  1. Hi SenseII,

     

    First of all, your job is exellent on this mission, dynamic missions are often missing in arma unfortunately (because of scritping skills etc...).

     

    I just have one question (sorry if it has been already been answered... I've found nothing about it...).

     

    Is there a possibility to have a respawn created once the fod itself is installed? Because it could be annoying sometimes specially on Tanoa to fly back an back again after death... (Yeah I know I'm a bad soldier :))

  2. As someone who maintains a mod, and am continuing development, this change has me questioning if I want to continue. So now I have to keep track of which commercial interests have permission to use my mod? In the past it's been easy; no permission for A3L because of their moneymaking schemes, and all others have permission as long as altered versions don't show up in video or screenshots. Now I have to research which servers I feel might be skirting the line and then make a decision? Can I turn around and revoke my permission?

    And I think it's absolute horseshit that mod makers can't ask for a portion of the proceeds that servers generate. A server uses your mods as a way to make their servers more attractive, and therefore more profitable, and you're not allowed to profit from your work increasing their value? Ridiculous! Your work is making them more valuable and you're not allowed to share in that at all.

    I don't want to make a profit from my work, but at the same time I don't want to sit by while someone else profits from my time and effort. The fact that you're singling out that content can't be monetized is just a matter of twisting words. If a server uses my mod and people are paying for access, the server owners absolutely are making a profit from my work. Why should I spend time and effort for someone else to get paid?

    I'll have to think it over, but I'm leaning towards ceasing public development of any content.

    I'm really disappointed about this news. It's like Arma was going to be a sort a candyC... sh*t or some sort of pay to win game... We run a server and we don't count on the fact that the players have to pay to play...

    Donations should be sufficient to pay a A3 server, mainly if the content/mission is well organised and people can play and have fun freely.

    For my part I think this and most of the MANW selections are really not in the same spirit of the previous OFP, and Arma series...

    And this is very disappointing and ruining the game.

    I would like to raise this issue. I work on a bolt action rifle project and I search an answer for this problem.

    thank you beforehand for your answer.

    for my part I completely stopped my M24 SWS project because of bolt action and hands animation troubles and creating an working .rtm file.

    I had a lot of trouble to work with BIS skeleton (Feet and hands bones names seems to be changed by bis but not in the sample Skeleton furnished with tools), the Skeleton made by Kiory (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?167944-Modders-resource-New-animation-workflow!) was a good alternative but really long to implement for advanced animation.

    I hope in the future there will be (or maybe it is already available somewhere) some help/tutorials for 3ds and motionbuilder softs.


  4. From my experience we've switched from ubuntu 12.04 with WINE (Linux version of A3 server wasn't complete and stable at that time), to Win 2012 Essentials and perfs are the same.

    In same time windows is user friendly for administration. With the specs you have you can switch to Win with no hesitation.

    The only bad part of windows is the security...I recommend you to take care a lot to filter with firewall and install anti virus to be more secure (Our server was locked because of DDOS attack and considered as a spammer because of no security at beginning). Otherwise once this part is done correctly the administration is a lot easier.

  5. For my part the dismemberment should be for more fun... but technically seems to be a little difficult to implement (better for BIS to work on 3D engine optimisation I think)...

    To be more serious I'm not searching something gore like doom or duke nukem etc... I searching for a simple blood splash when the guy is hit by a bullet (just to see is the target has been hit).

    In case of C4 or big explosion like mortars etc... dismemberment should be something realistic and more immersive (ragdoll is ok but with the actual game technology we can do something better...).

    Anyway removing blood on the ground is ridiculous I think if it has been made voluntary...


  6. Wait one year and more for the game to be debugged ??

    I don't know if it just me or the nostalgia... but since last 10/5 years I feel tired to see Alpha, Beta, bravo, Zoro etc... versions of games... (BI is not the only one to do that know).

    I know the process and the games are now more and more advanced technologies but this is not a reason to release something to be far from finish... It is so frustating because once the game is "playable/funny" nobody plays any more on it...


  7. The custom maps in COOP are still very WIP. Will check those issues soon. Could also try to add option how much UI is shown.

    Do I have you permission to try to fine tune a little bit the area of the mission on cherna for our server?

    I'm not sure to manage to do anything... but if I could manage to not spawn out of the map it should be great...

    For the UI we'll wait the next dev.

    your mission is really great. We can now say "THIS IS WAR" once we are ingame :)

    I found that the optimisation is really great too (near 50fps constant on server side heaven with a lot of AI activity)...

    But I have two questions :

    - Is there is something specific to do to port your mission from Altis to Chernarus, instead to simply change the mission name? Because when we play on Cherna we spawn sometimes out of the map and a lot of content is appearing out of the borders....

    - Is there a way to manually remove the hud (maybe just leave the money on upper left) for the game to be more immersive (sorry I know I'm a pain in the neck, I hope it is the good expression for that :))

  9. So you want people to come and test the performance but don´t have any admins on when its EU primetime? Was one of the worst ARMA experiences I have had, felt like half the population was 14 year old trolls more prone to work against their team then with. If you have admins on I will try to get my group on again but not if its handled like this, I can take bugs and engine errors on test server´s but this was just to much.

    Did not experience any performance raise client side it was still red chains and desync, the desync never peaked at max what I noticed but wandered around everytime I checked.

    Get some admins at least on primetime and Ill be glad to join again.

    Or maybe an altis life test server should be created for kids? :j:

    that should permits every servers admin to get a good public banlist once they are all connected :p

    I just one little question about HC possibilities. I hope this one hasn't been asked 500 times already (I've done some search in this post but no results.

    The question is : Is it possible at this time to generate missions over the HC and not the server?

    We already use the manual spawn function into zone with HC and work like a charm but we didn't found the possibility to generate random missions with same possibility.

    If not possible we'll try to see for a loop script that is moving already spawn IA onto HC...
