I painstakingly placed all these manually.

    Thanks for these very useful

What the hell are cats eyes on a helmet?

My pleasure! I can probably ask for more pictures on helmet scrim/virtus gear as a whole if you like.

And 'Cats Eyes' is that green band with the white rectangles on the back. They are basically luminous strips that kind of glow so you can see your buddies in night conditions.

Whats ur guys opinion on the reworked scrim i started today? ignore the textures just threw em on to get the idea!

Definitely an improvement! A friend of mine has sent pictures of his Virtus helmet to use for reference pics if you like, it might be a bit overkill for Arma but I figured I'd send it over anyways.

reference webbing radio, here are some pics of various 354 pouches. JDownwards's video link shows them in use with virtus in the last minute or so.

hope these are of some use!

    Just a couple of questions

    • Are you going to make TFAR work with the signallers vest
    • Are you going to make a weapons pack
    • Are you going to add the Rifles Regiment
    • How long till other variants come out
    • Are you going to retexture the scrim helmets

    holy first post batman!

He's already planned scrim, he's already planned other variants (of which your question for release date is a no no), he's already stated that he will add in reg/bde flashes for those who ask... maybe you should try reading the other posts in this thread.

Good to hear you're back in Mike!

IMHO the RAF beret looks best, not because it's RAF :f:, but because it has the badge over the left eye.

So I think the other berets would look much better with their badges aligned over the left eye.

Also, though it's great to see berets, how many troops go into combat with berets today (instead of helmets), apart from peace-keeping ops?

Agreed.. however when we put the infantry berets' backing and cap stars over the left eye it made the beret look like something found on an african war lord.

These were edited by our mod creation team from source files given to us from Steel, who I believe gave them to you guys in 3CB. The infantry berets unfortunately look a bit odd due to the backing and cap stars looking horrible above the left eye where they should be, so we moved them more to the side. It seems to be the Ally thing to do these days anyways. (Too bad there aren't any flat cap models :don11:)

    Thanks eggbeast.

Our very kind Mr lifetap has been working on the Guards parade berets, so you should see something nice in the next release - but please don't ask for a date - it will come when other things in the pack are also done.

I reckon it'll be the limited edition "LimboLife" beret that will be in most demand though.  Burn the heretic.  ;-)

We at the 20th AIB previously used Scots Guards as an attachment and accordingly have their 3 different berets plus the RAMC attachment version that we no longer use. I'll see if the mod creation team can donate them!

  7. Hi all! Great work on the mods. Really loving the new rail covers and the UKSF weapon systems!

Regarding the pack, I have 2 questions.

    1) Has the SUSAT been changed at all? It seems to be lower quality than the previous versions with the reticule now larger and popping up from below the screen now, and the sight picture being more stretched. Perhaps I have the wrong settings.

    2) Are there plans for the Javelin system to be able to mount on a tripod? It is a bit rough trying to fight weapon sway for long range targets, and the tripod would help stabilise it and also provide a great asset for defence situations.

    Here are some reference pics:

Thanks for all the hard work you all do!

  8. ...Still, I hope the 'officers' in the BAF clans will like it for their briefings. :D

Tucked jacket AND rolled sleeves? LOVE IT.

...Once we have that, we can rescale all of our Osprey MK4 vests to fit it more closely (they will be less bulky as we'll have access to all of the uniform weights and therefore we can make the vests move more accurately with the uniform). We will also be able to fit the kneepads, add the belt, put a better thigh holster onto the uniform so that it all fits more seamlessly together.

Do you plan for more pouch layouts (ammo left, medical right, admin/radio front, utility rear) or more proper looking pouches? And are holsters on the Osprey feasible with the new show-pistol-in-holster thingy?

I totally love the new screenies and it's good to hear what's coming up. I eagerly await release. You guys are doing phenominal jobs!

  9. OP ALKEKENGI I

As of 4 JUNE 2016, elements of the 20th AIB as apart of the 1 Scots Guards Battle Group, have been conducting COIN operations in the Reshmaan Province AOR. Although met with steady resistance, 1 Platoon have been successful with our current mission.

    General Updates

  10. And how should it be, in your opinion?

Hey there Chairborne, I didn't mean any offence with my comment. I was referring to a more realistic representation of the current FV510 including HEI-T and APSD-T limited to 6 round loads to reflect the use of the 3 round clips that feed the L21A1 RARDEN, along with a cannon Rate of Fire of 90 rounds a minute. From there, including the L94A1 Chain Gun with a rate of fire of 500-520 rounds a minute. The turret would be fully de-stabilised giving the crew a bit more of a challenge. Maybe even the gunner's sight. Stuff like that.

Which is one reason I'm interested in Burnes' possible iteration of Warrior because of his use of full vehicle interiors. It brings all the more immersion and challenge into the game which is personally what I enjoy.

The unit I'm currently with have been using a modified vanilla Mora to fit my above description minus gunner's sight but it's just not a proper WRAP 2 that we'd see today and I know Burnes had already been working on the Warrior at one point.

  11. Hi burnes - love your models - can I ask why though your doing warrior next when there's already one available with cups. I think what's missing is some proper Mann Brit army trucks ie logistics as well as personnel transport. It would also be cool to have some engineering vehicles whether armoured jcb, or things like Trojan.

Burnes keeps his mods faithful to the real life versions. CUP's versions don't realistically portray the Warrior as it really is unfortunately.

Plus full working interiors is a plus. Would be nice to see a WRAP 2 with all the goodies inside and out.

Scimitar would be nice to see later on down the line... Perhaps if ever a FV103 (Spartan) is done, all that needs to be added is the RARDEN turret and Bang, Scimitar Mk. 2. 2 birds, one stone.

  12. New Website

We've opened up a website now, meaning we no longer rely on steam to communicate unit events.

    This can be found here.

    Upcoming Campaign

Beginning 4 JUNE 2016, we will begin our first, albeit small, campaign starting on Reshmaan Province. This operation will see us providing the light infantry role for a COIN mission.

Pre-deployment training is currently underway led by our training team.

    General Updates

As we draw closer to our normal activation date, we've been preparing our server and modpack for what we'll be needing. We've nearly completed all training courses, and will be starting them mid-June. If all goes well, we wil begin Mid-July.

We've also been busy creating in-house mods to suit our various needs.

    Thanks,

Charlie1210 and the 20th AIB Team

  13. Background
The 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade was founded in November of 2015 by friends without sufficient time or hardware enough to fully commit to a proper MilSim unit- but still want to play professionally as a part of a team.

    Mission
Our current aim is to provide a professional unit that realistically recreates the role of British Armoured Infantry. In this role, the FV510 WARRIOR sees use within the section for the infantry to fight with and out of.

We are also well versed in dismounted infantry tactics for varied operations, and for operations with other units where the use of Warrior wouldn't be necessary.

Our overall goal is to provide a unit which uses realistic British SOP's as best as possible, whilst also having fun and banter.

    Who We're Looking For
We are looking for people who are motivated to create a unique MilSim experience. Since we aim to recreate a realistic representation of the British Army, we'd love to find personnel with previous military experience, with experience using WARRIOR and Armoured Infantry, and those with leadership and management experience.

As it is, we currently have a fair amount of members who are current or former service members of the British, US, Danish, and Croatian Armed Forces, including members who have served within the actual 20th AIB itself. If you would like to advise or help out, please give us a shout, and we will do our best to accomodate you!

We're also looking for modders to help with the creation of realistic in-game variants of the FV510, FV103, FV107, and AS90. We are indeed willing to donate to those willing to help.

If you'd like to join a MilSim unit, but do not have the time for regular attendance, consider checking us out. We offer a reserves programme which accommodates your availability once you've completed your training.

    Things to Note

    • Regular trainings are on Wednesdays and Operations are on Saturdays, both at 1900 UK time, unless we are doing special events or joint operations.

    • We are looking for people aged 16 and up, especially those with prior military or cadets experience

    • Please do not ask us to merge with your unit. We will not accept any offers.

    • We are open to joint operations provided you use ACRE2 and allow joint training to be conducted beforehand.

    • We do not have Sodexo Catering or friday afternoon weapons cleaning, and when you finish your CIC we give you a virtual daysack (which also works at night).

    • We are a Military Simulation unit. We do our best to implement tactics and SOP's that are in use within the British Army. As such, we have a strenuous training programme and qualifications to be earned, and we expect a certain level of maturity and discipline from our members. We do not, however, require members to address each other by rank or act a certain way outside of the game. This is, after all, a video game and lines have been drawn that we do our best not to cross.

    Summary and Contact Info
We're a tight-knit MilSim unit focussed on British Armoured Infantry. Looking for those with military, cadets, or leadership experience. Training/Operations wednesdays/saturdays, 1930 UK. Realistic training and performance, without the real army bullshit. Custom in-house mods and a strong forces-based membership

  14. Hmm, so it is the brightness that is the issue. My mistake. If that is the case, it must be the underlying texture files (.smdi, .as, .nohq) for the vest causing it as the same section of mtp pattern for the uniform was applied to all of the vests and other pieces of equipment. The MOLLE webbing strips and small pouches near the velcro section on the chest are purposely slightly different colours.

Interesting. Looking at it more, it does seem the pattern is correct, just with the lighting issues the carrier is abnormally bright, causing the PALS webbing colour to match the uniform rather than its normal darker shade.

  15. The reason why it is like that is because it tends to be like that in RL. The vest webbing / mtp texture appears different to the uniform:

    OspreyMK4vest.jpg

On the contrary, it seems the MkIVa overall camouflage is the same MTP as the uniform, with the MOLLE PALS webbing being a darker colour than the rest.

From what I've seen, along with some pictures I've found, the pattern on the carrier and on the uniforms are without any real differences, whereas in game, the carrier is considerably- and noticeably brighter than the rest of the kit.

    20111216_rsignals_cpl-birkett_001.jpg

    As such.

Just my 2 cents; the effort put in by you and the team has been phenomenal and I appreciate the work you're doing!

  16. That is exactly how it works, with or without ACE. Think of the inventory of the vehicle in the same way as a player inventory. The more mags you fit in your vest or pack, the more you carry and can use. The Jackal / Coyote inventory now works like that. Pile a load of 7.62 GPMG belts in there for the Commander's gun, and the .50cal or Grenade Belts for the HMG and GMG respectively. If you are going out as a convoy and the lead vehicle fires all of his magazines off, you can just pull up alongside in another vehicle, drag belts out of the inventory, and throw them into the lead vehicle, just like sharing out magazines between players.

I am quite impressed with the way you've done this-- it adds that extra bit of realism. ^_^

Would something like this be possible with a turreted vehicle, e.g. Warrior, with 2 different weapon systems in 1 seating position?
