  1. Great stuff! The distant explosions and vehicles sounds are especially amazing. It seems that sonic cracks are REALLY loud, and they aren't heard from far away. From the combat footage I've watched it seems that even bullets passing 10+meters away are still audible as little "snaps" such as this video

I really enjoy your work so far though; can't wait for a new release :)

  2. I installed the A3tools to try out map-making, and got the P: drive and futuratop.bat working. However, when trying to launch buldozer it ends up throwing this error http://puu.sh/h4lYH/288ee71deb.jpg and then crashes with this http://puu.sh/h4m6J/8ba06e5ece.png .

Terrain builder also crashes on startup with the generic windows "terrain builder has stopped working" error. All other tools seem to launch.

I've tried re-installing/validating/dev branch and get the same issues regardless. I could use some help here

  3. My conditions for this to be acceptable would be as follows.

    A) The current copy paste vehicle weapons would have to go, finish the content already in before asking us to pay for more.

    B) The mods would be offered in LITE versions as well, similar to DLC.

    C) Paid Mods aren't offered in small/frequent packs, keep them full DLC sized and not one every month.

    D) No huge quality discrepancies.

  4. I've been thinking that since the community has such great modelers and texturers, and BI has a lack of them (as evidenced by this thread), why can't Bohemia possibly outsource some work to the community? We could have more statics, vehicles (or maybe even interiors! :D), and all sorts of wonderful things. There are tons of mods adding different factions/new vehicles, so why not put up some standards and let them be submitted to be put inside of the game?

  5. First of all, I'd like to say it is my favorite island so far just because of the variety all around it :D

One of my few criticisms would be that a few larger buildings like the hospital don't have enterable second and third floors. I understand you can't model every single room, but I would like to see maybe a few hallways and a some rooms upstairs.

Another might be that some of the vacant buildings are completely empty, one would think there might be some garbage or furniture left behind.

  6. Tried on a machine with ArmA 3 installed on a HyperX 240 GB SSD, with a i7 3770k (has 4 virtual cores, 4 physical) 8GB Patriot Viper RAM, and an msi 560ti 1GB. I put every setting including viewdistance and AA on max, got 18-21 FPS average on Showcase: Helicopters. Then I did all of the launch commands and set my affinity to the last 4, and then 6 cores. Each time FPS was between 16-22 FPS. In other words, no improvement. You can't magically make a game that isn't optimized for multi core magically change its ways by setting affinity :P

  7. ArmA Multiplayer has always been an issue of "Some Assembly Required". There has been very little proper and dedicated attention given to the out of the box state of the game when it comes to online PVP MP. Thus.. there has never been a standard to base the ArmA experience on. It's always been up to the community to come up with the content and just make it work.

That is the biggest problem with ArmA IMO, more so than any bugs or missing features. It's incredibly difficult to just hop in and play a game, and get a somewhat fun and engaging experience. I wish they had a few missions out of the box that behaved like BF2PR's AAS or Insurgency modes. Those missions really encourage teamwork (most of the time) and provide a DECENT tactical experience (compared to public ArmA servers)

  8. I have to agree with OP, as many others have said the factions seem like clones of one another. Also BIS keep pulling that "quality over quantity" stuff when the content we are getting isn't really all that high quality. I'm not talking about models and textures here, I'm talking about the very poor simulation of vehicles. The weapon systems on all of the vehicles still use TAB lock crap, and rival factions from different hemispheres are using the exact same grenade launchers, 50 cals, and "DAGR" missles. Not to mention magical radar on the APCs, and the fact that all of the stealth helicopters don't have stealth properly represented.

This isn't a sim anymore, as they stated it is a "Military Sandbox". And that really shows, because they haven't improved the simulation aspect of it very much at all.

I forgot to complain about sniper rifles wind not affecting ballistics. :P /rant
