@Jelskipro - thanks man! Yeah - looking forward to doing some CSAT ones! @IndeedPete - lol, Order of the White Onion - I wouldn't want to mess with the Poles! That's some crazy stuff right there!
-
@Marcgf - Good old Ghost Recon! Hopefully, this little project will add a bit of a personal touch! @Waffel - I'd be delighted! Will start work on that next week - or the week after :D

Can anyone confirm a new error with BIS_fnc_basicBackpack? I'm getting an error message in line 205: BIS_fnc_basicBackpack: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=26106 Music cutting out: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=24456

That'd be awesome! I was thinking about creating some dialog images too. So, essentially, you could view medals in-game, as small 3D objects and view them in more detail via a dialog, which would also allow for further information, such as the reason the medal was awarded. Not sure whether to have the dialog accessible only from the medal case or not, though (with the relevant 3D object models attached to the case). I pictured a dialog box with a bird's eye view of the case and then a top-down view of the medals received, with spaces allotted for the ones still un-awarded. And maybe highlighting the medals with a mouse-hover, and then adding a text box when you click on it. I'm okay with adding dialogs, but for me, the real challenge would be to create a 'smart' interface, that knows what medals the player has. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please feel free to share - nothing's set in stone! :D

@87th_neptune - Well, the plan is, to make it open source as much as possible! I'm going to try and include all the PSD files, maybe even PDN files, for those who don't have Photoshop. That way, others can retexture the models easily, as I'll try and include hidden selections for them all :) Regarding whether they'll be mission specific or attached to the player's ID, I'm not quite sure yet. I'm going to have a chat to IndeedPete, community scripting master (one of them, at least!), and see if he's got any suggestions. When I started this project, I figured they could be used for clans, at the beginning of missions when you start off at base. Or, alternatively, for SP campaign hubs. But there's no reason they can't be adapted for all sorts. Oh, and by popular request! They're bottle tops, though not easy to see the grooves against the black backdrop - my bad!:

@Roadki11 - thanks for the kinds words :) Yeah, I'll have to do some fun medals for a giggle! Plus, I can't wait to do a collection for CSAT and the AAF - that should present some interesting and original opportunities!
-
@cosmic10r - great idea, mate! How about a bottle-top and ribbon with a handpainted MRAP wreck? A sort of 'unofficial, homemade, comradely joke' medal? @broduz - Yeah, I played those! I'll have to send a PM and see if the creator would like them! Here's the medal for marksmanship:

And here's a sparkly version :D Spent some time playing with Blender's cycles and different materials - lots of fun!

@FroggyLuv - thanks for that link, mate! Very helpful! So far I've got medals representing the bronze and silver star, purple heart, and medal of honor. Had no idea the US awarded so many different ones! I'll be sure to have a good look through them all! @cosmic10r - splendid idea! Maybe for an update after Tanoa release? :D @warlord554 - that's the plan! I'm going to create a customizable dialog box where the user can edit the stringtable entry to add the reasons the medal was awarded. I'm also planning on adding the PSD files so if anyone really wants, they can add an inscription on the reverse side of the medal.
-
@cosmic10r - Thanks mate! I took a little look at some of BF medals when I was doing my research - some were pretty cool! Could easily do some for healing and ammo supply, and anything else anyone can think of!

Here are a couple of very early WIP screenshots. At present, they look better in game, because the renders lack the specular and normal map effects that the RVMATs produce. I'm still learning and have only been modelling a month, but I think they're getting there!
-
That's great news! My work has not been in vain! :P I'll get some screenshots up soon - feel free to let me know if there's any special 'shape' medals you'd like me to add. I'll see if I can squeeze them in there for the final release.

Kydoimos replied to them0nkeyb0mb's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
@Heisen / @them0nkeyb0mb - Pufu's an awesome modeller - I'd visit your server just to see his stuff! -

Hiya guys, I couldn't find anything pertaining to Skype and modelling groups, so I've taken the liberty of starting this thread. I've heard rumours about groups of Arma modellers sharing their ideas, trials, and tribulations via Skype groups, and I would love to join one. I also thought it might be a good place for others to make new friends, and for existing Skype modelling groups to extend invitations - assuming there's any out there! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi there! Just wondered if any kind Russians in the community can help! Basically, with the wonderful Alan Orman, and a whole gang of fantastic translators (both from the community and elsewhere!) the Resist campaign has been translated into all available languages - however, the hundred odd words below still require Russian translation! If anyone could assist, I'd be really, really grateful! :D Sorry if this wasn't the best place to post, I just had no idea where else to start this thread! Thanks!

Russian speakers - can you help?
Kydoimos replied to Kydoimos's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
@ussrlongbow - thank you so, so much! That's awesome! Now the Resist campaign is fully translated! Many thanks indeed! :D Owe you one, buddy! -
Any update on the playMusic command? Got a lot of bugs at the moment (repeating, cutting out with game saves etc.) on the current dev branch.

Russian speakers - can you help?

Hi there / Привет! Discovered I've got one last bit of Russian translation to complete, doh! Desperate for any help on the sentence below! Schatten, if you're reading, I'll owe you big time! :D "Trouble is, the AAF have locked down the island's major roads and our Hunter's broken down on one of the few left open; until help arrives from <marker name="Camp_Rogain">Camp Rogain</marker>, it doesn't look like much is getting done. <br/><br/>Today's assignments over at <marker name="Kill_Farm">Kill Farm</marker> are just going to have to wait." Thanks so much! -
Hi there, guys, Just out of curiosity, how would I create a half-sized UV-layout in O2? Say, something like, 1024x512? I've looked up loads of tutorials, but must be missing something obvious. I've managed to create an extra UV layout and my aim is to create one UV layout on a 2048x2048, and one on a 2048x1024. Trouble is, in 02, the UV layout is always in square dimensions. I'm really new to modelling, so perhaps I'm just misunderstanding how it works!
-
@x3kj - ah, gotcha! I'll have to give that a whirl! Thanks man! lol, yeah, I'm not using 02 for modelling - I think I probably would have lost my mind by now :P

Hi all! Really bizarre one this, and I really can't fathom where I'm going wrong! Basically, I've modelled a gun rack and I have a row of clamps that hold the guns. I've got the 'door' animation working on these clamps, but for some weird reason, only every odd clamp opens and shuts. I've checked my model config etc. and all the animation classes are identical. So, door 1 opens, door 2 doesn't, door 3 opens, and door 4 doesn't and so on... So, then I thought, 'perhaps it's a collision thing and the clamps are too close together?'. I made a model with just clamp 2 (door 2) and still, that particular one wouldn't open! Very confused! :P If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, please give me a shout! Thanks as always, guys!

@Bad Benson - Yay! Oh mate, you've SO made my day - got it sorted with your help! I owe you one! I've spent literally 2 days trying to resolve this! Thank you!
