    A3 DX Steam CTD

kovacs, I'm going to assume you're set up like 99% of average users.. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ From there, go to ArmA3 then look for directx or similar. In there is an executable that will update your directx. I just did mine, so thank you Carzilla. It's been a long time since the redist decided I was over-due for an update.

    Arma 3 Lag Fix (Maybe?)

So you're saying this is all placebo driven then... Revolutionary! I even dare say a dangerous notion to share. I hope you're prepared for the pitchfork wielding masses.
  3. I am astonished at the trivial garbage that's getting attention on this forum rather than meaningful elements that make this a great game.
  4. By the way, please see this thread. It's getting no love. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?148393-Universal-FOV-Redundant-Controls-Customisability
  5. To be on topic, as it has been said before they wanted us to focus on infantry. So that's what they gave us.
  6. I agree.. one of my few gripes about the game. Needs more modular configuration options. Everything should be an option except vegetation rendering distance.

    Squad AI

I used to only mess around on singleplayer due to player warping but you miss so many immersive and awe inspiring moments that it's not worth it. The AI are probably set to engage at will, and their new aggression is pretty welcome.
  8. I'm using it for ArmA2, I should've clarified. I hope you don't feel I am attacking your hard work. It is very much appreciated and far and above what I could achieve. It is still extremely useful in all its quirkiness. To undertake such a project for free shows a commitment to the community that few understand and many take for granted.
  9. To launch mods into singleplayer I have to use my browser? I'll just edit my shortcuts. The download progress is halted by the way. I have to select the mod in question again and re-initiate the update. The program is just.. bizarre. I don't know why it can't just look and function like any old app made for windows. It's baffling. It is a good method for updating mods, that is all it is to me right now. I hope to be constructive in my critique.
  10. Start downloading a mod, then click any other mod. Problem persists. And how/can I use this mod to launch mods? Seems to only be for joining multiplayer servers. Is this intended? I'd like to be able to select mods, then launch to the main menu of ArmA. Thanks for being active and interacting with your users!
  11. Definitely bad UI. I have figured it out but only through trial and error. I can't quite put it in words how I would've done it differently. One issue I have: Seems to interrupt a download if I click on anything. If I start a download I often resort to minimizing withSIX to do something else, as browsing around the program stops any downloads.
  12. Yes, still terrible but far from finished. I hope I didn't give anyone impression I was posting this as anything other than a topic for discussion. Hopefully with the devs involved. I use the Feedback tool. Thank you.

    SDV and diving

So we are going to get submersible vehicles. I can't wait to see what the BIS let-alone the community comes up with.
  14. This is something I argued with about the Red Orchestra developers from when it was still a mod. Humans have an almost 180-degree forward-facing horizontal field of view. You can only simulate this by allowing zoom and unzoom features in a video game. Notice they added it in RO2 because they realized that seeing a man on the battlefield at full 90FOV on a 21inch screen was unrealistically harder than it ought to be in REAL LIFE - the thing they were trying so hard to simulate! 3rd person is another way of compensating for limited FOV caused by the restraints of modern viewing technology - your monitor. Add a TrackIR and you're just as well off as us poor guys who enjoy 3rd person.

    Did BI push an update?

Steam is a way to make and keep in touch with friends over games. It's also the most established and ethical virtual game store out there. It is often seen/chosen as a form of DRM (digital rights management) but it's easily circumvented, unfortunately. More on DRM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
  16. I don't know how this is possible. It's better in every way. I hope you guys at Bohemia keep this fluid animation and streamlined mentality all the way to release. I'm loving it. Personally, this is what I thought the jump from OFP to ArmA was going to be, but it was worth the wait. The removal of COMPLETE AND UTTER desaturation at night looks so good. I loaded up Chernarus and it's beautiful at night. Colors! Currently running into a lot of haters on the steam forums due to this being a top seller right now. Battlefield kids hopped on thinking it was the next big thing (it is) but it doesn't tickle their fancy one bit, so they kill at spawn. The apparent into to implement native 360 controller support is actually a good sign for once. I mosied about as an infantry man, flew helecopters and other such things for a good hour. I hope to see this on consoles just because it means more money in your pockets - you deserve it. And as a bonus, I get to play the game on my TV with mods on my pc. All praise so far from me, amazing for an alpha and I approve of the Minecraft approach - sell alpha for cheap, give early adopters the full product upon release.
  17. Seriously. Steam doesn't cram anything down your throat. You can OPT OUT OF ANY UPDATES WHATSOEVER. I do this with Skyrim because SKSE updates sometimes days behind patch releases rendering the game useless until they update. DROP IT.
