    Why are much more people playing Arma 2?

    LOL! Take "wasteland" and "life thingy" out of the Arma 3 server list and how may people are playing other types of games? :butbut: I'll tell you : not many at all.......... like no more than 150 players total at any one time playing non life/wasteland multiplayer missions on arma 3. I've recently went back to playing Arma 2 and although the game is significantly more buggy and glitchy and less smooth, I still find I'm getting better games and having more fun times in Arma 2. I do love Arma 3 but the gameplay, maps and assets are just not there yet.

    Looks interesting, I was just back on Arma 2 playing some takistan life revolution , I forgot how much fun that game and map was. Was just thinking: "Man this would be so great ported over to Arma 3" seems like you guys are doing just that plus more. Will check !!!:bounce3: Edit: Wait: This is not on Takistan map? awwee . Will still stop by and check.

    Yes once there is more content in Arma 3 it will truly be an epic game. It's great now , it just lacks some PVP mulitplayer matches and content (in comparison to arma2)

    My 2 cents: Have Arma 2 and 3 and have recently been playing Arma 3 Exclusively for a about 3 months. Out of curiosity I checked the Arma 2 servers to witness the slow demise of Arma 2 multiplayer base as they migrate to Arma 3. To my surprise there seems to be actually more mulitplayers playing Arma 2 than 3!! ??? Takistan life Revolution 99/100 players. I jump on , good times to be had by all :) Arma 2 feels really clunky and glitchy compared to Arma 3, the movement feels like trying move around underwater. Arma 3 the graphics, the movement the overall feel is much much nicer, but as others have stated, it's the content, it just doesn't feel as good. I respect how much effort they put into making altis, it is amazing in scope and execution, but after an hour or two I just don't feel like playing that map sorry, it does not feel like combat. And I feel bad saying that because it's obvious how much time went into it.

    A quick search on google for PwS comes up with a weapons manufacturer and some info on Prader-Willi Syndrome. And this is my point exactly, a quick method of Mod loading should not have to be whispered in the ear on some back thread on a forum: All mods should be easily accessible in game. If the game devs don't feel like making content but leave it to the player base (make arma not war contest etc) thats fine and in all honesty probably makes for better games, but I have a feeling most of that effort from the mod developers goes to waste as not many people know about the mods. T

    Thanks aLmAnZo & SissiSaatana , I will try to get on during those times. My question is this and it's not meant to be a slight to BI: Why isn't TacBF part of the normal build by now? Or at least easy to load and play? I understand it is a mod and needs to be loaded but why does the average "filthy casual" have to go though the tedious steps of downloading the mod from armaholic, installing, then activating and restarting for every different mod they want to play? This is 2014 we have the technology, why is mod loading not implemented at the "ingame" level by now? ie: The game picks and chooses which mods to load depending on the pre-requisites of the map/mission being played. (I'm fairly sure this was happening with old shooter games in the past, if memory serves) Mods make the game great why not make it easier for players to try them out? T

    I agree its a great mod, but have you been playing this lately?? If so I would be interested in know when and how because I haven't seen a populated (more than 0 players) TacBF server in a good while. And that makes me sad.

    • Opening Doors, climbing ladders, entering vehicles is too much effort: scrolling or looking for that "sweet spot" for activation. Makes the game feel clunky. • Soundscape feels flat, I know there are some awesome addons recently released but stock sounds (especially weapons) are quite poor and immersion breaking. • Reload sound seems come from nowhere and is far too loud for the distance. • Multiplayer menu is still underdeveloped and not very responsive / consistent. • Glitching near walls and getting stuck inside rocks. • Multiplayer framerate and server performance. Just overall polish of the game, still feels like beta. But overall it's a great game. T

    Multiplayer not in playable state

    I'm going to chime in with my experience. Overall the FPS seems to be fine in general operations but it really really drops a substantial amount whenever some serious fighting action occurs. (usually while looking down the scope at an enemy). It's frustrating because this is exact time when you really need stable fps. Seems like a cpu bottle neck but a 4 core intel at 4.5ghz, is this still not enough? Is it ballistic calculations that are slowing everything down? It doesn't seem like it would be a graphical issue unless the graphics cards are handling the immediate action. My specs below: 3770K @ 4.5 dual 6870 (crossfire) 16gig 7-7-7-21 ram @ 1333

Hey Ringo82 and Gamelord1194: If you search the servers for "Revolution" you will see a type of altis life that has 4 teams / factions: 1:Blufor-cops 2:Opfor-Army 3:Indy-Revolutionists and 4:Civs- Civillian I'm pretty they will be able to point you in the right direction. I'm really loving the multiple factions style of "life", it's a lot of more purposeful action with a lot less butthurt :)
  12. I don't agree with the above. I just played an Altis life revolution (newer version with multiple factions) and there was a fair bit of team play going on with strategy and objectives. This does favor the casual gamer though, and the objective might be to rob a bank or something but it suits me just fine for a hour or two of fun. The reason why I like the "Revolution " Version of Altis life is because there seems to be twice the amount of action with a fifth the amount of butthurt. For regular life you have say 50 civs and 10 cops and all it amount too is a bunch of RDM, but hurt, admin abuse, and ban threats and day bans. And why wouldn't it be? Everyone has weapons. At least with Revolution you are allowed to shoot most people so it favors the play style of arma . I also really like the TacBF style missions but they are hardly ever populated arg!!!

Knowing not only that this truly amazing idea need to be realized but also that it could be the next big thing and make you infinitely wealthy :) hehehe seriously though I understand when life gets in the way, I'm really excited about Nova Zona though.   17. More good times to be had last night with some epic battles. I'm shaking the "TacBF" pom poms in the face of anyone who will listen. I can't understand playing wasteland over this, TacBF just so much better in every way. one thing though: it seem like in the evening, there are plenty of players from US and Canada but people are still using the German based server? Then it just gets vacated at about 10pm pacific time. I wish we could start up on the US server (offgaming) and keep the good times rolling. T

    Can I ask how did you do the 8000 x 8000 screen capture? I tried with conventional screen captures and scrolling around but things are jamming up trying to stitch large areas.

    I'm truly glad to hear you are back on the case, it's hard to play Arma now knowing what it could look like with your amazing texturing to mid range landscape. I agree Tactical Battlefield has breathed new life into the game. I will try to get you some textures but I have a feeling there must be a way to batch processes them from bing maps. (say define a starting point and then grab a few square kilometers and auto patch them together.)
  20. Ahh that makes sense about the mission pack downloading, I bet thats what it was, maybe it didn't crash it was just the mission downloading and it looked like it was stuck on the final screen before entering the game. Hehe yeah I was playing for opfor, epic good times! Love the immersion.
  21. Played about 2 hours yesterday, This is the most intense fun I've had on ARMA 3 since alpha release, (and I've put in many hours). Hats off to an excellent mission/mod. If you are reading this post and in a state of slight boredom and hopelessness with the current state of Arma 3 multiplayer: >> Tactical Battlefield is the Salvation. It's how I always thought ARMA was supposed to be played. Side note: As someone mentioned earlier: would love to see some mid range texture additions if possible. Also had troubles with final loading hang ups / crash between rounds. T

    I totally agree with every word you just said. MP is a bit of a mess in it's current state and newcomers will be discouraged. Quick Team vs team battles on limited parts of the map are needed. Sorry but the king of the hill games get boring quick.
