    Good missions for A3 coop newbies?

    I am usually playing on Outkasts.eu or GaelLords.com's servers. Just type in "escape" into the filter box in the internet tab and you can find those servers. Usually a bunch of good guys playing proper coop. Similar to how Half Life players play Svencoop if you know that game (wish someone would port Black Mesa to ARMA 3 engine!). Once you have played a few rounds, your team may opt to do their own versions on other maps or mod the existing PBO.

  5. ARMA is mainly CPU, RAM and hard disk I/O access limited. If you can overclock your CPU, increase your RAM speed and move ARMA to a SSD, you will find better (smoother) performance. It is very sensitive to cpu and ram speed. Once you have done this, you can lower your graphics settings to achieve ~ 60 FPS or so. That 960 is not really that fast (ARMA is ROPS sensitive unless you have the Apex expansion then the trees become geometry limited). So a fast video card with lots of ROPS 32 or more, and lots of stream processor in that order would work. ARMA DOES scale well with SLI or Crossfire. I had AMD 6950 in crossfire mode and peak at 38 FPS with YAAB benchmark. I just got a 1060 GTX 3GB and it peaks at ~ 32 FPS in YAAB. This is just to hold me over until AMD release VEGA and then I will decide on a monster video card to max out graphics settings. So far in online play, I am getting around 48-60 FPS with low mods so it is bearable.

I want to see someone script Tomahawks raining over the ratz heads all day to show real world military commanders how it should be done to clean out a nest. :D For the PLA SF, those guys are SF. It is super hard to get any info out of that region at all and I love your mods. Keep it going on. If you get bored, perhaps you can do related CTU such as Taiwan CTU or Hong Kong SDU units. If there was one other unit I wish you can do would be the "SF" units and survivors from the movie Battle Royale. I know it is SciFi, but that was what started Player Unknowms Battle Royale, H1Z1 King of the Hill and Battlegrounds games and mods. It had High School Students (I think Tryk may have something), JSDF units, JSDF SF and the students in the special BR camo pictured here:

  8. I had this problem in UT engine games if you run out of swap file space or turned off windows page file, even when I had 16 GB of ram running a 32-bit game. With 64 bit, the game can actually use up all your free ram as it can address (access) up to 8 TB of dynamic data. Make sure your C: drive has swap file space at least 500 MB to 1 GB even if you are running nothing else in the background while gaming.

  12. This is not a troubleshooting topic. I'm beyond that now... In sheer frustration with Steam updates, I had to uninstall it to have it "patch" correctly. Lo and behold I forgot to rename/backup my Steam Workshop Downloads folder and poof, over 400 GB appeared "free" on my SSD! Cry, LOL, Cry, LOL... not sure which is better. Game reinstalled on SSD, done. SWS content reinstalling --- 7.5 GB so far in 3 hours, with 228.6 GB to go. I guess it pruned out all the duplicate versions. Just sharing how much I love and loathe ARMA Steam at the same time... Its more love and glad I have one more day of full on office slave work so hope this will finish by the time I get home AFTER work, TOMORROW.... Share your experiences and lets laugh it off ARMAholics! :D
  13. I am using i7-4790K @ 4.4 GHZ with DDR3-2400 CL10 RAM. AMD 6950 unlocked in CFX. I will do a quick run when I return from work as Steam is still updating. Make sure to unload all MODs as it does affect performance but your FPS is real good since with MODs, I get down to 16 FPS (ACE, BLASTCORE and a few more) :D You can run ULTRA and turn off AA. Just use FXAA or SMAA.
  14. I want to see Ultra settings and what is your RAM speed set at? Indication from other websites says Ryzen OC'ed @ ~ 4GHZ with 3200 CL14, 3600 CL14 or faster ram goes 1:1 with an Intel 7700K @ 5GHZ with 3200 CL14 RAM. If Ryzen can get that high performance out of ARMA, I will pass my current Haswell @ 4.4 GHZ to my kids and get a Ryzen 1700 for myself when I upgrade the GPU.

    Regarding players disconnecting, there are very valid reasons to allow this: On public servers, when there are mixed group of players who don't know each other, many wounded players are left behind and never revived while the rest of the remaining players are on off to the next objective. The only way to rejoin the group is to disconnect, ensure the team leader is outside a vehicle, and then those players can regroup and carry on. Another example: if the last player gets wounded enroute to the extract point while everyone is already there. Easier to disconnect and rejoin than to send and risk a rescue team, even though that may be the actual goal of the game. This happens all the time especially with no admins around. For LAN or private servers, it is not an issue at all since most team mates usually come back for you. Or a very good server but even then if there are too many players, many are left behind and can hold up the game.

    I love this mission mode and wanted to ask if it is possible to make an Un-Com version with this mod: Or FAP mod Alien version: Just replace all OpFor with the Aliens to simulate an alien abduction / invasion and the human players has to escape back to humanity or whatever is left.
  17. 4GB or more. The 1060 is actually the better GPU in that price range. Can you buy a 480 8 GB for the same price as the 1060?

    Don't have any idea how to resolve this but I always wanted to see children in ARMA. Especially for ambience and to rescue them. Keep it up.
  19. I was watching Gantz with the kids and really want a simple HUNT or HUNTED mission game mode or mod framework: MP/SP/COOP where a team of players spawn into a random quadrant of the map. Say 2 minimum up to X Quadrant can be from of list of predefined areas to simulate different terrain types (cqb, jungle, water, etc...) Server sets max players. Timelimit of roughly 20 mins per round. Server selectable. If you leave the quadrant before time is up or target is killed, you get killed ala Battle Royale game mode. Stay in the quadrant to hunt down a designated target with whatever gear you have. Goal is to stay alive and use teamwork but if you are a total badazz, you can go on your own. Kill the target, get 5 points. Progress into the next round Target can be AI and should be a really powerful monster or alien (in Gantz Anime, it was all aliens). Can be more than 1 AI as levels progress such as Uncom or FAP mod aliens, a predator, a dino, whatever. Between each round, players can choose to save points and spend it on gear or share points with friends. Sorta like counter strike. Rounds becomes progressively harder with tougher AI monsters/enemies, more enemies or combo of both. Game is over when all players are dead from a round or when a max number of rounds has been achieved/survived by at least 1 player. Basically a mix of Hunter / Hunted with Evolve. Hopefully, players can create their own versions on custom maps or with mods to add AI variety. For folks who have watched Gantz, you know what I'm talking about.

    Good missions for A3 coop newbies?

    I highly recommend ESCAPE. I play on a British (I think) server with a great bunch of guys and in coop mode, it is fantastic. Captured, unarmed, enemies everywhere, trying to get GTFO of there... really takes a LOT of teamwork to survive. Very hard for lone wolves or single player. Great online or LAN game for coop or ARMA newbs to get used to ARMA.

    Steam Workshop destroying everything

    I've had this problem for months and still waiting for a fix. I love the download speeds from Steam Workshop but seriously, it is retarded on how it handles symbolic name creation and the overall disk space usage X to download, Y to unpack, Z to backup then setting up the actual mod folders. I wish there was an alternative way to just use Steam as a download server to download the mod itself then rename the folders to @whatever in the root ARMA 3 folder. That would be enough for me.
  22. For me I want to see modern urban...a huge city state like the below but it can be fictional of course: We have the GPU power and storage via SSD now... its only the engine that needs updating to support it.
  23. @ TPW... WOW! Fantastic... Would you also advise a script so we can assist with adding user made building packs as well just as JBAD, EM, Open Chernarus and others? We can submit the data to you for periodic updates.
  24. The MOD version is not MP compatible but I believe some scripts are. So you would need to test it and it should be OK to include the scripts in your mission.
