    Well, I`d say the CPU is the bottleneck. But actually, my test was about malloc. I was "inspired" by a statement, that optimising flags are kinda useless, some may not even exist. So I picked malloc. I just bought a GTX 870 from MSI - overclocked by factory. Hopefully it will arrive monday. That should be enough to get some more eyecandy stuff. TBH, even the 660 would be fine, if they would start optimising Arma3. But it seems like, they just need so long for "finishing" the game, that the hardware will be fast enough - even without touching the engine :j:

    I made some tests, trying to find `ze best malloc flag. i was using ArmA 3 v0.51.Stratis Benchmark (because i had that..), and tried different malloc flags, without touching anything else. Startup options (of course i changed the malloc flag...): -noSplash -skipIntro -cpuCount=8 -exthreads=7 -high -maxMem=8192 -noLogs -malloc=tbbmalloc -empty System: CPU i7 4770k @4,4ghz Ram: 16gb cl9 @ 1600 GPU: GTX 660 TI OC 2gb HDD: LSI 9271-8i SAS2 8x + Cache Vault => RAID10 with 6x 480 GB SATA III Intel SSD MLC 2,5" (DC S3500 series) Settings of Arma3: Mostly high, some very high - but anyways, the settings were untouched, same stuff like i use to play. All malloc startup options had 5 tests each, posted result is rounded. tbb4malloc_bi 94,1 fps tbbmalloc 93,3 fps (Fred41) system 88,9 fps tbb3malloc_bi 95,6 fps jemalloc_bi 91,9 fps So whatever makes you happy - but i`d say it just don`t specify a malloc parameter since the results show: it`s all so close together - and tbb3 won ;P Have a nice weekend, Nik
  3. Just installed the latest version on a very fast server - well got 35 fps. This should be fixed asap please!
  4. Hi, I really wonder if the FM of the helicopters will get some work in the close future. I`m checking dev changelog like daily - waiting for some FM improvement. The yaw function is like not working at all when left the state of hover. Especially on copters with guns it is mandatory to be able to yaw up to high speeds. In Arma3 all helis behave like a plane aready at very low speeds. This should be fixed asap, I think. Actually the FM of all helis should be tweaked into more realistic physics. since arma3 claims to be simulation and small children are not allowed to play it - there is no need that a 5 yo girl can fly copters.

    Well I`m only a fixed wing pilot in RL, but I was flying ecuril and md500 in RL (with instructor) - and I would state at any time, that the yaw functionallity was WAY higher then it is implemented in arma3. I`m not asking for 90° at 100kts in less then 2 seconds. but a lil more realistic FM in general would feel good - and correct.

It`s not like I need to understand what the tail rotor is beeing used for - i`m asking for more realistic FM.

    Please delay it another month to take care the performance is at least same as the windows version. actually the performance should be way better - but you showed at arma2 how its possible to screw a linux dedicated.

    No, the desktop got 6x SAS 15K drives. giving more mb/s then the mac book pro ssd - so its faster since access times do not really count when playing arma3.

    Hi I tried -malloc=tbbmalloc and benched using altis benchmark. No difference (+/- 1-2 fps) for me. tried with 2 computers, both running win7 pro 64 with latest beta gfx drivers: i7 4770 @ 4,6ghz 16gb 2400 cl9 ram 2x 660 TI OC SLI HW raid10 mbp 17" i7 2,5ghz 16gb ram HD 6770M 512gb ssd so sad, sounded prommising.

    Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

    Is there any information BI is working on this low cpu/gpu useage? I think this should be fixed asap. Was very interesting to overclock the cpu and see how Arma3 fps are increasing like linear to the ghz. BI needs to fix that. Quick.

  12. Hi there, I played Arma3 Alpha and Beta for only 180 hours so far - but I`d like to point out some things. There may be older discussions and known issues - but this early access way of releasing a game includes PPL like me. I don`t read bugtracker and message boards all day long, so I don`t know what will be fixed later on - and what is supposed to be like it is right now. So here we go: 1. AI: The AI should be adjusted asap. I`m not really sure if it is meant to be really hard to play with "regular" settings - but the AI doesn`t care if it is night or day, if you got cover, they don`t even need a scope. The AI just kills on long range distance with single shots very often. I do like a difficult gameplay - but in Arma 3 the AI is just UBER. Silenced gun, 900 meters at night - 3 hits on an enemy (body is shaking on each impact) - but the AI wins. 1-Shot kill - non scoped, no NV. I guess everyone knows moments like this. 2. Little Bird: I think the lil bird is just hated by the developers. Year 2035... Low radar profile stuff, great armor, great weapons - but what about the lil bird? It`s still 1960(!) design. The miniguns are just a joke and it is hard to kill even soldiers. Not sure if the armor is so great, but killing like it was meant does not work out anymore. Shooting at vehicles with the minigun is close to ammo-wasting. Talking about the rockets... Rockets? Even a normal BTR takes plenty of !rockets! So if it`s 2035 - there should be rockets, which destroys a BTR with a single one? A common situation is: Attacking a BTR with rockets, land, take the Titan with AT missile, destroy it. The lil bird has like no armor. Normal guns render a lil bird unuseable with 2-3 hits. It doesn`t even have flares. So in 2035 there is still 1960 lil bird, facing 2035 technology enemys. Sucks (big time). But hey, there is a great bonus: IF you destroy a BTR with the lil bird - you`ll score zero points! 3. FM: Arma3 does not advertise acarde gaming. Why the copters have a FM, which reminds on iOS gameplay? Why don`t you make it more realistic and/or hard to fly a helicopter? Snipers in Arma3 need to hold their breath for a precise shot - but flying a helicopter needs to be freaking easy? Does not make sense to me. If Arma3 claims to be a simulation - it should be normal, that a 10 yo can`t fly a copter... If you want anyone to be able to fly a helicopter - great - but please don`t call it simulation anymore. The argument, that customers (may) want it that way is a no-go. There are enough FPS games, having a similar FM - but they don`t claim to offer a simulation. So what`s the point? Beeing scared, that less PPL will buy Arma3 if it is too hard to fly a copter does not sound fair - regarding to the strength of the AI in close combat. I could go on - but I don`t want to make the posting too long to read it. Kinda regards, Nik

    I hope the linux dedicated server will be at least same speed/performance compared to the windows version. In arma2 the windows dedi performs much better ;(
  18. Hi, I got the problem that the kills for everything out of the little bird do not count. When shooting with guided weapons from ka60 the score for infantry and vehicle kills do count. As soon using the little bird, I get not score at all. I could not find any reason for it - and it`S kind of strange since killing vehicles with not guided weapons is way harder then fire and forget ;) Did I miss something in the editor, or is this a bug? greets, Nik
