Night showcase is stupidly dark. I had a lot of trouble hitting the guys with the flashlights because all I could see was their lights shining somewhere in front of them and my muzzle flash. I shoot, wait to see shit and suddenly they’ve sprinted a hundred meters further away. At least they didn’t shoot back at all. Definitely should have nighties in there.

I call bullshit. Obsessive amounts of weapons, ground vehicles, boats, underwater vehicles, submarines, helicopters and jets but the elusiveness of a woman's skeleton is what's going to delay this game into 2014? I wouldn't care if the game only had two helicopters if they could get women into it because weapons, vehicles and other assets can all be added comfortably later in expansion packs while requiring people to pay to play women would be outrageous. I most certainly think women are a bigger feature than... *gasp* yet ANOTHER new helicopter? If they're not in retail I at least want to hear an official statement on it at the time of release. Adding them in after release wouldn’t be too bad but still awkward.

By the way how the hell do you bind a joystick? Mine's got like two-three buttons on the face and one under the thumb, then six on the base of the joystick and naturally a hat-switch which I guess should be bound to temporarily looking in 8 directions.

How about a ticket against relative call outs? In the big new Showcase where you attack an outpost with APCs I always have a guy screaming "ENEMY, BEHIND US!!!" and I'm like what the hell... it really never helps duh.

SSAO (something something ambient occlusion), rabbits... and women in the game would create more than "immersion" per se. Still a valid point. Rabbits, snakes... if I remember correctly ARMA2 had playable chickens and whatnot with their own obstacle courses. Hardly fit for a hardcore infantry simulator.

US averages don’t matter much since everyone doesn’t join the Army randomly anyways. I did miss that women are only serving front-line air crew and at sea officially. I thought that "gun crew" was in ground combat. Nevertheless women are allowed in ground combat nowadays. And have served in ground combat despite official records not saying so for some time. Defining frontlines is though nowadays too as has been mentioned. I wouldn’t know what to call a frontline since WWII.

If sensitivity didn’t decrease when zooming you wouldn’t hit a wall. Or the sea while underwater. Could definitely be an option... along with "hold to decrease sensitivity by x%".

Sports are all about world records and men do have higher average physique and higher world bests but that doesn’t even mean the average men joining the army have higher average physiques than women who do the same you know. Skimpy 50 kg models don’t really enlist casually. Didn’t say so either, methinks. One article mentions about 15% of military being women and 3% of frontline infantry being women. Other says Air Force, Navy SEALs and so on are going probably to open up for some women by 2016. Navy is already open. I would also think artillery units are already open too. Special Forces like the Air Force, SEALs, Rangers and Green Berets (if that’s referring to a specific organization) are currently not open but being considered. Given another 10 years I bet we’ll have some eligible women at least. It’s a pretty old request. I think the system has changed a couple of times. Trying to be racist against Muslims here? I’ll have you know we don’t care much for either Muslims or Americans in Europe. Or being dumb against Greeks? I don't think forced marriage is a general issue there and a big island ought to have many women.

Are all women 120 pounds and all men 180 pounds though? The average weight of American women is 164 pounds and 180 pounds is the maximum allowed weight for an average soldier based on some very brief research. Which would lead me to believe that well trained women may weight more than 120 pounds (model weight lol) and that male soldiers may weigh less than 180 pounds. Except I'm the only one using information directly from the Pentagon as a source in this thread from what I can tell.

I use the defaults and Mouse4 to change firing modes and Mouse5 to toggle zoom out for inaccurate CQB situations. I’d consider changing Hold RMB to optics + zoom now that it’s possible for quick aiming but then I’d have to bind Mouse4 to zooming while freelooking unless the game could be made never switch to optics while the freelooking button is held and I do like changing firing modes on the mouse a lot. By the way Ctrl+M4 and Ctrl+M5 to zero weapons!

I think being a head shorter would be significant enough to counterbalance a somewhat smaller hitbox. Changing the running speed is absurd because I don't see any truth to it and nearly same with the stamina. Combat women have the same stamina even if they do wear out over years of service. At least I don’t think the stamina difference between men and women could be accurately modelled without scientific support… the fatigue model for men already seems pretty shaky. What the hell are you on about? The FEEDBACK tracker was indeed made for feature requests.

According to someone in this thread the engines animations work by relative positions or if it was the other way around and I’m guessing a new skeleton would need a completely new set of animations or possibly have the others be painstakingly translated somehow… since the engine isn’t intended to have a lot of different skeletons they’re going with methods that are versatile for working with one skeleton but useless for having many skeletons apparently. Makes sense. And women would need slightly changed skeletons not to clip into stuff and be able to be thinner and not look funny when running.

Yeah, involvement is nice. Since you could control landing gear at least in jets in ARMA2 it will probably be possible here too.

By 2016 they aim to fully integrate women into the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Special Forces including the Army Rangers, Navy Seals and so on and aim to have a women in every combat unit though no decisions have been made yet obviously.
