Time of day and colors are wrong

US and Greece are roughly the same? And here I was thinking Greece was in Europe :(

    Run in bush

    Didn't see a ticket so I made one: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=9663
  3. Alpha ends today, right? Anyone know the exact time? Midnight? I'm up to 84 hours plus 4 before I bought it so I'm gonna stop at 88 and not go for 99 because I'm not sure if I can play another 10 hours straight before it ends. I ended it with an hour of trying Headhunters solo. 3 allies down at the first officer, 3 at the second so in the end it was just me. Stocked up on grenades and was gonna grenade launch Rogain but was scared into a valley and caught by patrols. It was entertaining though. So I guess now it’s just 1 week rest until we’ve got more content and more bugs to report, right?

Alpha Lite ends on June 25th

Nice, I'll take your word for it then! Will continue tomorrow night then. Still wanna beat all Showcases and the included missions on Elite and I encountered several new bugs tonight that I probably should report.

Alpha Lite ends on June 25th

Alpha stops selling today. Does it not also close? Heard a lot of people saying it but having trouble finding an official statement anywhere indeed. Also doesn't the Beta launch the 25th? Edit: Oh! Well nice then! I do have the complete Alpha bought already. Guess there's no way to rename the thread so go wild in it until it's locked. Got any source on the date by the way?
  6. No need to triangulate and shit on Stratis. Altis will be bigger but in a modern game those skills aren't as important as in vintage mods.
  7. No, it isn't. Not ARMA3.

    [Request] Walkable Interior of Vehicles

I'd love for vehicles to become less static, more living things. 1) No cuts in animations when getting into or out of the vehicle or changing seats. 2) Actually being able to change seats without exiting the vehicle in some special emergency situations. 3) Being able to move around a bit more by adjusting your position up and down... you can lean but I keep forgetting how to because it's tricky. 4) Being able to shoot a gun from within vehicles. 5) When driving on a bumpy road you should actually shake around a bit and when crashing you should be pushed forward, fly into the air and such. The Far Cry series has great animations for getting into vehicles and changing seats where your character actually climbs around the car if I remember it right. Right now vehicles are just static objects with "slots" that players fill when they get in.

    Tips on flying a helicopter?

I wanna know how to make good "gun runs." Hard to stabilize not to mention seeing anyone unless you do a scout fly-by before returning or know exactly where your targets are. I think I've mastered basic flying though. Can fly superlow. Can't do that amazing ARMA2 emergency landing bullshit though but Stratis is so hilly I doubt it'd work. Gonna watch that. Gotta be more than basics in 50 mins.
  10. I like having to navigate but yeah realistically I guess a small handheld GPS would be the most realistic. I don't think it should be able to give driving directions though. I don't think there are any on islands?

    Helicopter zoom problems

Made a report here: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=9561 Basically we do have problems with zooming and locking across infantry and helicopters. What I want: As infantry I want RMB Click to toggle optics and Hold RMB to zoom. As AT infantry I want RMB Click to toggle optics and Hold RMB to zoom and lock on. As helicopter I want RMB Click to lock on and Hold RMB to zoom. Right now this seems impossible to me, so upvote. Even if not impossible to bind somehow it is not default and should be because it would be a lot more effective for reasons explained in the report.
  12. Hey, I used to be able to temporarily zoom by holding right mouse button while in a chopper but then I redid my keybindings again and now when I right click it just toggles the zoom. What's the proper way to set it up? By the way is there any analog or continuous zoom? The rangefinder is pretty useless when the only modes are unzoomed and x1000.
  13. I like the red circle but it should probably only be on Veteran and not Elite. It suggests that the player character somewhat knows the area which he should if he's on a military operation there. On Elite players should have to keep it all in their heads though.

    Any planes or jets?

NO. Jets are too unrealistic and will make ARMA into an arcade game! :)
  15. Compass on map? What for? Up is north.
  16. Opening doors, getting into vehicles and that sort of stuff should always be possible by simply pressing space but all actions involving explosives, changing weapons and such should require the player to scroll down and when actions become unavailable they should simply turn grey and not disappear from the list which puts you at the next option automatically. You can bind weapon selection to keys already. One key for gun-handgun and one for gun-launcher. Can’t set to cycle all three or make one button for each though.
  17. I've never played around with those settings much. Changed them to be more like yours. Don't think it will make a big difference though.
  18. My Orbweaver arrived today. It's a neat keypad with cherry blue switches in case anyone's got any questions in mind. I'd highly recommend keypads. I've used the Nostromo since November and it’s really neat to use. It’s got 16 buttons, 8-direction directional joystick and scroll wheel. It’s just what you’ll need. Occasionally I’d want another row of buttons and that’s just one of the Orbweaver’s many improvements. One neutral change though is that the scroll wheel is gone. A negative change is that the backlighting is exclusively green in different brightness settings or even slowly pulsating though as soon as I’m sure mine works the way it should I’m going to unscrew mine and change to sweet blue. If you like green it’s perfect though. A minor cosmetic sorta issue is that the cable is unbraided. My thumb part is also slightly wiggly though I’m going to ask around if it’s a defective unit or will have to be repaired by sticking a thin sheet of paper into where the thumb part attaches to the main unit or something such. I’m sure it can be easily mended but it’s not so nice for a £100 product. The Orbweaver does seem nice but apparently will need some minor adjustments before it is indisputable. Does seem like something I could be using for years. Now it’s time to playtest it to see how well blues work for gaming though! http://blog-imgs-53.fc2.com/w/a/t/watchmonoblog/Razer_Orbweaver_92.jpg (128 kB) Nostromo left, Orbweaver right. Right now I wish my G9 mouse had more buttons though. I'd like to be able to zero, elevate, change weapons and modes right on the mouse so I'm considering a MMO7 but will probably go for a cheaper stylish Abbysus or Orochi instead. Recommending the HP Zr24w monitor too by the way. I'll use it until it breaks.
  19. We're probably discussing the default setting which will ship with the game. Even if anyone will be able to modify it the vast majority will probably use the default setting.

    Movement speed tweaking

Wait, what doesn't work well? Deadzone? I think I tried it out and didn't notice anything. If it's broken make a ticket, how else do you expect BIS to know it's broken?
  21. If there's a 100% punishment people can intentionally make you kill them and get you a ban and if there's 100% no punishment players will abuse it. Make any direct or in-direct killing of teammates punishable and add an option for players to forgive them -- all problems solved right? Also having mines not detonate on friendlies would be a good solution actually. Abusers could put a bunch of mines down and trick enemies into walking onto them while he runs straight across them but that would only be realistic still since he would know exactly where he put them. Clouse enough for me anyways.
  22. Well, I put a downvote. Unless you can explain exactly how you would want the system to work other than adding another 10 damn radio command menus. I can imagine simply pressing a "spotting" button and pointing it at a location to make your character automatically say time of day, your location, targeted location and then selecting from a list of options for different unit types, then numbers of that unit, then next unit type if there are several types then press 0 to finish and move on to an activity list with 9 different activities whatever activities you would be saying... not sure why anyone would use that system instead of voice communication though since it's possible to relay information quicker and more accurately that way. Or are you saying this should be some sort of text system? We can chat already. All in all this is such a poor suggestion because you are very unclear about what you even want to have.

    Movement speed tweaking

Actually I'm not sure what negative acceleration is or how it works technically and haven't played a lot of ARMA2 that supposedly has it. Apparently it does make some people go bonkers though. ARMA has so much sway and shit going on not to mention bullet drop and wind ballistics once the bullet goes flying I don't really know what difference it possible could make anyways.
  24. Min 55 fps? :D I'm going to enjoy upgrading by the end of summer. I'm probably going to get all crazy and turn the settings up until I hit 20 fps minimum again though. About what equipment do you use though?
  25. Anyone who is disappointed with their framerate should tweak. A lot of settings don't have any impact at all. Some settings only matter if they’re on or not so if you do activate them you may as well crank them up all the way and it won’t slow you down proportionally. Avoid post-processing. I would recommend low which adds a dreamy HDR effect that everyone may not enjoy but normal only adds depth of field at a considerable loss in performance and higher settings only add sliiightly deeper shadows that really wouldn’t show at all during actual gameplay in the scenes I tried it in. Don’t avoid post-processing anti-aliasing though, or x2 anti-aliasing for that matter. Especially PPAA does wonders for image sharpness when aiming down the gun sights Anisotropic, PPA and ATOC don’t cause any noticeable performance loss. However they also really don’t do much except for PPA which does have a great effect. Don’t chicken out on the great HDR setting! I have no idea what impact dynamic lights has though… and clouds don’t seem to have any effect. Disable or Ultra – whatever you think looks the best. On anything above disabled the clouds will spin awkwardly. Go for high texture quality settings and really try to go for shadows high but objects quality can be medium and terrain quality anything you want really… particles should probably be pretty low really but smokes will slow your game to a crawl regardless anyways. If you're not doing so well turn anything that has no apparent effect down and if you're cocky turn everything that has no apparent performance impact up!
