Its buggy but it has its use for simple mod updating. But I do hear you. I hate it that it hangs and doesn't start sometime and would need a reboot to get it to work. Its like there is a memory leak in either Java or the program itself. And a big pet peeve is that it backups the entire mod instead of just updating only the files that need updating creating huge HD space usage. Concept is great. Just needs to refine it better.

I am seeing a LOT of ported A2 vehicles over to A3 such as HAFM mods. Icebreaker's ported Island Panthera US Helicopters (HAFM Overhaul) Mod v2.0 for US Helicoptors GPNVG-18 Panoramic Night Vision Goggles to replace night vision (this is now 2035 after all) Burnes Armories - FV4034 Challenger 2 TES v7 alpha for the BAF UK tanks pack Afghan National Army v1.0 for Takistan Army Combat Space Enhancement for ACE module dependencies? I'm not even sure if this is even possible let alone part of AiA but there are a lot of classic ACE missions out there. Gorka Uniforms v1.3 Russian replacements Leights OPFOR Pack v0.1 Takistan Army and Chedaki replacements but is dependant on RHS Escalation Mil Mi-24 Hind v0.1 for Hinds If there was a list of stock A2/CO units that have not been ported or replacement configs available, it would be easier to advise. Lastly, the civilians for some reason seems to spawn the same guy? Its not random enough or perhaps it a limit of the mission scripts/engine at spawning different groups? ---------- Post added at 23:01 ---------- Previous post was at 22:58 ---------- Pretty much agree here and yes, F3MAL3s is important to have! I would love a config that can randomly insert female units into basic ARMY or MARINE or Nato units. Would be fantastic for to have random female resistance fighters or rebels as well (such as the real world Kurds). -

You cannot have A2 and A3 style replacement units activated at the same time. So for customer missions, campaigns or mods with custom units, you either have to not use and disable the A3 style and replacement units OR not use any custom A2 units, while using A3 style replacement units. -
I was playing with this mod and wanted to know if the AI can be more advanced into various moods: For example: Hungry - Raptors go on the hunt to eat and can it also eat the animals on the map with TWP mods animals addon? Would be funny to see the raptors hunt, kill and eat goats, rabbits and pigs. I mean, you can do it in Dayz so why not? Protect Territory - Like garrison and patrol a known area Attack and hunt - just like current AI Sleep/Rest and retreat back to own territory. I was thinking about this against the Jurrassic Park movies but perhaps it may be too complicated. Would be awesome to setup this mod like Alien Vs Predator game. Hunt or be hunted.

I tried this in single player and while it spawns my team, the first unit (player) dies. Anyway to play this in SP? Or do I need to host a localserver to play this?

Wouldn't it be easier to just host fully FREE public A3L servers? That would placate the user base who wants to play this mod yet resolve the pay to play issue? All the content is free anyways.

I redownloaded AIASA + patch and it is working with the latest dev builds. However, got a few questions. 1) I am trying to run an A2 mission - depbo because I edited it, and while it shows up under the menu, when I click on it, nothing happens. I tried to load an pbo mission and it would load. I am not sure if this is just A3 or AIASA Edit - IF I repack the mission into a PBO, it works. Probably a feature or bug from the latest dev build. 2) With AIASA, I tried to deactive the A3 models, and load the A2 models (using addon units also) to play an A2 scenario. The models load up but in T pose and sunken half way to the ground. With the old AIA + A2:CO, it worked. Any ideas until more units get ported over to A3? Edit - Fixed. I was loading the AiA HQ pack while using A2 models. Solved by not loading AiA HQ pack. -

So BIS can't stop the porting of models into ARMA, then I have to assume this opens the door for others to the same with other models. There are tons of other game engines where users have ported other game and game engine models over and nothing is usually done about it since it is all free with no pay attached. Not suggesting others do it but clarifying even if this sets a bad precedent.

Its the way the ARMA engine has been coded. Its not too bad, but is not great because its an old engine that has been upgraded to multicore, not a fresh new engine with multicore, multigpu scaling designed in mind. Or it feels like an old engine with updated graphics engine due to the way it runs the scripts and AI. The scripting is mainly what slows the game down since the AI thread runs only on a single thread or core. So you need to OC your cpu to the max you can to get the most out of the engine. If you join a server, your would get good performance until server cpu slows down due to tons of AI. So your 970 is a great buy and performer. The best upgrade I made for ARMA2/ARMA3 was getting this HASWELL cpu 4790K. Next was more ram and a SSD. -
I just watched Frankie's video and the whole game revolves around Police state mentality (give me your camera!) with serial molesters. GTA online is better than this. At least everyone has guns to equalize the game.

No you did not. You just need a better cpu to push the GPU to the max. I would get the 4790K, a good solid MB and ram over the x99 system just for Arma 3. The most obvious reason is that ARMA 3 will not use all the cpu cores EFFECTIVELY. The biggest restriction is really cpu speed. The AI runs only on 1 thread. You need the fastest possible core and effeciently to keep the rest of the game from slowing. Then its up to GPU speed, RAM and how fast you can load the map and assets as it streams (GET SSD OR more ram for a big ramdisk ) You can OC a quad core MORE than you can for a 6-8 core. Plus the extra money for the x99 MB and DDR4 ram is not worth it right now. You will literally feel no difference between a 4790K and 6 or 8 core X99 system with the same cpu speed, amount of RAM and GPU. I would spend the savings on a FAST and bigger SSD instead. -

I "upgraded" to an Intel 4790k after my old PSU burnt out my MB and itself out. CPU was an I5-760 (no HT) @ 4.2 GHZ. This new cpu at stock (up to 4.4 GHZ) runs FASTER than my old cpu with the same amount of ram. I would try to OC the heck out of this cpu to run ARMA3 as smooth as possible. Get more ram if you can afford it or a bigger SSD. Run ARMA 3 off the RAM drive or SSD as it streams the map as you fly over it. Super smooth on a RAMDISK. Get 3 GB or more video ram so you can increase the draw distance. I would NOT get a 980 GTX but 970 SLI ~ 660 USD instead. Best bang for the buck right now. 4 GB video ram to increase draw distance. I am running AMD 6950 CFX and it runs ARMA3 smooth so long as I do not turn on AA (use FXAA Ultra with sharpen effect). I would choose more view distance over AA to keep ARMA running smooth. That is the best you can do. If you can clock your CPU up to 4.8 GHZ, you are GOLDEN. -
I meant Michael Bay 2.0 version. All the over the top effects. Lets say Transformer level effects and pyrotechnics without all the bugs. :D

Hi Killa-Conni... I forgot about that. In the past, AiA and AiASA had worked for me with the latest dev build so I didn't notice. I just left it like that since I've purchased Arma 3. I will see if I can switch back to stable build and see if that makes any difference. Thanks for the suggestion. -

So I install this with the latest HQ pack update and can launch into ARMA 3 latest DEV build as of today. But when I choose to load a mission and the game is searching through the missions folders, I get an error message: File ca\missions\scenarios\sp_benchmarkskirmish.chernarus\mission.sqm, line 0: '.rap': 'x' encountered instead of '=" The red X is actually a black square with a white 0 inside of it. Any ideas?
