  1. I've checked out the reality gamer website - most impressive. I'll be honest, a little intimidated by all of your experience and real-world military training! Nevertheless, I think I'll sign-up soon for a 2 week trial and see how I get on. First of all, I'm going to try and get ACRE up and running...
  2. I've uninstalled the game. deleted my RPT files, and reinstalled. So far, all is okay - but I'm not convinced... jus waiting for it to freeze up again. Do you have any issues in single player or in the editor?
  3. I'm certainly getting a lot of RPT files appearing. Is that normal? Every time I go on a server, they pop up? Could this be the cause of the game freezes?
  4. I found about 8-9 RPT files that contain error messages... I'm not sure if that's spammed? Not sure if this helps but my latest RPT file was 519401 lines long and contained lots of different error reports! ---------- Post added at 19:04 ---------- Previous post was at 18:10 ---------- I've discovered that it does it a lot when I use the optics on the sniper scope. If I repeatedly press the right mouse button the game freezes for 3-4 seconds at a time.
  5. Okay - I'll give you chaps a go. I'd like to be able to use proper military communications. I even wrote a 5 page document, explaining radio procedures, which I was hoping someone might like to copy and paste into their in-game briefing!

    I'm having the same problem. It was working fine yesterday, then today, it keeps freezing no matter what!

    AI Using Flares

    Does anyone know if there's a sound effect for the flare when AI fire them? Haven't had a chance to test it yet - but I remember on the showcase there's a definite 'sizzling' sound which sounds great and really adds to immersion.

  10. Hi, I'm new to the Arma series (but played Operation Flashpoint to death!). Can someone tell me a bit about the A.C.R.E addon? How does it work? What does it do? Can I get it? And should I be excited? I've posted this in the Mission Editing because I assume that's where it gets used?

    Small Errors

    Hi - I started this in a post in the terrain section by mistake and was told it might be better here. It's just a tiny little glitch and involves the user texture objects (both 5m and 10m). Basically, when you insert a .paa image into the game, and view it through a broken window, the broken glass appears behind the object - even if it is a long way away. Perhaps it is something I'm doing? I don't know. Another thing I've noticed also concerns the user texture objects ... Unless it is night-time or overcast, images appear as if lit by sunlight, even when they are inside buildings or in the shade. Basically, they appear oddly bright. This is resolves when there is no sunshine, so works fine on night missions, or with a highly overcast sky.

  17. Hiya - has anybody noticed that trees tend to flicker? Most of the time they look fine - but I'm working on a mission in the editor where a helicopter flies along Kamino Coast and man, they're really flickering bad - but only when you view them from inside the helicopter. External view seems okay. Any suggestions on how to stop them doing this? Thick fog would probably do the trick, or darkness, but I don't really want to have to resort to that!

    Okay thanks, that's great. Can anyone help with editing the above? And where can I get the sound effects from? I have a dePBO tool, but I can't find the file to dePBO... be fantastic to get a nice, easy, and effective script going!

    No, only when flying at this height. Guess it's just a bad level to be at, as you said. Still, shouldn't really happen...

    Also noticed that lit street lamps are visible through the bodies of helicopter pilots when travelling in cargo.

  22. Heya - just looking for a simple script to force AI to fire at an object that they cannot see. I have them shooting at a target during the day, but if I change the parameters to include any mist or set the mission to night-time they stop! I've checked the scripts list but couldn't see anything relevant. Maybe I've missed something obvious?

    Even with NVG it doesn't work. And anyway, I don't want them to wear NVG. I want to force them to fire. Thanks for the suggestion though. Mission parameters doesn't make any odds...

    I've also noticed that the yellow square on the 'Simple Target' object tends to flicker at a distance. This is also something that occurs with the 5m and 10m User Textures if they are placed too close to a wall...
