insurgents (10 or so of them) around a campfire in a valley below. They spotted us and immediately all went prone in a big circle around the fire. Grand old shooting gallery from above that one.

I love some good rain - would be nice if it would run down the hills visually. And thunder - thunder is great.
-
FTFY - Let people have their saves. If a portion of the players want to artificially limit themselves, by all means add an Ironman option that limits them to a single (or no) saves.

I never made any claims that a pair of Sennheisers don't have an objectively better sound quality - better 3d space? Doubtful. I would personally never buy a pair of gaming headsets just for the sake of them having the "gamer" label tacked on to them. I bought my G35s because I wanted better spacial awareness and I can't use speakers (I have neighbors) As for your "good soundcard" argument, I'm very sorry to say but we've entered the age of software sound processing. You won't many games that support OpenAL since Windows 7 came out (or rather halfway through Vista's shelf life) or support EAX or any such old school features. Since Microsoft removed the HAL it's all digital anyway. And since you started the entire "Who would pay for such a small difference" tangent, then I'll gladly argue that there is absolutely no reason to buy a dedicated sound card in this day and age. Sense - post make your a lot not. (My G35s are running 7.1 all day long - so yeah I have obviously tried "it"... whatever on green earth you are referring to.
-
I completely disagree - And so does science. You only have two ears - And yet you can discern location from those. Emulated surround takes full advantage of this. You can easily tell location with a pair of G35's which use emulated 7.1. 1. What on earth is a DH preset? You're going to have to de-acronymise that one. 2. I have no issues with distance perception in any of my shooters - be it Battlefield, Planetside or even ARMA 3 (excluding any obvious surround sound issues already ticketed) I am perfectly capable of telling distance of sounds from all directions. TLDR: This is clearly a matter of personal taste and your hearing.

Amd and issues to come...(Froggy can add)

I'll agree on the auto detection being way off (It's a beta...), but I cannot agree that it requires an additional gaming PC worth of parts to run it. I'm running it at 40-60FPS at Standard/Normal on most performance intensive settings and it still looks and plays gorgeous. -
Admittedly I've only bee on a boat once (ingame) but it did seem to take forever to slow it down after we had gone full speed for a few minutes.
-
YES! Oh god - I am so glad it wasn't just me. I can only hear the drill sergeant if I keep him in front of me on the... left? side of me. Any other direction and he goes completely quiet. I'm sure the people who unsuccessfully try to sneak up on me disagree - Even with Dolby's virtual technology it is a great addition to any first person game.

Have Bohemia ever looked into a Radial menu design? With how responsive and quick a menu has to be in ARMA, it seems like a much more natural solution than a scrolling text menu. http://vimeo.com/52776130

I agree that the NVG should be part of the showcase - it might not be entirely required to complete it, but it fits the theme. Alternatively a short showcase for snipers in various scenarios (could showcase the time dilation as well for a day/night cycle ambush)
-
7.1 seems to work fine for me - I can clearly hear sounds behind me with my G35's :) (Which are also USB*)
-
Playing through the showcases I have made the following observations (or rather opinions) 1. The timing of most autosaves is horrible. It often saves far too early during a checkpoint (like when you are much farther away - enjoy backtracking a lot) 2. The one save per mission is really bad design - maybe for an Ironman mode (or Bronze/Iron - one save, no save), but not for a series of INTRODUCTION videos that have a liking for screwing the novice player up badly.
-
Oh really? I learned something new today. Wasn't aware tripple buffering allowed for that. Now since Bohemia use Battleye and whatnot, is it considered safe (and allowed) to use Radeon Pro or D3Doverrider? I'd hate to get banned before the game is even out.

SCUBA Showcase - RPG No lock on chopper?
Mansen replied to Mansen's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Oh I see - I could have sworn the youtube videos I had watched afterwards made it look like it had heat seeking abilities. Thanks! -
Fix? There's no fix. Vsync is designed to cut the FPS in half if it cannot receive the FPS it needs to fulfill it's purpose. If you have 65FPS, you get 60 Vsynced. If you have 59, you get 30 Vsynced - Works as designed. Which is exactly why I am asking whether an engine FPS limit exists - some games have them, others don't. And I can't seem to find one in the configuration file, so I'm asking here in case it is hidden elsewhere (if it exists)
