I tried to load TKOH demo to see it I can access the map but it would NOT work through AIA. Regular TKOH does work. I hope BIS would have a sale on TKOH series so users can start generating missions on those maps. -

You can make a relative test. Goto steam, download the ARMA 2 FREE edition, set everything to maximum and run the first benchmark. If you can run the first benchmark maxed out at over 30-40 FPS, and your video card is DX11, you "should" be ok. The 2nd benchmark is mostly AI so it will kill your cpu in anycase. -

I was wondering about the AMD cpu series and in ALL tests on a per clock basis, EG 3 GHZ AMD vs 3 GHZ INTEL, AMD loses due to inefficiency in processing IPC (instructions per clock cycle). Intel just has a much higher IPC than any AMD processor. If you have money to upgrade and really love playing ARMA, I really suggest you sell your current MB and CPU, and buy an INTEL quad core cpu and mb. Then transfer your RAM (at least 8 GB DDR3), video card and hard drives over. You will need to reinstall your OS again of course, but the upgrade will be much better for the game. Which cpu and MB? The cheapest one that can OC at 4 GHZ or more with QUAD cores. No need for HT. If you can hit 5 GHZ, all the better since the ARMA 3 engine limitation is due to the single threading AI which relies on one cpu core that will hold up and lag the rest of the game. In multiplayer, your next limitation, after cpu and ram, would probably be video ram and gpu power. You can add another card later for SLI or upgrade to a video card with 2GB or more VRAM for higher settings. If you have extra money, I recommend you add a SSD just to load ARMA in the future, especially with big map mods. This is more true with ARMA2/CO due to all the big maps for that game so far. -
I'm curious would the moon Phobos be included in the future? Lots of lore there too with Deimos. :D

I think just making a mod that would retexture or add in more detailed textures to the Seattle and Kuala Lumpa maps via a PBO or series of PBO like the Summer Chernarus mod along with AIA would suffice?

Can you do a test with AllInArma and load the built in A2 benchmarks with a bigger map such as Chernarus? You can use ARMA2 FREE from steam instead. Or even A2mark running AIA. SDD on SATA 3 GBs, SATA 6 GBS, HDD SATA 3 and 6 GBS vs RAMDISK. So far, I have an HDD on SATA 3 GBS vs an 8 GB RAMDISK. RAMDISK wins by a large margin for me but I am considering a SDD just for ARMA 2/CO, ARMA 3, and GTA series including the upcoming installment. If ram was cheaper like last year, I would get more ram hands down. Edit- noted you did ran the A2 benchmark. :D Thanks!

Interesting thread... I am curious how is the AI performance in this engine vs the "game" engine. In simulation mode, does VBS2 lag the overall experience or has it been commercially optimized to keep things running smooth even in heavy AI simulation mode? If it is better than the current game engines, will we ever see the AI optimizations come over to the game side? :D

AI - no way or it does not feel like it... I just tested a defend the base scenario using AIA + Unsung Vietnam and A3 Dev branch and it dropped my i5-760 @ 4 GHZ with 6950 CFX to 15 FPS or so. Without so many AI, my system runs A3 near solid 60 FPS at ultra settings with FXAA at ultra. If BIS can multithread the AI and scripting aspects of the A3 engine, it will be amazing...

@ foffy - thanks for your input. I just wanted to replay those mods with the graphic prowess of the A3 engine. It really makes the old A2 games look incredible if you can even load the cutscenes. Just for fun, installed the Unsung Vietnam and Predators mod from Charon. When it works... WOW WOW WOW... I really have no use for any other FPS game so if ARMA 3 engine can deliver so many different play patterns with such beauty. The thing I noticed was that in Unsung Vietnam's defend the base scenario, my FPS dropped to 15 or so! It was more of an AI test than AIA test, but it tells us AI scripting still has a way to go in the ARMA 3 engine. Hope BIS will incorporate some of the DayZ AI optimizations into the A3 engine later since those games will be targeting high volumes of AI on a dedicated server or threads. In the Predator's mod on Cherno, RECON1 coop mission, the copilot and gunners of the heli were using A3 multicam models in T pose, while the rest of the game AI and player team were the correct woodland camo A2 models. I did not modify the AIA folder, infact, reinstalled it since there was another DEV update today. The predator in that mission failed to show up for some reason. I just heard the pain shouting sound at the 2nd major waypoint. FPS was 60+ here. In the simple UTEs test, the Predator worked... In fact, too good... much faster and more fluid than in A2CO. FPS was 60+ here. @kju - if there are anything specific you want us to test, let us know. Your mod makes the A3 engine such a fun sandbox. I will really someone would update and port some of the classic missions over to AIA/A2CO/A3 setups. -
+1! There is a winter chernaus mod out there. Would be perfect for snow missions! Please do. Also, checkout the Alienz mod over here. Folks are talking about using your mod for Earth Defense Force near future soldiers vs Aliens attacking earth. Would be awesome to have all the camo variations for missions all over different settings. Lastly, can you also produce a replacement file? So I can swap this mod to replace ARMY, DELTA, MARINES, MARINE Force Recon, British and Razor teams in ARMA 2 CO singleplayer scenarios?

So glad for this thread. I've been playing the Enemy Unknown CO8 mission in singleplayer with ACE and this mod and it is a blast. I am also a LONG TIME XCOM fan. Would you guys possibly port this mod to ARMA 3? FYI - I did test this mod in ARMA 3 with All in ARMA mod and it works for simple missions such as SP_THE_MOTHER_SHIP.ProvingGrounds_PMC.7z (2 MB) but some things are broken such as no visible lasers or blaster beams. The ARMA 3 beta engine looks so much better. I think the Kryptek gear with ARMA 3 near future soldiers and loadout for X-Com operatives vs the Alien would be at totally awesome setup. This is one of my dream FPS!

Noted. It seems the current build works ... sorta... if you and the CRW2 could update the A2 mod officially to work with AIA that would be great. @ kyu - some testing issues: ARMA 3 DEV build 0.71 + AIA 06/29 build. General - if I remove AiA_DeactivateA3Models.pbo it seems it crashes or stops or corrupt most A2/CO campaigns including CRW2 official campaigns after loading cutscenes. CRW2 - loads both 1985 and resistance cutscenes but stops abruptly when mission starts. Putting back this pbo allows me to continue. A2 - Red Hammer - does not even start cutscene but get a black screen with the ARMA3 logo on bottom right and can hear sea sounds so must be on board the carrier. A2 - Trial by Fire scenario mission - starts with A3 Multicam soldier, then when I get within 10 feet of the chopper, I am given M249 and cannot board the helicoptor to start the mission, but heli takes off anyways and AI runs the game while I'm still onboard the carrier. If I put back the pbo, it works for CRW2 1985 campaign (played first mission after cutscene). It hung resistance campaign after the cutscene finished. Trial by fire scenario switches back to A2 marine model but still have mission issues as above. It did not work for the SHJ Studios - Red Hammer addon campaign for CRW2 at all. Error message noted that a voice file for Nikolai was missing but the campaign file works under A2/CO with CRW2. I click close and close all button but it appear to not move beyond the dialog box. For mod ARMA Rearmed, also by SHJ Studios, with or without CAA1/CBA/CBA2/CBAOA dependencies, error "Addon 'aia_baseConfig_F' requires addon 'Anims_DBE1' still comes up and error "No config.bin/CfgVehicles/WarfareBEastHeadquarters.scope" I could not test ACE dependent mods in scenario mode since the ace ui blocks that option but can load campaign or multiplayer. Will try to run through most of the official and major mod campaigns when I can. -

I've been playing mostly coop on larger servers ~ 20-30 players. I had no issues with the alpha lite, then upgraded to the beta. Mission files: co40 AW Invade & Annex 2.87.4 BETA.Stratis.pbo co52 AW Invade & Annex 2.86 REVIVE + BETA.Stratis.pbo Since the beta went live, I've been experiencing "windows running low on memory" warnings in the middle of the game. Then after 3-5 of these warnings, my screen goes black and eventually either hangs or I have to ALT-TAB out or ALT-TAB-DELETE then run task manager to kill the ARMA3 process. It shows it using ~ 1.4-1.5 GB of ram that time. It occurs mostly from moving close to targets or larger group of players but I should have enough ram to cache everything. Windows 7 Pro 64 i5-760 @ 4 GHZ 16 GB ram 6950 CFX 3 GB free HD for swap space but my monitoring software says its using ~ 500 MB. I've been testing by launching ARMA 3 off the HD with the full 16 GB available or splitting 8GB RAM / 8 GB for RAMDISK (makes the map transitions smoother) but both exhibit the same issues. I assume ARMA3 is not 64bit aware. I'm using ALL CPU METER on my desktop so I can monitor the status when I ALT TAB out. 16 GB total ram. ARMA 3 uses up to 1.5 GB of actual ram per task manager 8 GB in use by ramdisk 5 GB in use by windows and ARMA 3 ~ 2-3 GB free actual ram Swap file ~ 1.5 GB at up to 800 MB in use (no other background task than steam, arma 3 and the desktop gadgets.) Yet Windows keeps telling me I am running out of memory and to close the current process (ARMA 3). I will try to install process explorer and see how my usage goes. -

Just play a couple of more rounds and still the same issue even when I let windows manage its own swap file. It automatically setup a 1 GB file with up to 600 MB in use then spread up to 1.5 GB but at 50% usage. I think there is a memory leak in either some drivers or something related to ARMA 3. I will need to test other games to see if occurs here. Thanks for posting in my thread. ARMA 2 never crashed on my system due to ram, even when I had a ton of mods running. I too have a 8 GB ramdisk for it now. I did check my system and it had a 1GB fixed swap file on C. I just released that and let windows manage it for ARMA 3 so need to determine how large of a swap file I would need. Try it with a 2 GB fixed swap file and I think you should be good to go. -
@ Sander - thanks for that link! I will wait until the Christmas sale to consider it as BIS will finish ARMA 3 first. At least we have something new to play with first.

Your bat file is pointing to the wrong Arma 3 directory. Try to run the automatic detection bat file first. Then edit the manual bat file to match the correct directories where your ARMA games are installed in. -
Sorry to bump an old thread but I just realize I don't have this addon and wanted to know if it has been patched yet? I can't find any release notes about it. I was running on the lite version so far.
