Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Sneakson replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes, you should be able to run it. We have similar specs so check my signature for my game settings. -
[VIDEO] MythBusting the ARMA3 AI: Is it really "superhuman" or not?
Sneakson replied to Katulobotomia's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Yesterday I saw three enemies on a hill 700-900 meters away at night and one of them shot once standing up and killed me instantly without even being a sniper. Possibly a marksman. I was lying down and made several shots at them without hitting because I couldn't zero down the exact distance properly and they went from running around to shooting me just like that. By the way in the duel you know exactly what’s going on and where your enemy is while the AI is born right there on the battlefield and you expect it to assess the situation, drop and shoot all in less than a second? -
BIS said there will be more already. Hm, I think 37s-something would be possible on Orange... can't do better than my near 38 time though. My first try for the day was 48, then 44, then 42, then I got 41… and so it goes. Maybe gonna try harder tonight. I think I may have to decrease my mouse sensitivity though. I think I did my record with about 75% of my current 10cm/360 sensitivity. Probably the typical downvote idiots everywhere that thinks implementing every single feature would take so much time it would be the only thing BIS could do from now to release.

Water simulation, visual and physical
Sneakson replied to GranolaBar's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I think Hydrophobia had a somewhat advanced water simulation though simulating an ocean would be difficult. -

Arma 3 - Custom Controls / Keybinds
Sneakson replied to MacStanley's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I think custom controls are for auto-selecting number 1, number 2 and so on in the action menu but since they jump around all the time they're pretty useless and no keyboard in the world has enough keys to use them well. -
units screaming voice commands
Sneakson replied to Typhoonbot's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
They were probably running through bushes, flying helicopters upside down or had someone put a really heavy weapon on his collarbone as research before implementing bush movement slowdown, even more realistic heli physics and weapon resting :p -

7. I could be wrong but looking at my readings from a lot of play yesterday I didn't see full memory usage at any time though maybe that's not possible because of some other factors. I saw someone write that less still than 3.25 is actually available in practice. But I also get 0% performance difference when running several background programs which also would support that ARMA doesnt use a lot of RAM. -
Creating enemies in random positions
Sneakson posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hey, is there an easy way to select a radius and have enemies randomly spawn in this radius? I thought the modules would work but then I tried spawning Opfor in Agia Marina only 3-4 guys spawn in the very middle even when the radius covers the entire area around Marina. Creating a clump of enemies with spawn radius also works like shit because all except one guy spawns in the default position anyways. Gonna keep experimenting. -

8GB RAM? I'm on 32-bit Windows and have 4, so that's 3.25 usable and when playing only like 2 is ever used... I don't think ARMA uses a lot of RAM at all. -

MOVING MOVING MOVING I'LL COVER I'LL COVER! I'm going to end up killing them all, taking their grenades and going solo one day. -
If you think, your the first whos pointing that out, your wrong.

Finally a patch... I was getting really demoralized. I spent 1:50 playing Headhunters. Ended up being one-shotted by a standing enemy some 700-900 meters away and I bet it wasn’t even a sniper. Sure was fun though. Only a couple of hundred times better designed than Whole Lotta Suckis… I also noticed you can now crawl on your ass if you sit down but only using rifles. Damn cute. I always notice more bugs than improvements though. Try switching weapon while you’re using the binos… stuck in choppy, glitch animation. Also the 3D scopes look absolutely terrible when you’ve got a light reflection right in the middle of it and you can see it is divided like a spider’s web in the middle.

This isn't DOS lol!

I'd love it but I guess it would involve rendering the entire scene both zoomed and unzoomed if not done smartly.

Sneakson replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Everything high - no. But a mix between Standard, High, Very High and Ultra yes. Especially Visibility will have to be lower than high. Check my signature for my specs and settings. If you can candle my settings well then increase Visibility to 1600/1300/100, Objects & Terrain Quality to High, SSAO Standard then either increase your Visibility even more or try FSAA x2 which drains a lot of juice though so increasing your Visibility is probably more worth it. Don’t go any lower than average 30 fps in big battles and average 40 or 50 fps when there’s little or no action such as in Showcase: Infantry which is pretty relaxed. Now about your potential overheating… the 560 Ti is very warm and more importantly sounds like a fucking jet plane. Download MSI Afterburner, GPU-Z or any other program that lets you monitor internal temperatures and see how hot it gets while playing. Ideally it shouldn’t be more than 50-70 degrees Celsius when playing and absolutely not more than 100 degrees. Make sure your computer has plenty or breathing room and don’t keep it in a locker unless the locker is ventilated. I had to buy three different 560 cards before I got one that worked properly. If your card seems unreasonably hot you may have a bad card and should try getting another one on warranty and seeing if it is also hot. You may have to downclock your card slightly and adjust the voltage though that is not something you should do unless you know about overclocking. Now if you want your 560 to both drop temperature by like 20-50 degrees and be so quiet you will never hear it again even when it is spinning at maximum capacity buy this magic machine: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/554/accelero-xtreme-iii.html?c=2182 For only about $100 it works wonders. I remember the 560 sounding like a hair dryer at 50% fan speed and now I can’t hear it at all over the other fans in my computer. It takes some knowing to apply it – you have to paste some metal parts onto this thing and then screw it to your card or something such but you can probably find a guide somewhere and it’s no more difficult than LEGO. By the way screen resolution and OS is always pretty relevant when you're posting specs. -
I wouldn't complain about textures. They have already confirmed we will have much better textures... currently we only have a Very High setting. Crazy LOD flickering on Standard Object Detail and to some degree on other settings is a bigger problem. There are many big graphics problems though.

separate zoom function from Lock target function
Sneakson replied to tremanarch's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=9561 There's no way that works well both as infantry and heli. -
The current editor is awkwardly unfriendly considering it’s available right on the main menu as if it would be someone anyone was supposed to use. Nearly nothing can be done without scripting and sitting with notepad or other external programs. Watch StarEdit and learn.

What computing system do you have for the Arma 3 Beta?

Well, maybe it won't be different then :p We can always hope though. -
Anyone know what these commands do at the top of their heads? Toggle full HUD info (toggles diamond markers?) Raise weapon (raises weapon temporary? Sounds useless) Gun elevation (zeroing for grenade launchers?) Slow gun elevation Auto elevation Reveal target Next target (several commands) Head roll (lean in vehicles?) Zoom in continuos (only for analog controls?) Turn in/out Use action Also does anyone know any useful commands not in the game menus currently?

Are Devs Going to be Improving their Current Engine for Arma 3?
Sneakson replied to Dreadfullz's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Change weapons while walking yes. Building destruction or more immersive vehicles unfortunately not very likely.
