That's not true at all. Every landmass ever released for the RV engine has each building hand placed by its creator.

Particle alpha - negative values no longer glow.
Gorbachev replied to dmarkwick's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I haven't de-pbo'd a file since OPF days or I'd look but are they saving DXT3 or 5 with full Alpha channel rather than 1 bit? The color of the alpha channel could dictate shininess/glow like it does in other games. Skyrim comes to mind. Take a look at other alpha channels from the ... Alpha. -
Weird Lighting/Shadow bug that was present in Arma 2 seems to have also appeared in 3

Yes, this is referred to as Z-Fighting ever since it became possible to render textures in a 3 dimensional space. Dolly? -
I really don't understand why Java is so great. Java apps run slow. Average PC users don't even know what Java is or why they don't have the latest version. It seems like another barrier for average joe to overcome just to join a multiplayer game.

I think we will be seeing procedurally generated worlds. Feed it a whole bunch of building models and let the engine use an algorithm to place them only as the player becomes near. Then save this data so it is the same every time the player visits. Or use Google's 3D maps data? It's all conjecture but I hope to live to see it :D

Helpful tips on what to include in an issue in the feedback tracker.

An interesting perspective which seems very appropriate lately..

http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/the-questionable-quality-of-web-2-0-and-its-community/ Read. Discuss. Discard? I feel like the influx of ADHD afflicted masses is killing a normally respectable community. I gather that some people are avoiding the ArmA 3 section just to avoid them. -

I'm confused about how you then go on to say you gained fps. -
Taking the scroll menu to the chopping block

I hope the devs at least pilfered through this thread. It seems like a nearly perfect 50/50 split between those who want change and do not want change or I'd start a feedback post. -
Movement still feels like Operation Flashpoint
Gorbachev replied to elaintahra's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I find it almost impossible to turn my head or whole body without my eyes locking onto a fixed point. It's not like trying to single out a single blade on the ceiling fan. It comes much more naturally and almost against my will. -

WithSIX is currently the best solution.. but it's not official thus I would wager more than half of people who purchased any ArmA game never even became aware that WithSIX exists in the first place! -
Piss off. I use a 360 controller because my screen is 42 inches. Warburg, you are best advised to not consider this individual in any way a face of the community. As for the issue at hand, I have a solution as follows. Main Menu > Options > Controls > Controller From here you will see a horizontal divider. Customizable Controllers which is empty and Controllers with Scheme which should display your 360 controller. Select this, disable it. You'll notice it has moved to up to Customizable. From here out you can go to editting the controls. Currently some things are not able to be bound but it works for the most part.

Agreed. This seems like something that should be in the game from the start. I don't recall having this issue in OPF but I could be wrong, it's been a while. I'm sure BI has a general time table when they want to release the game but I feel like so many things should be gutted and started over instead of compounding new code on top of old code to get things right.

Stuttering and bad performance with latest Dev Build Editions, Testing Thread

What's wrong with all those servers (80%) with a red cross?
Gorbachev replied to Cr4z33's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Using WithSIX to find servers with the dev build finds a lot more servers than the in-game browser does... but 90% of them are Wasteland servers. *Shudders* -

I'm assuming by resources he means man power? To be on topic, this feeling of actually controlling the player character rather than a floating camera with a gun rendered in front if it is what makes the series special.. -
Taking the scroll menu to the chopping block
Gorbachev replied to CiberX15's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This is a step in the right direction. Your spreadsheet makes very clear how this is obviously superior to what is currently in place in any of the ArmAs. -
Taking the scroll menu to the chopping block
Gorbachev replied to CiberX15's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes this is implemented but not properly. I will stress again my Take On Helicopters example. Have the crosshair define what can be interacted with instead of opening the door behind or beside you and wondering what the hell is wrong until you look over. Otherwise I agree, there are MANY redundancies in the game's controls that serve no purpose other than to waste key bindings and confuse the newbies. -
Question about running a modded server
Gorbachev replied to Frankdatank1218's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I suppose, if such a thing were implemented, you should be given the option to have a separate host designated for files so there is no stress on your server. -

I strongly feel they should remove the rifles collision from the player character to make navigating houses as easy as it would be in real life. Yeah you'll see lots of clipping, but what's worse? Needlessly difficult interior navigation or a mild compromise in the endless hunt of real life simulation. -
Taking the scroll menu to the chopping block
Gorbachev replied to CiberX15's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I'm back for the day. I still think we could at least reduce the usage of the menu drastically by making actions context sensitive based on where the player is looking. Look at door, that is the only interaction available. Look at other door right beside you, then that is the only interaction available. Leave the menu for things like placing satchels (ugh... if you must). Each 4 doors on a vehicle would only have one action. And only become available if the players crosshair is pointed at the door (JUST LIKE TAKE ON HELICOPTERS COCKPITS). Menu to the chopping block. -

There is no need to insult someone who participated from the beginning but managed to miss key points throughout. Imagination would more aptly be reading skills. Furthermore, I don't agree with everything Ciber says and don't stand to defend only nor wholly what he says. The only redeeming quality you've shown is managing 5 pages before mentioning Call of Duty rather than the expected 1.
