  1. Not sure if "monsters" is the right term here, but there will be different types of infected.
  2. I believe the plan is to have private persistent servers and not a public hive. Having public hives opens the door to many things like server hopping, ghosting, and logging onto empty servers to farm loot in (relative) safety.
  3. I'm just pointing out the sad truth about a volatile portion of the Arma community, it kinda speaks for itself  By your logic Arma 3 is just like Call of Duty, they both have guns right?
  4. Every time I see someone on these forums complaining about how Dayz ruined the community or someone calling 2017 Dayz just because it has "zombies", this all I can think of:
  5. It's very simple, zombies want to eat people, infected don't. They just want to destroy/kill people in primal rage. And then there is the whole difference between being alive and dead  Your definitions are very inaccurate. All 4 of those pictures you linked are of infected. With the Dawn of the Dead remake, Romero himself even resisted the change to fast runners because they were not what he himself considered to be zombies.
  6. If you actually read through the announcement post you will see the gameplay elements are completely different. The only common features are infected AI (dayz had zombies, hence the name day Z) and a looting system, apart from that 2017 will have a completely different feel and playstyle. The main reason to differentiate between the terms infected/zombie is because they are two completely different things that present different challenges. For example, zombies can only be killed by dismembering the head. Infected however can be killed the same way a regular human can (usually). Hardcore zombie fans have a heart attack when people call 28 days later a "zombie" movie. We are doing fast humanoid AI because it creates faster paced gameplay. In order for slow walking zombies to present a danger, there needs to be hundreds of them and the engine won't be able to handle it. We ARE doing custom animations for our infected, so it's not anything about being "lazy".
  7. Yes we are, we have permission to use his bow system but we are making our own bow model to fit 2017.
  8. Make sure to click the images to see the fullsize versions, the thumbnails do no justice to their beauty.
  9. http://zoombiesmod.com I believe that is what you're looking for, this is the wrong thread for that.
  10. I am Andrew AKA Knar, and I am the lead tester for 2017. Within the following week or two we will be starting our closed alpha testing phase of the mod. Anyone interested in helping us test the mod can Private Message me with a bit about yourself, and your Skype username if you have one. I am looking for testers that can commit to helping us iron out any issues with the game, test every feature, and generally try to break the game so the developers can fix it. I am really excited about this mod, and you all should be too :)
  11. That is correct, all buildings have damage set to 5. We will be adding lots of things around the map to make it really feel like an apocalypse and to tell a story with the environment. We will be using the Stratis map for our closed alpha testing phase which will be coming soonâ„¢, but Altis will be the final destination for 2017 mod.
  12. Not quite, look a bit closer and you will notice a few differences
  13. Keep in mind that we're not looking at dead, rotting zombies, but instead living humans infected with some unknown virus that causes them to go mad. Although they will look gruesome and bloody after a few years, rotten is not what we're going for. That being said, the skin textures as well as the player clothing and some other assets are merely placeholders to speed up the development process. The main thing Shinkicker was showing in that screenshot is the re-texturing of the civilian clothing the infected is wearing. We're working hard to make 2017 look and feel like it takes place years after the world has gone to hell, where every moment is a fight for your survival against the infected, the environment, and sometimes even yourself. I took this screenshot while working on the 2017 map, I think it illustrates a typical night on the town in Agia Marina circa 2017. http://erdb.webuda.com/houses.png (1300 kB)
