Nuts! Unfortunately, it didn't work - the message didn't play over the radio. Could it be because both units were in a vehicle? Sort of though that the forceRadio option might force the message to be aired on the radio despite the channel? Hmmm, let us know if anyone has any thoughts...
-
I changed it in the end - I think you had a solid point. Wow - a gunner, huh? Awesome stuff. That's what I love about the ArmA community! People from all walks of life. Thanks for the pointer, anyhow! I'll definitely give you a heads up when the campaign's all up and running (it should be a lot of fun!)
-
Ah brill, thanks ceeeb! I'll give that a go - you're a star!
-
Lol - yeah, I guess! But they're training so, I dunno, perhaps it's all part of a preconceived manoeuvre...

It's this part I'm struggling with: ...{,forceRadio}]
-
By forcing the radio, I mean to make the message play with static and bleeps, as if the communication is being made at a distance.

Yeah, I have no idea how I'm going to get people to re-play missions just to get to new material! -
Single Player Campaign for Make Arma Not War competition! Here's a sneak look at a cutscene currently being worked on - it ties in with this thread, I feel: https://www.dropbox.com/s/knfab81e4yh87cw/Test.mkv ---------- Post added at 22:00 ---------- Previous post was at 21:56 ---------- @MeshCarver - checked out your website too - very impressive indeed! Clearly you have a gift, looking forward to Nova Zona!

Vote Rigging?
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in Arma 3 - MAKE ARMA NOT WAR CONTEST - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I was also thinking about this issue: if for instance, you submit missions in a campaign, one by one, from the beginning of the voting period to the deadline, would that mean that every time you've updated your project, players would need to play though the missions they've already completed? This would engender a big disadvantage, as a lot of voters might not wish to play through a mission for the 3rd or 4th time just to get to new material... -
@Meshcarver - wow! How do I entice you to work on my project? :) You certainly have talent!

Help Making AI Jet Destroy AI Helo
Kydoimos replied to Noble Gas's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Everything you need to know is in the editor function library, under unitCapture. I think there's a few threads on the subject too. -
Help Making AI Jet Destroy AI Helo

Script the whole scene with the unitCapture command. It'll look awesome! -
Hi all - I'm trying to create a simple dust effect (like the dust trails left behind a vehicle on a road): _Sand = "#particlesource" createVehicle [10,10,10]; _Sand setParticleClass "SmokeBig"; _Sand attachTo [player, [0,0,2=0]]; But for some reason, no matter which particle effect I try, it's not appearing in-game. Any thoughts anyone? TBH, I'm not sure if I'm implementing it correctly...

Ah, thanks Pete - that should do the trick. Weird why I couldn't get the barrel animation with the other method though! ---------- Post added at 19:59 ---------- Previous post was at 18:17 ---------- Works like a charm - mate, you're a star!
-
Thanks Tankbuster - sort of of use - but the animation for the MBT's gun doesn't function with that command! There's no smoke or muzzle flash.

Bit of a longshot this, but does anyone know how BI created the quotation card video? I'd like to emulate what they've done, somehow. Does anyone recognise the interlace effect from any film editing studio or anything? Or does anyone have any bright ideas how we can edit the text? I realise it's probably asking the impossible - but it's worth the post!
-
Thanks man! It's probably something that BIS have concocted themselves, as I have only seen it in official videos!
-
Hi, thanks for the response! Yeah, I'm looking for the text effect that's used in the quotation titles. You see, BIS made the text effect into .ogg files. You can find the quotation text effects in the 'addons' folder of the game, under 'missions'. I think they used something like After Effects... I really want to emulate the quotation video but haven't found any way of coming close. I appreciate your help though! Thanks!
-
There's an example in this video by Dslyecxi: (Situational Awareness, Positioning etc.). But the best example is in BIS' official quotation titles from the main campaign...
-
Still no clues?

I'm trying to create a camera shake effect when the player is close to a destroyed helicopter: _Helicopter addEventHandler [ "Killed", { // Only shake the camera if appropriate if Player distance _Helicopter < 40 then { addCamShake [10, 0.8, 20]; }; } ]; I've defined _Helicopter. Any ideas where I've gone wrong? Thanks for any help / suggestions!

Worked perfectly - thanks!

Time Lapse Day-Night-Cycle in Intro
Kydoimos replied to IndeedPete's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Let me know if you've got the footage - I have the greenscreen tech. - could do it for you if you don't need it in a massive hurry (few weeks?) -
Time Lapse Day-Night-Cycle in Intro
Kydoimos replied to IndeedPete's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
IndeedPete - I might be able offer some help here! Do you have a greenscreen enabled video editing package? Basically, if you want to create an effect where everything is moving fast (time lapse, clouds racing over head, etc.) and you wish to keep, say, a soldier or figure in normal animation (or even slow motion) insert a blank green 10M User Texture behind the unit you wish to capture. Record the unit. Now record the sky or the fast moving background you wish to record. Then, in an editing suite, put the two together and play the background at a faster speed. There's a trial version of Pinnacle 16, which is what I use (not sure if you get the greenscreen feature with the trial however). ---------- Post added at 19:05 ---------- Previous post was at 19:02 ---------- What I'd love to know is how on earth they did the BIS-like flickering text in that video?
