    Would be great if we actually got some feedback from BIS as to why they haven't incorporated any kind of weapon resting/bipod in the game and, especially, when they'll implement it (or if).

  3. drop the stealth..there's really no need for it, esp when the enemy AI isn't using radar and you're flying a black a/c in broad daylight (like the Ghosthawk). We just need something useful like a C17 or A400M or something.

    Totally agree. ARMA is one of those few games where you can actually apply proper combined ops (infantry, naval, air, etc) on a stable platform using not-so-dumbed-down weaponry/vehicles like in BF3.

    TBH I'm happy with what we have but in the knowledge that BIS are working on additional FREE content which they'll release later on. Thats fine and that basically states 'we haven't finished the game fully but here's what we have, which you can play NOW rather than in 12 months, and we'll release stuff as we finish it' - I'm cool with that because I'd rather have something 90% finished to play with than wait another 12 months for something 97% finished. 'bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'...not exactly but you know what I mean.
  6. I've noticed lots of little airfields dotted around the Altis landscape. I've realised first hand (playing) how difficult it is to move heavy vehicles (eg. MBTs, SP Arty, etc) over long distances using the stuff currently in ARMA3 (ie. non existant). Normally to transport MBTs, etc long distances, they would use ships, trains, semi trailers or large cargo transport a/c eg. C17s, C5s, etc which ARMA3 currently doesn't have. When playing online on a domination server, where the AO moves to all 4 corners of the map, using these large supporting weapons is practically useless unless the AO is close to the main spawn point (ie. the airfield). We DEFINITELY need a largo cargo a/c to transport either an APC, MBT or SP Arty quickly.

    I'm fine with that as long as: 1. they tell us what it is and when we'll get it; and 2. we don't have to pay for it. What I don't want is to pay $50 or $70 (the price of a full complete game) for something half finished and then have to pay for the DLC content that should have been in the original release in the first place. Atleast EA release a completed product - the DLC actually provides you ADDITIONAL content, not SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE ORIGINAL RELEASE content (sorry for the caps, but you get my drift). That would just be plain wrong, and I doube if BIS are going to do that (or hope). Time will tell.

    Mate, they're called REMFs and are back at base getting all the support stuff done. ARMA 3 models the 10% (or so) of the military that actually has to fight.
  9. One thing that players got spoilt on with ARMA 2 esp was the variety of weapons and weapon systems available. Whilst the islands and weapons are much more detailed now, we're short on variety which is why there's a big demand for it. I rarely play SP purely because I love the 'unknown' element of playing on MP servers plus the teamwork element. Having said that, most servers are set to vanilla only which is a real pain in the proverbial, and thats why we push for BIS to include it in the game so these 'mods' form part of the vanilla version...so I could use an M4 or M16 instead of some futuristic MX or AK74.

    The main thing is, have we seen evidence of defensive flares have ANY impact on AI launched AA missles? All my experience to date (and it happened again last night...yes we got a bit close but the pilot deployed LOTS of flares and that single missle still took us out) is that it doesn't have any impact however, that could just be my experience. If others are experiencing the same then there's an issue. If others aren't having an issue then its NOT necessarily a bug or something.
  12. boy that VBS2 looks good. The fact that it has current military hardware which is something we all recognise and understand, is a major plus.

    So what is the point of the flares then? AA missles aren't 100% accurate, and there's a reason the main countermeasure for heatseeking AA missles is the flare. If the use of flares was a waste of time (as has been mentioned above), then somebody better go tell the USAF/RAAF/RAF/etc etc to stop loading flares on their a/c because its not going to work against AA missles. Oh the horror.

    Just to put it into perspective: 1. I absolutely LOVE this game as it is. Yes its not perfect but its still leaps and bounds better than anything else there. However: 2. there are things that simply MUST be fixed eg. bipod/weapon resting, clunky menu system. I've already invested almost 100 hours in this game so far which is about to skyrocket. Others have invested WAYYYY more time than I have. If it was really crap, we wouldn't have invested as much time in it. I would rather have it released as it is now than wait 12 months for a polished release. Again not perfect but getting there. The good thing is that the devs support mods which is what will get this game to greatness.
  15. latest changelog: AI high-skilled soldiers accuracy improved NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :) AI are all currently super marksmen....does this make them super super marksmen?

    Alec...really? And for the record I was flying a transport chopper, not an attack chopper. I always drop off inf near the AO but not too close. Everybody knows to 'drop flares, break left' or they should.

    what would actually be great is if we got a dev or three to jump on these forums and actually respond to us, the customers. I see direct responses in the SITREPs that get published but thats one-way communication. BIGANT is a company that is developing Don Bradman Cricket 14 and their CEO (I think) regularly responds on the forums plus some of his devs about questions, etc. They don't just leave us to post frustration here without some sort of response from them. Yes I know, it can be a double-edged sword to respond to forum queries, esp frustrations, but you will always have rational and irrational posters....the main thing is communication. If there is a technical reason why the bipods/weapon resting was left out...then say it. If you couldn't be bothered to do it because you don't think its worthwhile, say it (but go run and hide! lol...j/k). Forum regulars will debate it ad nauseum but atleast it'll be based on fact/truth rather than conjecture. BIS...PR is very important in this digital world. Releasing something that isn't 100% finished because you need the $$$ to fund further development would go a long way if you actually stated it. Heck, why do you think there are so many player-funded games under development?

    Only once did I get shot down flying over the AO, which was at night with me dropping ALL my flares one after the other (hey, the guys on the ground said it looked pretty) after dropping infantry. I would have had 50 flares in the air I'm sure but the AA missle went straight for me. All other times, I was flying outside the AO but I was shot down from a missle fired from within the AO (domination mode so you know where the active AO is). Each time I dropped flares continuously once I saw I was targeted by AA...but to no avail. Its happened 4 times and I've been shot down 4 times. What does that say?
  19. is there a list of whats incoming tomorrow? From memory we're getting the MLRS, MBT, SP artillery, Buzzard...what else? Shame we're not getting any additional a/c :(

    ah yes, I keep forgetting to raise this..thankfully someone else has. I've been shot down about 4 times so far with AA missles AFTER dropping multiple loads of flares. I think the flares are just for show (they certainly look pretty at night) because they have zero effect on incoming missles.
  21. I've noticed this a bit and was proven right again last night. How accurate are the miniguns on the AH-9? I can tell you....not very. I set up multiple gun runs on a platoon of infantry fully expending my 5000 rounds. I walked my rounds THROUGH the platoon who were both standing and prone. Kills = 0. I don't get it. Sure I know its difficult with two converging miniguns however when you get the hang of it, you can place rounds exactly where you want, however its ridiculous that you can't hit anything with this...especially given I'm firing approx 4000 rounds/minute directly at a platoon of infantry with light body armour. I did NOT miss. Is there some variable that decreases the damage or increases the spread of rounds or something? Has anyone had better success than me? OR are we able to outfit the AH-9 with just rockets instead? those things are deadly against inf and light skinned vehicles.

    ARMA 3 - functional, yes....polished, no. Its about 85% there I reckon (and no I have no scientific proof to back up that %) :)

    yeah but not having bipods in an infantry focused 'almost-simulator' is pretty bad. MGs and sniper rifles (two important weapons for standard infantry combat) both rely on some form of weapon resting for accuracy. I've tried firing an MG standing up (both the Mag 51 and F89 Minimi) and I can tell you the vertical recoil on that thing was horrible and my rounds went all over the place (had a guy supporting my arms so I didn't accidentally spray across the range rather than down it! lol). I don't mind if modders IMPROVE on something...but not when they have to DEVELOP it to start with. Thats poor form. ARMA 3 is such an awesome game but there's still so many crappy aspects which a lot of us overlook for the greater good eg. lack of bipods/resting, horrible menu system, etc etc which should really have been fixed by the devs PRIOR to release.
