  2. I cross posted this in the Escape mission thread, but after playing for 3 hours in that coop mission, I was wondering if you guys would consider porting the Escape mission to Unsung? It would be like the last scene in Platoon where the squad was evac'ing during the VC overrun. It is one of the perfect scenarios for Unsung mod and would need active coop to survive.

    I played online last night and we finally escape Tanoa in 8 player coop. Intense in the 3 hour mission that we got obliterated nearly completely with a ton of backup CAS and soldiers yet there was at least one guy who survived long enough to bring the rest of the team back. I played the Engineer so fixed most of our guys vehicles and thanks to teammates who secured a toolkit for my role. During that time, I was wondering if you guys would consider porting this to the Unsung Mod to replicate the the last moment in the movie Platoon where the squad escapes the Viet Con run over? This is really one of the best coop missions I've been playing similar to all the old school SvenCoop missions in Half Life.

    Arcade Realism Settings?

    Kinda funny that we all literally sit behind a flat or curved computer screen TV with a keyboard, mouse and maybe other gadgets, yet complain about "realism". I believe even Airsoft is more REAL than ARMA with the right players. :P I don't mind the fatigue system and third person addresses one of the biggest issues in any first person game - Field of View. Your eyes sees more than 120 degrees of FOV and it looks completely fisheye on any screen unless you have Ultra WIDE 21:9 ratio screens. Even then you get a cutoff on the vertical resolutions. So thirdperson gives you a much wider FOV which is closer to reality. Easiest way to balance is for servers to turn OFF crosshairs, allow 3rd person for FOV and train the user to use ADS to shoot. If you ever shoot in RL, or even airsoft or real, the user knows that in ADS mode, the FOV is more focused and limited. Hence no crosshair and 3rd person switching to first person sorta balances out things on a monitor.

    Could the future setting have been done better?

    I personally like the future warfare scenario and really wish BI had grown a pair of balls to push it further instead of catering to the naysayers. I know BIS built their business from OpFOR, ARMA and ARMA 2/CO but to cut back on the original full vision leaves the consumer feeling half full for both old school and new school users. It would still be incredible if ARMA 3 had been a very hardcore tactical version of Ghost Recon Future Soldier with all the electronic enhancements in place yet still feel grounded in a real world setting. Rail weapons, smart munitions, exo suits, electronic enhancements, bionic limb supplements, new stealth tech, advanced energy propulsion, in ground, sea, land, air and even space (1980s had SDI from the USA) and etc... are all available NOW in very rough forms and 20+ years from now would be completely normalized by then. It is NOT hard to believe in at all. I'm not talking about big mechs or jump boots like Titanfall or the latest CoD but a real hardcore near future Battlefield is closer to reality than we think. It would have completely opened up a new path as nobody has done it better yet. Its too bad BIS had to tread softly on eggshells due to their own legacy. If anybody says well, the future warfare would not have even sold, I can point out to all the Call of Duty, Crysis, Battlefields, Ghost Recons and those franchises sell magnitudes over the sales ARMA 3 has. And even point directly to DayZ - Zombies that have been to DEATH and back, yet the market still has a huge appetite for it. If only BIS would really give us that full fat un-adulterated near future warfare sim they desperately want to make inside instead of that joke DLC - Karts. I would have gladly paid for the grey alien "teaser" DLC instead of Karts. At least we can make a case for hostile foreign entities in a war sim.

    I've been playing the heck out of Escape lately and would love to see Escape in Ravage! That would be completely nuts like the living dead movies trying to get the heck out of the infestation. Please share the mission so we lads can join up with you guys.
  7. The issue is CPU load based on the AI thread (mostly). This is a well known issue.If you are saying you have bad FPS due to the terrain, then it is both GPU and VRAM. I have I7-4970K @ 4.4 GHZ all cores, 32 GB DDR 2400 CL10 RAM (gave me almost 10 FPS on min frames!) and AMD 6950 2 GB unlocked in Crossfire (yes ARMA 3 does support CFX and SLI) and get killed on Tanoa, yet better on Altis and Stratis. So I have changed to these settings now until I get a new GPU: Everything on LOW except: Textures - Ultra Anistropic Filtering - Ultra Water Reflections - Ultra - Shader Heavy so turn it up if you have lots of shaders FXAA Ultra No AA, PIP and Shadows on LOW. I get 25-30 FPS in multiplayer games now. Not perfect but smooth on a good server playing Escape Tanoa in COOP with ~ 12-14 players. If you are lagging out, or stuttering, it is the AI thread in single player or the AI thread on the server (too many) AI. Nothing you can do about it unless you and the server have 8 - 10 GHZ cpus or the mission will need to be updated.
  8. I just started playing with MCC (late bloomer) and like the features it brings to missions. On some custom missions, it adds to it but I am not sure if GAIA is increasing CPU usage. So I was wondering is it possible to breakup MCC into multiple PBOs - main, GAIA and interaction functions like the ace modules? This way I can enable, disable any feature set and compare against other AI modules. When I looked at the PBO, it appears to be an all inclusive mod.
  9. Ah great you noticed it. You can test with the SP mission Escape Tanoa. All it needs is Apex and no other mods to run it. Also, would it be possible to use some of the default French and Chinese Mandarin voices since it is now built into Apex or are those lines not appropriate to this mod? Lastly, would it be possible to sync up female voices from RHS mod since it has a female voices in it if it is loaded or detected?

    co10 Escape

    Just wanted to say what a great mission to play on Tanoa! So far I am still 0 to 20+ against the AI! I did have some questions about AI mods. I did try VCOM AI, AISS 2 and even MCC separately and when using these AI modules, the game lags and slows down tremendously. As soon as I remove all of these AI mods, the game smooths out but the AI is playing at near super human levels. For example on ESCAPE TANOA SP, I break out of the prison, kill off the three guys, grab their gear, head 400 meters into the nearest town, take out one Syndikat and CSAT, then get sniped by an AK toting Syndikat who just arrived at the prison over 400 meters away. Frustrating or those Syndikats are master snipers with iron sights only and in the dark! Any AI mods recommended by anybody to go with the Escape missions? I don't have as much AI lag when playing regular missions with around 50-60 total AI units. It may be because the enemy AIs are spawned into different groups which increases AI lag which I found when testing AI in Eden. If I group all the AI into 1 or 2 groups, it is way smoother. Lastly, any online servers up with Escape on Tanoa that I join in with you guys? :D
  11. I just wanted to say I love this mod. Makes firefights way more fun especially with the German voices added since it feels like I'm playing against the bad guys from Die Hard 1!!! I do have one problem and it may be other mod related since I load this up with JSRS APEX, ACE, Enhance Movement, TPW MOD for ambiance, GroupLink 5 FX beta build, Blastcore, Headgore, Bloodlust and other movement / interaction mods. When it first starts up, the AI starts to talk as if they are underwater. There is a slight stutter as if the sounds are reverbing or perhaps more than 1 AI is talking but using the same exact lines, though within a fraction of a second apart. I have lowered most of my settings to ensure over 25 FPS and game runs smooth in SP. I have been testing this extensively with the mentioned mods and on ESCAPE TANOA SP mission. And I just noticed the WIKI link on how to make further sounds! Is there a script to the all the English phrases so we can look at making similar and appropriate language updates? I'm going to rope in some friends and colleagues for good old fashion battle cursing fun! :D

    I like v2 F3males better from your ingame screenshot. V3 looks too "manly" for me. We have enough testosterone in the game already!! Otherwise, keep up the fab work.
  14. I recommend you play any of Phantom's missions. Its not sandbox sot there are endings or goals but it is good for 1.5- 3 hours of immersion. Feels like you are in a movie instead of watching it. Better with COOP.

    I am using Real Armor mod myself and it really equalizes MOST of the assets. If you load RHS AFTER Real Armor, it buffs up a lot of values and makes for very prolonged armor to armor or anti-armor battles. Better than Vanilla but sometimes you wonder why it takes so many rocket strikes to take down anything.

    Ah Noted. I will remove the propaganda pbo for the moment. These are my default bad guys now. I wish there was a 5th faction allowed to fight it out via Nato CSAT AAF and Black Order with civilians caught in the middle. :D

    I found out using the latest CBA and ACE that if I load this mod, the ACE interaction and self interaction menus dissappear so the user will lose access to ACE. Also, if I do NOT load RHS with the mod, the heavy machinegunner has no gun, while the other soldiers do. I was testing this to see why it may happen.
  21. @ dakaodo - thanks for your explaination. I started looking at it and what you say makes sense. I'm a lazy player but willing to learn scripting to setup my own settings. On related note, I believe I found the issue to my problem. As I said, I am lazy, ok "efficient" and when setting up my own init.sqf, I didn't want to manually type in all the execvm lines so figure I would just copy and paste code. I unPBO'ed tpw_mods.pbo, opened up init.sqf to copy and replace code when I found this: Notice all the classnames starting with "tpw_skirmish_xxx" are the same for BluFor, OpFor and IndFor? If we compare the above code to the userconfig file: So now I've updated init.sqf with these lines: Will repack, test this now and see if it resolves at least this issue. Edit - working now! Also noticed that CAS planes that go out of bounds of the skirmish area over water has their plane deleted and the pilot, co pilot ejects! So probably better to widen the boundaries for planes or have a medivac heli appear to rescue the downed pilots in water. Hate to see those AI guys swim 2000 meters back to shore. :D

  23. I get the same problem or close to the same problem with the civ script when I have skirmish on and running an AI mod such as GroupLink5. I believe it is fighting with the AI mod as TPW dynamically spawns in new AIs and GL5 is trying to take over those AIs. If I remove GL5, the error goes away. I will test it with ASR AI or FFAI again. On a good note, surprised the default AI in DEV BUILD 1.62.xxxx is much better.

    @ war_lord - I was probably overthinking it :D With all the recent news of Kim Jong-Un claiming to have successfully "nuked" the USA in a mock wargame, he does make a good source for villainy based on one's perspective.
