  1. 4770k will only be worth it if you're a hardcore gamer that plays a lot of bf4 or other games with good multi threaded support, or if you do work that actually needs the logical cores, else the i5 is plenty, even for streaming etc the same could be said about the 780ti i suppose, radeon 290 and gtx770 are good enough unless you actually want ultra settings in 1440p etc ssd wise i'd stick to crucial m series and samsung, both are great
  2. that's a good pc in general, will run arma fine, specially if you oc the cpu
  3. if you get 30 fps with that pc in arma 3 you're doing something wrong

    OS for ArmA III?

win 8.1 is generally slightly faster due to some optimizations over 7, either will work fine
  5. pr0ph3tswe

what fps do you have in sp?

62 fps average in that arma benchmark mission on altis, 1440p, max everything but object and terrain quality which are on high, 3k/1700/100 view distances, 2x MSAA, ultra fxaa, ultra anisotropic filtering, 20 bloom, blurry stuff off, ssao high
  6. nah, you're probably better off upgrading cpu at this point, gpu heavy settings can always be tweaked a lot i'm guessing you talk multiplayer? because some servers does limit view distance serverside for example which might explain it, end of the day im happy if i get 45+ fps in arma which imo is fairly fluid (until you play it with 60+ fps :/ )
  7. well played sir, well played. then again my arma runs smooth without stutter at 45-70+ fps multiplayer, so you enjoy dem benchmark scores ;D seriously though look into stuff like anti virus exceptions, eset had some problems with arma earlier for example, would be nice to know what system you play on too :D i got 3145 points in extreme hd btw, might want to see if it runs better without sli/xfire as well, longshot though i suppose and to the dude in the other post, with my old 8350@ 4.8ghz i could play multiplayer fairly well with low object and terrain detail, 1k/800/100 view distances, would say it ran around 35fps average in beta multiplayer stratis, tweaks might have been done though not sure :D doubt you'll see any 50 fps multiplayer numbers from that cpu though :/ singelplayer should run way better though so might be some software problems, updated drivers etc? also if that's a singel 660 it will be too slow for that resolution + aa and very high texture settings most likely

what fps do you have in sp?

    there is always http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?151794-ArmA3Mark-Benchmark-your-ArmA-3
  9. stutter, not shutter, also that means your pc is too slow, sorry to say :D
  10. yeah in bios, you should google some OC guides, there are plenty out there :) noone can tell you how much to oc, it all depends on your cooling, if you got lucky on cpu/mobo etc as all hardware is different, but the i5/i7's usually reach 4.5ghz with good aftermarket air coolers at least
  11. not sure why my sig didn't show then, but specs: 4770k @ 4.5ghz 16gb 2133mhz ram msi z87-g45 gaming gigabyte 780ti @ 1050/1800 qnix 2710 1440p
  12. i play with 3k/1.5k/100 view distance 40-80 fps on sa-matra altis wasteland, which is perfectly fine in arma
  13. i will recommend 1 card as well, there's always going to be drawbacks with crossfire/sli, heat, noise, random annoying bugs, low utilization in games etc etc 780/ti works really well :) but so will a cheaper card like the 770 or a aftermarket cooled radeon 290 :D
  14. radeon 280x alsop note that radeon 7970 and 280x is the same card, so grab whatever is cheaper
  15. that system is not enough for stable 60 fps in multiplayer, not with those settings, singelplayer maybe, but probably not, look into overclocking the cpu also try adaptive v-sync instead
  16. i can confirm that i have the same flickering with 780ti + 332.21
  17. there's also the ez-button oc most motherboard have nowdays
  18. i wouldn't bother with xeons, no overclocking (which will add a lot for arma) and i5 4670k is cheaper over here

What CPU should I upgrade to?

    i5 4670k + any z87 motherboard
  20. pr0ph3tswe

What rigs are the devs running?

yes, you're right, 4670k is plenty for arma, overclocking does help a lot for fps as well, specially as most i5 and i7's easily hit 4.5ghz with decent cooling also you might gain fps by going with the i7 in games like bf4 or newer games that are multithreaded
  21. pr0ph3tswe

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

i don't think it was designed to run with intel cpus, amd just went with another solution which means more cores and less performance per core compared to intel

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

i5 4670k + a mobo for it should be good :) look into overclocking it, specially for arma/dayz, it will help a lot

What rigs are the devs running?

i'm running a i7 4770k @ 4.5ghz, gtx 780ti @ 1050/3500, 16gb ram and os/game on ssd's. game settings are object and terrain quality on high, 2x MSAA, everything else on ultra, 3000/1500/100 view distances, 1440p. playing sa-matra altis wasteland i get 45-75~ fps on a full server, with average being around 50 i would say
