Triggers Not Always Firing
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Can anyone think of a reason why a unitPlay command in an .sqf might not work on occasion? Or why a "GET IN" eventhandler might misfire? -
I was wondering. One time in about thirty, a script will fail to be called from a trigger or eventhandler. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's pretty catastrophic! Is there a way to guarantee the calling of an .sqf? Or a way to double check to make sure it's activated? Thanks all, in advance!

Nearing the completion of the second mission in the campaign - and in the process of writing the third. We had a fantastic translation of the first mission into Russian as well, by Demetrius Tokmashov from the Russian Arma Community. French, Spanish, and German translations will also be in the pipeline! ---------- Post added at 18:49 ---------- Previous post was at 18:42 ---------- And to give you an idea of the attention to detail: All the missions should be littered with these nice little aesthetic finds...

Hi all! I know this issue of forcing AI to fire launchers has cropped up a few times - but many of the existing threads are quite old and I was wondering - has there been any news on this? Is there a way to make AI fire a launcher at a target via a script? I've tried a lot of things, but haven't had any luck. If anyone knows of anything that works, I'd love to hear. Or, if there's a thread with a tried and tested method, I'd be happy to try there?

Thanks eXpouk - that's really encouraging! I'd like to do something similar for the campaign outro. I'm nearing 3,000 hours of game time now - and it feels like every second of that has been in the editor, lol! A third of the way through the campaign and I feel it won't disappoint! Playtesting for the first episode ('Road's End') begins on 22nd April. If you (or anyone else for that matter) would like to try it out, just find me on Steam under Kydoimos. At present, I'm busy writing the script for episode 3 and finishing up episode 2. Desperate to talk about the final mission but - I've sworn myself to silence. I'll add some teaser screenshots soon...

And, post release, I should have a nice array of User Textures available via download for billboards: 'Popsi Cola', 'Fastercard', 'Day-Z for the ZBox', etc.

AI and Scripted Fire with Launchers
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Another weird thing I've found on the subject of launchers is: AAF won't attack FIA trucks, MG offroads etc. (and yes, I have switched Independents Friendly to Nobody!). Not sure if this applies to all AT units vs. cars or not... -
Triggers Not Always Firing
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ok, I'll try and flesh out a little context. I have a "Get In" eventhandler that fires an .sqf with a unitPlay command. As I said, it works almost always, but every once in a while, it fails to activate the .sqf. It's very rare, but it does happen. I also have the odd problem when I activate a unitPlay command from an .sqf. Sometimes, very rarely, but sometimes, the unit which the unitPlay command is summoning, fails to materialise... any ideas? -

Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in Arma 3 - MAKE ARMA NOT WAR CONTEST - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ok thanks! I'll have to look into that at some point - I have a lot of video, audio, and a lot of images too. -

Kydoimos posted a topic in Arma 3 - MAKE ARMA NOT WAR CONTEST - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I tried uploading a mission to the Steam Workshop the other night, and because of a video cutscene in HD, it nearly took up half of my storage space. How will this work if we have an entry that is a campaign? With audio and video? Will we actually be able to submit it? -
Securing Content
Kydoimos replied to StrongHarm's topic in Arma 3 - MAKE ARMA NOT WAR CONTEST - SINGLEPLAYER GAME MODE
My plan is to release a series of missions as part of a campaign, over an extended period, until the deadline - that way, although people might be able to 'lift' some of my early material, I'll always be several steps ahead... hopefully! -
Hi Goblin - monthly news report would be awesome! I'll need a regular news reader! Perhaps after the RESIST campaign is finished! The voice is actually voices - the wonderful and highly talented Andrew Mooney (an American doing a very convincing British accent) and Robert Marley (doing two different voices). If I have time, I'd like to do a similar video for the campaign outro.

Oh - thought I'd mention - if anyone's interested in translating this project into other languages, please drop me a line at Cerberus_Creative@Outlook.com, Russian, in particular, would be a massive boost!

I think it'd be great to see the DLC wrap up the official campaign - as a lot of the community have mentioned, there's quite a bit of explaining to do! But yes, the Pacific... I'm thinking this ought to provide the platform for the next Arma game. Beautiful, misty, steaming jungles, sun streamers through jungle canopies, lagoons, mountains, open fields, insects, sharks, lizards, mud huts, Buddhist statues, temples... I mean, there's awesome potential there!

AI and Scripted Fire with Launchers
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I would like to be able to fire at an invisible helipad or marker - failing that, a vehicle would suffice... ---------- Post added at 19:25 ---------- Previous post was at 19:25 ---------- Ooh - maybe a helicopter? To be honest, it depends on what can be achieved! -
AI and Scripted Fire with Launchers
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Heya Pipyn - you know, that was one of the first things I tried! No success at all! Seems it'll work fine for vehicles and aircraft - but not infantry! -
AI and Scripted Fire with Launchers
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Does anybody know of a solution? It seems strange something so simple should prove so difficult! -
I'm rather hoping the Pacific scenario will provide the catalyst for Arma IV - DLC, I feel, may be better suited to the Mediterranean. But who knows?

I've been following your work too Pete - perhaps, if Resist is successful, we can have a chat about a future project? Playtesting for 'Road's End' (Mission 1 in Resist) should start around the 22nd of this month - so, feel free to give me some feedback!
-
I agree - hopefully, Resist will set a standard! I'm working really, really hard to provide an exciting solo experience that builds on BIS' official campaign. If (and it's still a big 'if'!) I'm lucky enough to win a prize in the Make Arma Not War contest, I'd love to be able to commit to another two campaigns. At the moment, I'm thinking about following the Resist campaign with 'Exploit' and 'Avenge'. I've got some scenarios planned that I won't be able to implement in Resist. Let's just say for now, as far as the story arc goes, the Altian flashpoint gets very personal. I'd also love to create a sort of short, spin-off campaign, centering around one of Resist's characters, set during the Altian Civil War. But for now, must devote myself fully to the project at hand!

Just uploaded a bunch of screenshots on Steam. I've tagged them as spoilers - but if any of you potential play testers want to check them out, please do!
-
Lol, yup - that'd be me! Surprised there's 5!
-
Just look me up on Steam under 'Kydoimos' (think I'm the only one!) and send me a friend invite! I'll send a round robin message to let everybody know when it's ready.
-
Okay - so, Alpha play testing for the first episode starts near the end of this month. Add me as a friend on Steam and I'll upload it privately so you can try it out. If you enjoy it, please consider voting at a later date on the contest (if, of course, you feel it deserves it over other entries!). Cheers!
