Stance icon disappears when sitting down

If it's a bug, report it using the feedback tracker.
  2. Oh, so this thread is where I saw someone with SLI issues, right! Update your drivers. ARMA3 got NVidia SLI support only days ago. At least I think that's how it works.
  3. Hm, okay. A complete, already built and working computer I guess? What else did you get? Depending on what else you got it sounds a bit on the expensive side by about $200 but it’s still $300 less than what most people buy to run the game well so if it runs well then it’s nice.
  4. Meh, I'm not sure about turn speed really. Crosshairs going where you want is very important. The only time turning quickly looks really dumb is when you’re prone so I think there should absolutely be a pretty strong negative acceleration when trying to turn more than about 45 degrees or something such. I don’t think there should be any other limits though. I mean it’s possible to turn around pretty quick in reality and unless you have a nice 120 Hz monitor you’re still going to have to pause to spot enemies after turning around unless it’s very CQB. We definitely need inertia to slow down movement when changing movement direction though but it shouldn’t affect turning speed in case someone was suggesting that. Instead turn speed should affect movement and if you spin around like a fool you should be stuck in position.
  5. What's does it cost? Solid parts anyways and you should be able to run it on some mix of very high settings smoothly and probably Ultra maybe depending on what visibility range you want. Maybe even run default Ultra. Not the newest components but they should work well for ARMA3. ARMA wants a strong processor and less strong graphics card and that’s pretty much what you’ve got right there. I'm no AMD guy, but in a quick comparison it seems what you've already got should be stronger than what I've got by some 10-20% and I'm running in on a standard-high mix in about 50 fps. If you're having issues then reinstall the game, update your drivers, make sure everything is plugged in okay, clean your computer or reinstall your OS. Unless there's some obvious AMD issue I'm missing I'd say something is wrong becuase your gear doesn't look so crappy. How do other games work? Maybe some component is broken. ---------- Post added at 15:41 ---------- Previous post was at 15:32 ---------- Yes, that CPU is apparently quite weak... doesn't look terrible but some guys say it is and I can't argue otherwise. Like really weak probably. Seems you should get at least a somewhat stronger CPU but then again ARMA is CPU-heavy and there's no reason to make a small upgrade so I would recommend making a big one to i5 4670K which is only like $275 and no GPU in the world will bottleneck you. You're probably going to need a new socket motherboard too but you can keep the graphics card, then make sure you have at least 4GB RAM and you'll run the game like a boss most likely.
  6. Bah! I should start reading the news daily. Samsung 840 Evo, new SSD in beginning of August and a MSI GTX 770 Gaming apparently available now which is a lot cheaper ($100) than the 770 I'm planning on buying in a week so I'm definitely going to have to look into this. Edit: apparently the Gaming is just the Lightning little brother. Not much annonced about the SSD but it will be available up to 1 terabyte and apparently be quicker than previous versions at least in some regards so we'll see soon I guess. Oh and since this is a tech-related thread: Nvidia drivers now support ARMA SLI apparently.

    ArmA 3: E-sport ready?

As already mentioned to become an e-sport several things are needed: 1) People who want to play the game professionally. 2) A big audience that wants to see the game be played professionally. 3) Many perfectly even yet interesting scenarios. 4) A lot of developer effort. 5) Sponsors etc. The biggest one is getting a big audience and unfortunately ARMAs vanilla gameplay isn’t very well suited to be a spectator sport unless it is compressed into Counter Strike-style size in which case it would be a lot less smooth than Counter Strike and not offer many news. When the game is out we can probably start designing some competitive scenarios but I don’t see ARMA being an e-sport until ARMA4 assuming BIS have grown a lot by then and have the people necessary to make the effort.
  8. SSAO is a big, big performance hit and only adds some minimal shading you couldn't even tell was there unless you looked at screenshot comparisons.
  9. Oh okay. Well if 840 is arguably overpriced it makes sense to recommend 840 Pro which is even more overpriced? :p Anyways I've only tried one Intel SSD and getting my second which benchmarks twice as high in a couple of weeks and I've been told I probably won't notice any difference other than switching my mobo from SATA2 to SATA3. Samsung 840 120GB has a lower “average data rate†whatever that translates to in reality and I guess the 840 Pro 128GB is only slightly more expensive but the 840 250GB and 840 Pro 256GB differ nearly $100 in price where I live and do have nearly the same average data rate. I was told there’s no big practical difference and that the only thing that differs is the write speed and not the reading speed at least in the case of the 250GB vs Pro 256GB and there’s the TLC vs MLC thing which only extends the life of the discs that are going to last way longer than this technology will be desirable anyways. Maybe you’re right but $100 isn’t an insignificant amount and you may as well spend it on a better chassis, more memory, a better mouse, another terabyte of HDD or maybe even save it for a better graphics card which I think will be a lot more bang for your buck than somewhat higher SSD write speed. The Pro model will be more worth it if you're doing a lot of writing in other words installing and uninstalling a lot of programs and lasts longer but when either disk dies you're going to want a new one anyways because they will be stone age. Edit: Actually according to SSDer.se you'll get most for your money if you buy 840 Pro 128GB but if you want 250GB you're better off buying the non-Pro. But best of all disks is naturally Pro 256GB.
  10. So many new posts... banzai! In no particular order: (Sort of sloppy answers but I'm a bit tired anyways) Ebay is really nice usually. Stay safe though and test the item once it arrives. Check out my settings for tweaking tips. Textures: Very High doesn't cost much at all. Objetcs and Terrain: High or higher draws a lot of juice. Shadow: Change to HIGH immediately. For many users LOW cuts more framerate than HIGH does because of how the load is balanced between cpu and gpu. HDR: Change to high. Otherwise the sky will be completely white and the colours will be all messed up. 1600/1300 visibility is good. Don't change Shadow. In my testing lowering it did not increase framerate and increasing it did lower framerate. I would recommend all blur and depth of field on because they didn't impact performance for me and decrease temporal aliasing and even spatial aliasing to some degree. SSAO should be off. Never found out what Caustics does though but I think it only works underwater. Anisotropic filtering should be Ultra but it really doesn't matter... all that matters is on/off both for appearance and performance. It's a strange setting really. Hold it! Why the Samsung 840 Pro and not Samsung 840? I would argue strongly against that. The 840 non-pro is a LOT cheaper and has equal reading speed which is what matters. 840 Pro has faster writing speed which doesn't matter as much and also "lasts longer" but we're still talking incredible lifelengths for both. The "Pro" version is for servers, not casual consumers. Which i5 is it? The motherboard and RAM look good though. That card at that price does not look bad at all and with that processor I would guess you should have mid range settings 30-60 fps with the processor being the limiting factor. A little something like my settings I would guess though the graphics card on a very quick lookup seemed to be a chunk better than mine but then again ARMA runs on cpu and not graphics cards pretty much.
  11. I'm pretty sure texture quality doesn't change -- higher options simply disappear from the options menu. It's been a nearly 100% occuring bug since Alpha when changing settings a bit but I've never thought about reporting it.

    Questions about keys binding

If holding back does not produce "Hold Back" then that is a bug. Adjusting stance with mouse wheel is currently not possible but it has been requested before.

    Discussion on simplified features

Close this troll thread. ProGamer creates a thread about discussion and ends it right there giving us nothing to discuss. If you want people to discuss something then just come out and say it instead of being a silly crybaby who creates a thread implying there’s something you don’t like about the game but anyone else who dislikes something about it should fill in what it is for you. Think before you write and make a thread.
  14. I think their AI guy broke his collarbone. Not much to do lol.
  15. I would surely say so. Your graphics card is 10% weaker than mine. However CPU is what matters in ARMA and yours is a nice chunk better than mine not to mention you can probably overclock up to about 4 GHz which I have never done because heat is already an issue in my setup. Out of the box you should do better than my settings and with overclocking a lot better if you’re willing. So you’re definitely going to be able to play standard settings with a short visibility on high fps or a somewhat better visibility on much lower fps. It’s not an ideal build but if it’s really cheap it’s worth it. My framerate dips to 30 on maps with lots of ai which is worth noticing and currently multiplayer is a lot worse than singleplayer and all so overall you’re looking at playing the game at standard-high settings probably around 30-60 fps but as I said it’s not ideal. However 16GB RAM is too much for gaming… 8 is enough. I sure hope you’re using 64-bit Windows and at least a 1920x1080 monitor because that’s much more important. Edit: I agree with everything Ezcoo said.

    Arma 3 or Rambo 3?

You probably just got unlucky? I've had a couple of AI survive even on Elite.

Poll - Rather Modern or Futuristic?

Big Dogs! I completely forgot about them. We need the Big Dog in the game even if I think it's discontinued and replaced by another project in reality because it looks so damn cool and would work in the gameplay.

Action Menu - must do better

http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=10815 http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=10816 Here are my tickets for suggesting that we have one interaction button for interacting with whatever we are looking at and one for more consistent action menu. I mean NO other games ever have ever had this issue ever so clearly the devs are doing something wrong.
  19. With only two months to go and no big changes over the last three months other than in content I guess ARMA3 will be released with some issues. I just hope they can get the really big ones out: lower graphics settings being dull, outstanding aliasing of enemies, LOD craziness, unsmooth movement, unsmooth ai, low stamina and illogical damage system. They seem to have a difficult game engine and not have thoroughly thought through the core game design elements like not being able to lean while prone and a lot of things that just seem wrong when you actually play it.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

Samsung 840 120GB for $100+ or 250GB for less than $200 right now is both among the very quickest, stable and big for the buck.

will arma 3 use 8 cores

Battlefield is pretty much the only game that uses as many cores as is possible nowadays.
  22. Finally beat Headhunters tonight... 1:16:54... anyways freelook is broken especially when looking behind you while sprinting and then releasing freelook...

    LOD switching worse than ever?

Lodding is bad on standard settings but I didn't notice much at all when running it on high for a while.
  24. Well yeah... can't help but feel BIS should have worked harder on the very basics from the beginning before even thinking about submarines and all that and that their comparatively stiff engine may have painted themselves into a corner when it comes to smoothing out the gameplay.
  25. Has anyone found the pirate treasure yet? Is there one?
