    Poll about Arma 3 and your opinion!

    They should really fix the engine up / Make a complete new one for Arma 4: This is my vote but I don't think they will be able to make a completely new engine, it must be just too much work. A fully re-optimized engine would be great though, there are serious map related / multiplayer issues with the Arma 3 engine. That being said: Arma 3 is definitely an improvement on Arma 2 so I would be happy to see what Arma 4 brings.

    It looks interesting but some of the animations look very silly. Maybe just temp placeholders? There was supposed to be a Project reality 2 project that was using the cry engine but I'm not sure if they are still doing that no mention in the last year or so.

Play Altis in Kavala: Note frame rate Play Stratis in open field: Note frame rate Play Breaking point Thirsk map: Note frame rate Before typing that I'm wrong: Please report back with the above findings. No one wants to believe it's so simple? Release a smaller map with less buildings. All performance grievances solved. You are all welcome. T

  5. Capture the Island my friend,,,,capture the island. It's basically somewhat like king of the hill only there are multiple objectives that can only be taken in a certain order to gain dominance over an area.

    Oculus Rift VR headset

    Can anyone report in on the general feel of Arma 3 with the Dev2 kit? I would love to know how enemy spotting is for infantry, are far objects just too small or unresolved? (does the zoom feel strange?) Excited for Arma in VR! :D
  7. I say this with the caveat that: Arma 3 is my favorite game and I love it. The main problem I think is that the developers have been so engrained in Arma culture and it's functionality that they probably see no reason to polish the functionality. They just play coop or they only play on a certain server so filter by name. Same with mod implementation, they are pros so they know all about armaholic and how to install mods and which servers allow them ect. Someone needs to take a full step back and look over the shoulder of a noob player just loading up arma 3 for the first time. Most likely that new user will not even know about power of mods or which game modes really make arma 3 shine. They will just filter by player size and see life/wasteland and maybe king of the hill, and the cycle continues. I have nothing against those game modes but I feel that people are missing out on mods and other game styles because they don't have much exposure or easy way to find/filter.

Honestly this was my sentiment exactly,,, back in alpha,, there was a link to a feedback tracker where they said they were working on it and it was only alpha, that feedback tracker was 2013 I believe .. You can't really just shrug / shirk the responsibility to PWS, PWS has great features and functionality but the User interface is just too much of a burden to use logically.
  9. Players could find game modes like TacBF a lot easier if there were "opt out" checkboxes for RPG or Coop style servers. There are just so many pluses to improving the multiplayer filtration system. Another benefit would be to see which servers allow a certain mod. (just downloaded Laxemann's "Enhanced Soundscape mod and I want to see which servers will let me play with it on their servers.). Which ones allow midtex? Jsrs? which are in first person only? The people need to know. It will be awesome when they finally do it….. They are going to do it right? T

    UKGZ A3Wasteland Takistan Server

    I wish you the best of luck on this server, I'll be be popping by . This mod was loads of good fun on Arma 2. It would be great to see a re textured takistan but I'm sure that would be a lot of work and time.

    are all the TvT campaigns dead?

    I know TacBf organizes some weekend battles. Also EUTW Is playing daily although on European times and at peak hours usually they have at least one server full 60 players playing Capture the Island. Oh man a 50 vs 50 campaign battle. To me that is what this game is meant for , I just don't understand all the players playing solo on wasteland and life. I mean it's ok but it gets boring. Then I guess there are those that desire to play large battles against comp and complaining about AI intelligence. Again i'm just shaking my head. I'm not saying, I'm just saying, why not play large scale against some real intelligence. I can't remember the last time an AI actually killed me. Not to get into Kill to death ratios but I'm sure the average player is at about 20:1 Kills to death on Ai. So it's just comp-stomp-super-easy-relax-dude and get some kills. For real players KD ratio ,, oh man I'm prob at 0.75 or less but it's more fun :) Large human battles !!!! we need it more of it :D

    The Main menu is not bad, as other have mentioned: the server browser needs help in a big way. your mock ups look good though!

    Arma 3 FTW : Better overall feel and functionality. Feels more fluid.
  16. Think on the bright side though: If so many people are playing the life stuff it will slowly bring over more mature players to Arma fold. Some, if not a small percentage of players are sure to cross over to the combat side. Right now there are like 500 players playing the asylum servers, I'm thinking some will play combat at some point. So if the filtering does get implemented and you never see the life activities then BI will just get more sales and consequent funding for further development. P.S. I was introduced to Arma 2 by way of Dayz Mod,(former Battlefield 1942,2,3 player) and I presently consider myself a relatively hardcore ARMA player by way of seeking simulation and realistic combat scenarios. I play some life from time to time. T

Stay tuned ;) " we are tuned,, we are tuned... :cool: and about dude commenting strangely, ( not sure if supposed to be funny ) about my comment on " It's just code" , I should have elaborated, it's just very simple coding to read the server info and parse in the Multiplayer UI. The whole filtering and selecting is relativley simple coding. I would budget one person about 4 hours of coding and about 4 hours of testing and fine tuning. T
  19. Please fix the server browser, it has been terrible since the alpha. Just make it better please (more filtering: 1pp, exclude, using which mods, history , favorites, ect ect ect ect.) . It's not like it's a hot button controversial request, does anyone not want a better multiplayer menue? it's just code.
  20. Legit question: Its is possible to chop the current altis map into say 5 parts? For myself and some others: Stratis runs much better and I believe it's due to the smaller size and amount of objects loaded. When playing say CTI or some other mode and you are only really using a portion of the map, would it not be better to load only the relevant segment of the map? Just asking because I don't know if it would be possible to do. T

I'm not sure but I remember playing either rainbow 6 "rouge spear" back in the day or maybey it was BF2 but I 'm fairly sure one of those games had that feature where it just auto loaded mods when needed. I know there is Play with Six which does a decent job of mod management (with some initial effort to discover to how the interface actually works) but IMHO players should not have download 3rd party software just to manage mods. Still though PWS is good. I used to think the same thing but only 2 things turned that right around for me: 1) a good sound mod. (SoS or JSRS) you wouldn't think so but this makes the weapons sound normal and current 2) 1rst person , not trying to start a debate, but it just feels more immersive and real to me. Try those 2 and it doesn't feel very futuristic at all, still normal ballistics and relatively normal machinery. T
  22. This does look strange when viewing a soldier at say 500m, they stand out like a sore thumb when in reality it should be harder to see someone so far away. There was a midtex mod that seemed to address the textures a bit, but good luck finding a populated server that allows it to be active... again about the mod integration.
  23. 4) Missing features: For me it's lack of Mod implementation and the whole Multiplayer server menu . It should be much more easy for players with less experience to load and use mods.(they should load or unload automatically depending on the server specifications). Enter Server: "you need this mod "…" to play in this game mode.. download now Yes/no." All mods get downloaded to one central folder on HDD, to be activated or deactivated depending on the server specs. Am I crazy or is this not very hard at all to do?
  24. Yep this sums it up above, and I find myself playing Wasteland also or even king of the hill just because there is literally no other PvP to play: they get boring and casual very fast. Meatgrind rinse and repeat. TacBF is really great and when it launched I thought it would be the savior of Arma 3 PvP but people prefer to play altis life what can you do? Another great one is EUTW CTI (capture the Island) but unfortunately for those of us in the Americas, they are only populated on European times. When the CTI US server started I thought "Oh finally people will see the light of amazing Arma 3 gameplay!!"... nope altis life / wasteland for all :) , you can lead a horse to water.... (EUTW has money but it's not really a big thing you can basically gear up how you like, it's worth it for the milsim aspects and 50+ populated servers, plus sound mods enabled) T
