  1. I have been experimenting with custom models. Not happy with it yet but I'm making progress. Slowly...

Just a suggestion, perhaps making an option for the main menu edits and music?

Could you elaborate on this? Not sure I'm following you.

Most textures are 4k ready and have been tested on 4K displays.

  3. That project they're working on looks pretty neat, I'd love to help them out if they need it.

Edit: Found their WIP thread and PM'd the man in charge. Thanks for mentioning them to me! :)

Hey @terminal_ for some reason I can't reply to your PM.

Please join us on our public discord channel and we can have a chat. I'd love to work with you and get this into ARMA. (Public channel so anybody else welcome also)

  4. Thank you BI for bringing my fav game to my fav platform (mac)

I'm very interested in BI's thinking around this port? Lets port it to mac/linux and see the community uptake... Without multiplayer and the other "selling" features (DLC, Mods, etc) do you think you will get a true reflection of the viability of this port on other platforms?

  5. ;2929156']What are those missing skills exactly? Configs?

This is the stuff I'm stuck with at the moment

    Damage

    * Glass (Not sure where to start.)

    * actual damage (My light helicopter can take two 120mm tank rounds and it keeps flying, but one shot from a rifle brings it down? :| )

    * rotor damage (Rotor takes damage from bullets but not from colliding with buildings, trees, etc...)

    Turrets

    * secondary turrets, can't seem to get this to work (commanders turret)

    * extra turrets (My Ratel has a main turret, commanders turret and then another manned turret on the back of the vehicle. Can't get this to work.)

3D Modelling of interiors. Not sure why but I have been able to get my 3D modelling skills to the point where exterior are almost easy, but i just can't get the interiors right.

Texturing. Again, I seem to do OK with the exteriors, but interiors suck.

Organic modelling. I still struggle with modelling organic shapes. people, animals, vest, equipment bags, etc... I have tried to do the weight painting for the soldier models, several times and just can't get it right in O2. I know what to do, but the knees just end up strange, etc...

So the hope is to get team members that I can learn from, maybe they can learn a couple of things from me...

  6. All very good and valid responses. Perhaps my idea of paying people to work on my mod is not that great. ;)

    Some advice then?

I have been able to learn 90% of the skills needed to make a complete mod. (Modelling, texturing, O2ing, scripting, etc) So now my mod has 20 (arbitrary number) peaces of equipment that is 90% done and not really usable yet. I am unable to finish them off because I lack the necessary skills to complete them. Trying to get skilled and passionate people has failed and numerous attempts to train unskilled passionate people (only to leave the project when...) has also failed.

Pay someone to teach me those missing skills? Pay someone to do a specific tutorial that I need? Do I then make that publicly available after I have payed for it? Other options?

    @ PetraCephas

You should be more specific what needs to be done. Both what type of work and what amount.

Even better would be to break it done to small tasks for each item.

Estimated effort per task and complexity would also help.

I use a Trello job board for my/our mod. Each card represents an item/vehicle/equipment that needs to be added to the mod. Once someone indicated that they are interested in working on an item, then first step is to add the detail to the job card. I worked in IT as a project manager so I'm familiar with splitting work up and defining sub tasks and goal setting. The Card then gets worked on by the modeller and as he work he check off the tasks on the card. Once done the card is allocated to a texturer and he continues with his checklist, and so on. Comments can be added to the card, testing criteria, notes, bugs, known issues etc. Hope this answers your question?

  8. anyhow, my take on the matter: for the scope of this, a one man team will not function. I would advise to create a mod team of dedicated individuals for it. There is really no reason to involve money, unless there is really no other way around it, but from my experience it isn't the case.

Completely agree PuFu. I have been trying for some time to build a team, with lots of empty promises and loads of training/teaching/mentoring from my side. With so many great mod projects out there I can understand why I'm having a hard time finding modders to work with me. My/Our mod is very niche but has a very strong and passionate support base. I would love for people to join me/us and am only using money as a last ditch effort to get modders to have a good look at what we/us have been doing. Heres to hoping others will fall in love with ARMSCor too. ;)

  9. I have been trying to get modders to help me on my mod with little success for more than a year now. My mod community has been very gracious and have made some donations to me. I'd like to give back by using the money to further the mod. Specific items will be voted on (crowd funded) and then outsourced...

So is anybody interested in helping with my mod while getting payed for their work? It seems like a win-win right?

    What do you guys think?

  10. Hi. I'm interested in helping the ADF UNCUT team with your mod. (Join the team?) You can have a look at my work at ARMSCor

I have a particular passion for helicopters and Armoured vehicles. Tiger, MRH-90, UH-60 and Bush Master. If this is an option, please contact me at ARMSCor.Mod(a)gmail.com.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  11. Well I'm really thrilled he made his own. I'm sure it will be very nice for him.

1 - I've responded to everyone that asked or demanded the source models the same way.

2 - I'm going to call bullshit on your quote. I've replied to every email re Armscor, NuAfrika and SAAF projects. The Armscor Gripen was well advanced before Dana even approached me.

3 - I've been largely unavailable recently due the death of my mother.

4 - With the attitude you display in your post I might just scrap mine.

Please dont post more crap like that in my thread. Go tell your fairy stories elsewhere.

    Hi Rock

So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you. Just to set the record strait. I tried contacting you on ARMAHolic messaging and then after chatting with some other people, found out that you where dealing with some personal matters. So I decided to not nag/bug you. My Gripen model is well advanced but has no cockpit and I would still be interested in working with you if the previous messages haven't put you off completely. Sorry for any misunderstandings and my part in it. No offence intended. I'm a big fan of your work.

    Best of luck.

    Regards

    Dana
