[Release] Vehicle Appearance Manager
Valken replied to UNIT_normal's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
This is awesome and can I ask if this is possible as an ACE gesture function? It would streamline ACE Arsenal feature without going full into that module. -

Here is one example of a popular and great mission: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1517530157&searchtext= You can check the author for more but he is a not a crazy mod user. This one is just insane: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1452083550&searchtext=hunted Would be amazing to make a working preset automatically! -
Arma Preset Creator (Source Code included)
Valken replied to colinm9991's topic in ARMA 3 - COMMUNITY MADE UTILITIES
Idea is good but can you create a preset based on a scenario's mod requirements? I hate having to hunt down and create a preset just to play a couple of missions, each with their own presets. That would save a lot of time. -

Iron Front in Arm3 LITE - preview versions
Valken replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The top one is just the mod - weapons, units, vehicles but no maps. The bottom one includes the above + maps + the 3D objects for the maps such as houses, barns, trees, etc... The reason is some people wanted to use the maps or objects or the weapons but not the full mod for other reasons, such as to create missions so the full mod was broken into separate packages for those people. If you want to PLAY online or any IFA3 mission, you should get the AIO lite version. Or you can get all 3 mod packs - Mod, IFA 3 maps, I44 maps and WW2 objects to make it work. -
ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
Valken replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
After playing the heck out of Escape on Outkast's servers, I wanted to see if anyone knew of a game mode or mission, ideally coop, that is similar to the Hunt Showdown game: Multiple teams (players can form their own teams or go solo or create their own teams) to hunt / gather intel and artifacts (EG monster heads, biotoxins, lab data) then get the heck off the map. Basically a modified themed version of escape and capture the flag / items where instead of 100% evasion, we have to close on an objective then escape. Ideally the mission should be open ended so the server or host can add /tailor objectives such as hunt down a specific monster like an Alien Queen or her eggs, then get out. Can be a single team vs AI hunter teams vs AI adversaries (the monsters or security forces protecting their own data) over time. Weapons, gear, and AI can be adjusted to create themes within a basic game mode template. Would be perfect with Max's Alien mod, Pook's USCM mod, Alias cartoon's monsters and Ravage type system for the environment. -

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Valken replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
580 is GOOD with Ryzen. If you look at the graphs on the net, AMD GPUs get a little more performance with Ryzen CPU. Nvidia is better with Intel CPU due to some optimizations. It is noticeable in ARMA as there is more cpu and gpu usage, where AMD GPU gets LESS usage with Intel CPU. So 580 8GB is a top card for ARMA at 1080p. I wish I could have bought one but it is completely sold out here when I was shopping and ended up with 1060 3GB to save money. -
Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Valken replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Depending on the resolution you are playing, it should be fine with the 580. When I was shopping for my 1060 GTX 3 GB, I was upgrading from AMD 6950 CFX unlocked. The only reason I did that was that I only had 2 GB of video ram and was running out at 1080p, and CANNOT find any AMD 480 or 580 series at the time. It was completely sold out!!! Buy the one that has the be value in terms of price. They are nearly equal for ARMA. If you have higher resolution monitor, buy a faster GPU though as per the graph I posted above earlier. -
Steam Workshop nonstop downloading and verifying mods
Valken replied to Valken's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I just wanted to bump this for anyone that workshop mod validation loop has been fixed. Steam implemented a "skip" or "ignore" function to the client or backend and it now skips mods that were previously subscribed and hidden. No more d/l, updating, validation loop! All mods are now updating and installing correctly and it freed up something crazy like 70 GB off my SSD! However the ARMA 3 Launcher still has an issue in that it is not listing all the mods from the !workshop folder. Also not all mods are having its symlink created - EG ACE and CBA_A3 even though it has been installed. There is no pattern whether the mod is using low or high numbered folder. I suspect it may be a limit or bug in the launcher not allowing XXX many mods? I temporarily fixed this by pointing the launcher to WATCH the "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\107410\" folder. At least I can see the mods for now but hope this will be fixed soon! -
The mod was MADE by PlayerUnknown... he did not work for BIS but I do agree that BR should have been an official game mode since it was born on ARMA 2, DayZ mod, ARMA 3 before it became commercial... maybe it was because BIS was working on DayZ commercial game and could not take on so many projects then. Hopefully ARMA 4 will have a BR mode.

No worries on the map! Pictures good enough to get an idea. Looking at the pictures it seems like a pre-cursor to Tanoa with the setting. We can use Tanoa as placeholder and do placement of structures to simulate a Cobra Island. -
You ran out of SWAP space for Windows. Most memory errors are either you do not have enough RAM or swap space. Clear your c: drive and leave about 2x your total memory free. In your case, leave at least 16-20 GB free. If you are using mods, you need more RAM. I had 8, then 16 and now 32 GB of RAM and it runs ARMA 3 loaded with mods fine. Any other errors are not memory issues such as bad mods or bad drivers.

@scotg No worries. I don't use Steam Workshop feedback due to all the SPAM mixed in. The community there is somewhat toxic compared to BIS forums with a bunch of wankers talking sh*t as my colleagues says, hence I keep my comments here. I will read through the notes again there. I've been having MAJOR crazy Steam Workshop issues so I had to download and install this and many new mods off ARMAHOLIC instead. It kinda sucks that we have to wait a few days between ARMAHOLIC vs STEAM WORKSHOP release, but ARMAHOLIC is mostly rock steady vs the mess that WORKSHOP is. Regarding females, I completely understand your development point of view. My suggestion is to coop that feature with Zee, Max, Horrible Goat, Zabb and others who have made female mods in the past and working present to bash up some characters as fillers for now. Yes, those females are Amazons with crazy big hands but hey, they look good enough for most of the part with some simple or not so simple texture recolors until ARMA 4 or better comes out for us to all move over. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1451755886&searchtext=female https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=779555792&searchtext=female https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=374775446&searchtext=female https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=107410&searchtext=female&childpublishedfileid=0&browsesort=textsearch§ion=items&requiredtags[]=Mod I don't see ARMA 4 until 2020 even for early access as BIS is still cranking on their Enfusion engine. Would be super nice if BIS ported the DayZ female models over to ARMA 3 as a base for ARMA 4 development, wouldn't it... Looks at BIS - nudge nudge, hint hint... Thanks for the link to the files. I do have Crysis installed but will see if I have any free space to poke around your map. I just want to see a full blow Cobra Island layout in 3D. For the Terror Drome, I don't think you should make it exactly at the toys or comics or even animations but inspired by it. I mean, if it was "realistic", the layout would be way more complex. One game mode I've been playing on has been ESCAPE. There is a custom bunker there that players have to hack the comms to call in rescue helis. The bunker layout if expanded up like 20x the size could be a Terror Drome with stone walls, and slotting in a battery of defense guns. The center can be laid out to host all the necessary departments to run a full fledged military organization. One thing I love about ARMA is that you can do limited underground by dropping the base template onto some specific maps or using the 3D model of the underground parts into a new map - check out these maps with its D.U.M.B system: Eladeen for Operation: TREBUCHET Halo mod: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=33794 Esseker http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28815 I heard Unsung 2.6 for ARMA 2/CO, Nam, FATA, and Kunduz maps also have underground bases. If you want, I could spend some time to locate it and take snap shots. But I think at best it would only be inspiration for someone to actually make a real 3D terrain with full underground system. I remember Rocket was going to do it for DayZ before he left. Its too bad we have to wait for someone to pickup on this. Sorry for the long brain dump. I am just so excited for this mod. The only other Franchise other than GI Joe that really gets me up in the morning would be a Half Life Black Mesa and X-Com mashup mod for ARMA. GI Joe vs Cobra vs Alien Invasion / or dimensional travelers would be my ultimate game. -
I see a lot discussions regarding the politics and good vs evil cases (rightly so) but I also see another aspect of these "incidents" occurring in the name of business. If Syria was not a potential path for gas or oil pipeline routing, I doubt the "western" or "first world" nations would give a cent or moments thought to what goes on over there. Same for any other country past or present in conflict that could have, would have, should have been part of a larger state sponsored business deal, from any side or any political group. All sides have contributed to the conflicts in the name of business.

Steam Workshop nonstop downloading and verifying mods
Valken replied to Valken's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
@pierremgi I am unsure if this is a Windows 7 issue or STEAM issue? I have notifications from steam running but no errors show up. I can bang out a batch file later to remove the content in a mass delete off my SSD. Maybe I should "delete" one folder and see what steam reports about it? Edit - I sent Steam a message and this is their reply: The problem appears to be what I suspected - Steam Client going into a loop over d/l, not d/l or updating and validating hidden mods. And this seems to coincide with the mass banning of mods starting last year on the workshop as I have 90+ such workshop IDs now. So the issue is now who will fix this problem - BIS or Steam? I will post a link on Steam Workshop and point back to this thread and see how it goes but hopefully something simple as a filter to the Steam Client or ARMA Launcher to IGNORE and SKIP updating hidden or unsubscribable mods would fix this for users. The worst part of this experience is that we cannot even UNSUBSCRIBE from those hidden mods ourselves... -

Steam Workshop nonstop downloading and verifying mods
Valken replied to Valken's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I found the problem but don't know how to fix it. I checked my STEAM\logs\workshop_log.txt file. It shows a bunch of mods ~ 90+ that were either banned, removed or no longer on the workshop but we users were never able to UNSUBSCRIBE from. Steam just continuously tries to check and update it. For example: [2018-11-27 16:59:44] [AppID 107410] Detected workshop change : added subscribed item 1255561184 [2018-11-27 16:59:44] [AppID 107410] Detected workshop change : added subscribed item 1249908446 ... another 90 + listed steamid mod numbers... [2018-11-27 17:00:18] [AppID 107410] Get details for item 1249908446 failed : Access Denied [2018-11-27 17:00:19] [AppID 107410] Get details for item 1255561184 failed : Access Denied [2018-11-27 17:00:19] [AppID 107410] Detected workshop change : removing unknown item 1255561184 [2018-11-27 17:00:19] [AppID 107410] Detected workshop change : removing unknown item 1249908446 For each MOD ID, I counted it 10 times. Thanks Notepad++! And the Steam Workshop mod page shows the error message: Sorry! An error was encountered while processing your request: That item does not exist. It may have been removed by the author. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1255561184&searchtext= https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1249908446&searchtext= The files are still on my SSD but that is not the issue. It's steam going nuts trying to do the above then timing out later for mods that needs updating? Any idea how to resolve this? -

@Haleks - thanks for the tip. I do have a program that removes empty folders and zero byte files. I will scan the SSD and remove those, then let Steam Workshop try to fix it if possible. Then I will move everything to another folder then unsubscribe from Steam Workshop. What a huge pain this is... -

@ SCOTG My pleasure! It's like being a kid all over again... then again, I don't think we ever grew up like how our parents wanted... :D I will try to fly again with a joypad and see how it goes. My kids are having a blast and asked "where are the girls?" :D I told them "Burgundy" and "Lady G" are on their way... going to try to arsenal bash it Zee's F3male, Zabb's and Max' Women mod... Unsure what to use for the Baroness... For Serpent Isles... (old school Ultima reference) can you link some of your old map pictures?! One of my old kid fantasies... ok... I dream about it once in a while even now... is to see a fully 3D realized Corbra Island with Terrordromes from the animation... And we need Castle Destro or a D.U.M.B chock full of black market "business" products... The walk around would be crazy with today's game engines... I will try to clear some of my work baggage and do more testing... Definitely you putting you on my Christmas list to support. Edit... Fffffffffffff.... I just typed in a bunch of comments from testing and clicked on the back button by accident... ... I won't go into each vehicle now because its a pain for me to type it all again but here are the main points: Check collision lights on heli and planes. many do not work Check gun bullet origin as many are off in planes and heli Check gun smoke origin as many are off in planes and heli Tanks need cross hair for gunners Check headlights on all vehicles. Varmit not working, Vamp can have highbeam due to 4 lights? Some of the planes have the wrong headlight origin. Patrol Pod headlight is in the seat for example. Vamp and Cobra counterpart bullet shell origin inside the cockpit. Gunner for above hand position needs realigning Driver Foot pedal in Vamp needs to be checked. HISS commander needs position reset. it is way too low. Need interior lights, nvg, thermal mode for tanks. It is way dark in there. All cockpit dials should light up when headlights on at night. For Venom and Trouble bubble, any chance to tie free look to the gun position for gunners? Gun on hellwing, and patrol pod are crazy powerful pushing back the vehicle if on land for example. Funny in the air. Water Moccasin is a work in progress. Rattler cannot board the back gunner. Understood it is a work in progress. Check all the gun bullets, gun smoke and light origins as it appears off in outside and 3rd person mode. Black Bear turn radius is very bad. All tanks should turn quick due to the tracks. For cars, seems it is 2 WD? I was drifting like crazy on those things. This is compared to base ARMA 4WD vehicles. Would like a Civilian Buggy and Vamp. 4 Door version too. Those are way fun to just drive. -

@SCOTG - I got this work working in ARMA and wow... Love playing around with it so far. For the Firebat, when I load it into the Editor, it is black. Is there a selection for it to be RED? Need to figure out how to configure Wild Weasel in his red flightsuit and Helmet for the Rattler. I cannot find the HISS Tank. Lastly, what is everyone using to fly the Helis? I use mouse for flight but my sensitivity is preset to FPS/Thirdperson mode, while in flight, it is super slow. Very long turn radius in flight for example. I have to set my sensitivity very high for flight, but when I land, its too high for FPS. I use a joypad for cars. Tanks I use the mouse to control the turrent as aim is more accurate in FPS mode. PS: I love the Trouble Bubble. Definately so much fun to fly it. Now we need a Cobra Island Mission template for Tanoa to be perfect. Even just to walk around it would be amazing! -
Steam Workshop nonstop downloading and verifying mods
Valken replied to Valken's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi Pierre. Thanks for that. I will look into it as a nuclear option. Right now I checked my ARMA dedicated SSD and here is what I found: ARMA 3 Launcher - shows ~ 300+ Steam Workshop Mods or Missions folders !Workshop Folder - shows ~ 2500 Steam Workshop Mods or Missions folders Steam\steamapps\workshop\downloads\107410\ folder shows 275 mod folders to be updated Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\107410\ folder shows 5003 mod folders installed... could be old mods with some deleted content. So I am unsure if I should do a MOVE with ARMA 3 Launcher for only 300 mods and then what should I do with the balance of the mods that are physically on my SDD? If there was a 3rd party launcher that could read those Steam Workshop Mod folders and read the meta.cpp file, then copy or move the folders to a regular folder like the old ARMA 2 days, that could fix my problem... I don't know how to even make a list of those mods that ARMA 3 Launcher cannot see as all the folders are using numbers for their folder names. Hate to dig into each one manually! -

Game Freezes Every Few Minutes
Valken replied to The Tetanus Clam's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I just had this happen to me over the last 2 days as well and I believe its HDD parking related. I have ARMA on a SSD and when my HDD spins down, it seems to lockup ARMA for a while. If I do something to keep the HDD spinning, I never experience the lock. If you have more than 1 HDD, you can test this theory by both disconnecting it and playing with 1x HDD only with ARMA or leave another program like windows explorer opened on the other HDD. See if that makes a difference. On a SDD, turning it back on is so fast it won't matter. -
Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Valken replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes, as everyone is saying a 1060 6 GB GTX @ 1080p is good enough, even for Ultra. I am playing with a 4970K @ 4.5 GHZ with a 1060 3GB GTX on Ultra. I only play ARMA, Brutal Doom, maybe Black Mesa, OpenXcom, or some old game. I don't play any new game and it should be good until ARMA 4 or another game BETTER than ARMA 3 and needs some crazy fast GPU, I'm going to keep my Game PC as is. I played over 4000 hours in ARMA 3 alone!!! For ARMA, you made a good choice with a fast cpu. If you can OC it safely, then you get more out of it for ARMA. You can see the chart above, any cpu after a Haswell is pretty good for ARMA, though make sure you have FAST RAM for it also. I am using the same RAM as Groove C above, 32 GB of 2400 CL10. For your CPU, you should get a fast ram as you can afford. For other games, you will probably need a faster GPU like a 1070 but plan ahead to get the most out of your $.
