NATO SF and Russian Spetsnaz WEAPONS for A3
BadHabitz replied to massi's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
scope=1 also works for other things, like your pre-filled backpacks for your units. But I think that's less of an issue in relation to the accessoried weapons. -
NATO SF and Russian Spetsnaz WEAPONS for A3
BadHabitz replied to massi's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I don't think it needs to be an optional config. I think the portion of the community that uses VAS with your mod is much larger than the portion that pulls weapons out of boxes. Even if they use item boxes, they can still grab the weapons and accessories and combine them themselves. As you've stated, the only reason you have those accessoried weapons is because of your units. Scope=1 would allow you to have that same functionality with your units and be more multiplayer/VAS friendly at the same time. -
NATO SF and Russian Spetsnaz WEAPONS for A3
BadHabitz replied to massi's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
If you change each of those combinations to 'scope=1' they will be absent from Virtual Ammobox/Arsenal/etc, but still be used by your units. Keep the base weapons as 'scope=2'. I think it would please a lot of people. -
Once over dust, twice over rust.

Make sure that everyone is using the latest version of A3MP

That might work for attaching items, but it won't solve the issue of not loading magazines. For each weapon that didn't allow me to choose a magazine in the window, I loaded the proper magazine into my inventory using a similar weapon. When I tried to drag/drop in the inventory screen, the magazine slot was red. I would think there's a problem in the config with the magazines for these weapons, and that's why the magazine options are not available, and that's why they can't be loaded manually. When I use Virtual Arsenal Anywhere, I can load attachments, but the weapons I listed do not load with ammunition.

Tested. The ability for VAS to display and attach items in the lower left section, along with the ammo window, doesn't work for: HK417 20 inches camo (best rifle ever!) HK417 20 inches Minimi Para 7.62 HG Minimi Para HG Also unable to load ammo into these weapons I listed. I was able to load an optic I had in my inventory on the 'HK417 20 inches camo'. In the attachment window, none of the vanilla attachments show up as options for the R3F weapons. But awesome job overall. Can someone else confirm that my findings are correct?

Got it. Thanks. Can't really say what the problem is. Maybe my ISP doesn't like that Chinese website. I can only guess. I even tried IE instead of Chrome and it had the same problem.

Yes, that's the button I press and nothing happens. I suspect it's because the page never stops loading for me. I even turned off AdBlock for the page. Obviously it's working for you guys, but for some reason it's not working for me. It happens. Welcome to the internet.

I hate to ask, but can we get a better download link or a different host? This link never stops loading and the download button is ineffective.
-
Yes, it's been mentioned. It's because of how the allowed attachments are listed in the configuration, and how it doesn't work with the latest versions of VAS.
-
Any idea if this mod will be made to work with the latest versions of Virtual Ammobox? Currently, the way the allowed attachments are defined doesn't allow these outstanding weapons to take advantage of the features that VAS has to offer. Also, seeing this mod be able to work with Joint Rails would be amazing. These are my favorite weapons out there. I swear by the HK417 in this mod. It's just frustrating that the VAS issue and the lack of Joint Rails support keeps this mod from being more accepted by the wider community.

I had the same issue and never figured it out.

I severely doubt he recorded and edited that video right as the new update was published. I'm sure there's enough lag time involved to ascertain that his latest video was not recorded during patch 1.24

Why does arma not host its own servers like a mmo?
BadHabitz replied to Sillywabbit's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
PS2 is a very different game, and much simpler in most regards. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy PS2, but it is a simple shooter, where A3 is military sandbox. -
International MaxxPro - Deja Vu?
BadHabitz replied to Richards.D's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yes, the MaxxPro is open to be worked on. I've got a bunch of the assets myself on my HD, but a little short on time and talent to see it through. I'm looking forward to this getting done, and it will be a welcome addition. I might be greedy, but I'd recommend a serviceable version be released as soon as you can, and your enhanced version later when it's ready. -
Some servers and clans force the first person perspective in their missions.
-
In PvP I agree that limiting to 1st person is the right thing to do, out of fairness. But if it's co-op, and the objective is to have fun, then why does anyone care which view people are using? Use what works for you and just let everyone play the game in the way that makes them happy.

Abandoned naval CIC/ fleet command/harpoon style gametype
BadHabitz replied to sakura_chan's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Reminds me that while onboard a destroyer, my first ship, I spent time in the Mediterranean talking to a NATO E-3 AWACS. I think they might have been part of the NTDS system, but I can't remember for sure. It's been 14 years.Either way, even if things are not 100% accurate, it has massive potential as an information tool. -
Abandoned naval CIC/ fleet command/harpoon style gametype
BadHabitz replied to sakura_chan's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Track numbers are assigned automatically, but can be changed manually as needed. When they were changed they were assigned according to certain conventions. (Unknowns start with 'X' and friendlies start with 'Y' and hostiles with 'Z') The NTDS and the system that replaced it (symbology is still the same) is a tactical tool, and that information is real time, local, and shared between naval units. There are other systems that connect all of the services, share symbology, but are not real time, because of the rate that it takes data to move around between users all over the globe. In my experience we never dealt with units from other services, with the exception of the Marine F-18 squadron that was attached to the strike group airwing. Assets like B-1 and B-52 are more strategic than tactical, and those strategic assets were controlled from far above our tactical level. So I'm not sure if they could take feeds from the NTDS, but I don't see much need for them to do so in the first place. -
Spawn ammo box with VAS
BadHabitz replied to legio4777's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
You want it to be in a mission, or you want to spawn it in the middle of a mission? Not quite sure what you're thinking of. -

Your work with the display of NTDS data with the proper symbology and track numbers (all zeroes though) is simply awesome. It's the type of stuff that I dealt with during my 10 years in the Navy. That would make for an amazing command & control mod. I would think it's not possible, but I'd also say the same thing if I had not seen your screenshots. It would be awesome if you could create a datalink that would generate track numbers. It would be amazing if you could simulate a radar, which generated NTDS symbology upon contact, and then tab-locked a target to launch an anti-aircraft missile. So I would be completely engaged in this NTDS overlay, being able to select targets, read information, and then take action. It would be amazing to use that system to coordinate over the radio. It would be primarily for air warfare and surface (water) warfare. That scripting is way above me, but if you need any knowledge about how things might work in the real world you can always PM me. I loved playing Fleet Command, but I think the real use of that overlay would not be for the purposes of controlling units, but as a datalink that can be used by players. Not sure how possible that is. -
AddAction and Dedicated Server Issue
BadHabitz replied to noricum's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Wouldn't you need "_this addAction...." ? -
Love the mod! Based on ingame observation, it looks like the rvmats need adjusting, because when you shoot the aircraft you don't get the right sounds and you see the default dirt sprites coming from the vehicles. Add to rvmat in text editor: glass rvmat surfaceInfo="a3\data_f\penetration\glass.bisurf"; any metal body rvmat surfaceInfo="a3\data_f\penetration\metal_plate_thin.bisurf";
