I bought the standard Arma 3. I notice the digital deluxe version says it has digital maps. Could that be any more unclear? What does that mean? What exactly will I be missing and will I be able to buy the missing things separately?

I guess its like whether and weather. Based on the context I know what someone is saying when they say "bring the map up" vs "what map are we on". I have said "Map" more times in this thread than I have in the past 6 months I think lol.. Might as well put a quick NLP mention of "The map is not the territory" lol. (don't ask). Either way this whole thing is cleared up, nothing to worry about.

lol. I have played all the Armor series, although I still think of these islands as maps because I have been calling such a thing maps since the beginning of time lol.

Right, every game I have played has called them maps. COD series, Battlefield series, Half life, Counter Strike, Shattered Horizon, Soldier of Fortune series etc. Now you know why I was worried about potentially missing some "maps".

Yes, now, but what I am saying is that in every other game aside from Armor has called the levels/area of play maps. They have always been called maps. So that is what first comes to my mind when I hear map with regards to gaming. I like this map, I downloaded a map pack, this expansion comes with 4 new maps..

Yeah I had images of more details maps, aka islands (what I have always known as maps are the area you play on).

I am used to when people say "maps" that they mean the actual things we play on. I guess they really mean maps aka navigational. I was worrying I would have to go buying a new island for the game or something. It wouldn't hurt to actually give details.

I am trying to make use of these but I have no idea how they are used with the editor. I have tried linking a person to it to alter ammo counts, I have tried hooking it up to a trigger for bluefor and having a person walk inside of it and nothing happens. What exactly do you do with this? Also, aside from object modifiers what other cool modules do you use and whats the readers digest version of how to use them? Thanks

I hope and pray for the ability to cook off grenades. This is a military sandbox, not counter-strike. I would love to be able to cook a grenade (pull the pin and delay throwing it so the enemy has no time to see and avoid because it will explode sooner) because it is realistic and elementary.

This game is more of a military simulator or (sandbox) as the developers call it. When I throw a grenade, I would like to be able to cook it off so that I can precisely know it will hit and explode without giving the enemy time to become aware of the grenade and run away. Either this is missing in the alpha or this has not yet been proposed/planned for the game at all. I think you should be able to just hold the mouse button down to cook the grenade off before you let it go.

I have an HD5770 and there are times where the game lags for me, especially if there has been a lot of explosions or if too many people are in an area. My system is pretty decent I should not have graphical lag like this. Its really bad sometimes to the point where I could not hope to hit a target before being killed by 200 bullets first. -
I have an AMD HD5770 and mine "sometimes" crashes at startup before the splash screen even says its loading.

Actually i clarified my issue, and it appears to be simple resolution only. If i put it to 1440 900 it is absolutly crap, but at one lower its fine. ?! -

I have the 1GB xxx 4890 and if i put the video memory setting on maximum i think its called "very high" the game looks like trash, trees like like paper mache, bicycle wheeles look like solid black squares etc, absolutely awful. -

amd, intel? this thread is about how this game does not like ATI cards. I myself am on a completely new system with an AMD phenom II X4 945 8GB corsair gamers DDR3 memory and an ATI HD4890 xxx. If i install the game and turn everything way up, it goes to absolute crap on windows 7 ultimate x64. Now on XP 64 it was more tolerable but still i had issues with objects looking smooth for a while before they got their true texture back. Its funny i dont have any of these issues on anything else. -
Im confused, i have looked in the manuel and read people talk about it on sites but i have yet to ever be able to drag or carry anyone. I made a mission with some AI in my command, i wounded them and tried to drag or carry them. I simply dont see any way this can be done. Can someone enlighten me on something im missing or something?

Thanks, but why i asked is because i play Evolution, and could not figure out how to drag people which is why i tried to do it in a mission i created just for offline experience of getting it working. If you have to code it in there theres nothing i can do about playing online. I figured it was just part of everything since it is mentioned in the manual. I never thought for a moment that it would not be available.

Im having trouble. I am in a server which says their rules are NO AI.. or you will be kicked and banned. Well, how does one find the range between myself and the target? If im there with an M107 sniper rifle, how am i supposed to hit ANYTHING with it unless i know distance so i can calculate and aim perfectly? That rifle is calibrated to 500M, and if target is closer or further away, you must adjust your sight and aim with the other notches since each one is 100M, and you aim down for closer than 500M and up for further than 500M, So... What is the proper way to calculate distance so that someone can use that weapon properly?

Yea, i dont like the philosophy of "give away your position, and keep giving it away, and hope you get it right before the enemy kills you". Its not really professional. I dont like taking a shot, if i have no clue if it will hit, or im not 75% sure i will get a hit. I like to live, and hit my targets.

Working GTLD II Rangefinder

I have installed this range finder, and the events thing, and it seems to work, apart from when i try to actually use it. I hit the range button, and my whole pc freezes for about 20 seconds, and then its fine, but theres no distance listed. Every time i use it something flickers, and then theres no figures. I dont see any form of range or distance or anything thats going to help me aim a M107. What am i doing wrong? Its all installed, seems to be working, yet theres no range. -
Im in desperate need of a new graphics card due to visual lag, and was wondering how this one would perform 256MB XFX 7950GT, PCI-E(x16), Mem 1460MHz, GPU 570MHz, 24 Pipes, 2 x Dual Link DVI-I/HDTV Would this allow me to run with settings on very high and long distance? Im running XP x32 and x64, Athlon X2 4400+ 2GB ram Thanks

People seem to have developed some aweful hacks for this game. They can spawn AI that shoots everyone, they can spawn vehicals that explode with gargantuant power, then cen have the most powerful gatling guns shooting from their chest. I was in a server the other day, and 2 people came in and made the server into a circus of team killing, explosions, and mayhem. Any chance that this can be fixed???
