Iranian troops need to be heard!

yeah actually that would be great...and maybe a tail and a neon light that says 'I'm enemy'. So you telling me you've NEVER mistaken an enemy for friendly up close? I can understand if you're the kind to sit on a hill 300m away with your sniper rifle and have all the time in the world, but not in bushland or in towns with everyone running around.

    how to lock with choppers?

Yeah I finally got into an attack heli (the OPFOR one) as gunner and totally struggled with trying to lock anything. Even when I did (stationary IFRIT), the missles hit about 50m BESIDE it. Surely if this is supposed to be 'futuristic' they would've sorted out how to make missles hit something targeted.

Iranian troops need to be heard!

the main diff from afar is the camo pattern on their uniforms. try that at night with NVGs, or hell even in bushland or CQB. you have a second to make a decision, and these guys don't miss.

Iranian troops need to be heard!

Hows about we also change their uniforms slightly so that its easier to recognise them? So many times in the heat of battle, I've either fired on a friendly or not fired on an enemy (and died). Ridiculous.

Poll - Rather Modern or Futuristic?

Somehow my original post got deleted or something. Hmmm Anyway, I'm against the whole 'futuristic' scenario. The ARMA3 official site states: "EXPERIENCE TRUE COMBAT GAMEPLAY IN A MASSIVE MILITARY SANDBOX. AUTHENTIC, DIVERSE, OPEN - ARMA 3 SENDS YOU TO WAR." How can you experience true combat gameplay using 'authentic' weaponry but then have futuristic in there as well? I would have preferred they make it based on current weaponry like they have in A2 and using real world situations and scenarios so that we're all familiar with it. I personally can't remember what the helicopter names are. Call a blackhawk a blackhawk. Gimme back my M4.
  6. One thing they definitely need is an audible missle lock warning system or something....something to tell you that a missle has locked onto you so you are able to drop flares. At the moment theres nothing.
  7. This is ridiculous. Imagine playing on a domination server...spawn...go to crate...select weaponry....wait for chopper...wait for chopper....jump on chopper...(hopefully...and I do mean hopefully) make it to the AO...jump off chopper...run 2kms to edge of AO (highlighted red on the map)....spot enemy AI about 400-500m away....'nah, they can't hit me from here'...BOOM -DEAD. Rinse and repeat. Usually the first part takes me a good 10 minutes just to GET to the AO only to die from expert sniping. If I'm feeling up to it, I'll do it all again...otherwise = disconnect. Something has got to be done about this. I don't mind getting killed because I stupidly ran out in the open or came up against an enemy squad...but this is ridiculous.
  8. i5 3570k Gigabyte ATI 7950 3gig 8 gig ram Everything maxed out. System runs perfect except if I try to run through smoke from a smoke grenade (or multiple...thats worse!) but ONLY if I go into or very near to the smoke.
  9. I think the game is pretty good as is...obviously we need more content ie. Altis (for starters), new a/c, vehicles, etc etc. why delay it? I'm glad they're correcting the errors and stuff we find. I'd rather play ARMA3 as it is now than hold off for another year whilst they fix all the bugs, etc.

    Chopper Pilot PROS

I use an x52 + ch pro rudder pedals + track ir 4 but I find I still have to practice landings esp in small spaces ie hovering. Usually I use the editor to just fly the chopper around and landing every minute or so in the hills.

Action Menu - must do better

Have to agree with this one - the current menu is clunky and is a pain in the a$$ to use.
  12. I sincerely hope they also include Aussies as well as us army and usmc. Aussies obviously love playing as Aussies :)
  13. I'm so looking forward to this mod -ARMA 3 is the perfect platform to simulate Vietnam era missions and battles ie. consistent with how we're currently playing domination missions on mp servers. Heck, we could do a simple swap (ie inf as American/Aussie for bluefor, VC/NVA for opfor, hueys for choppers, and relevant weapons, etc) and the mission would be the same as domination! We just need more jungles, etc or a map that represents south Vietnam. Mmmm just thinking of the possibilities...A1 sky raiders, F4s, F100s for air support to complement hueys, Huey gunships and cobras....riverine boats, M60 tanks with M113 APC's....
  14. I'm obviously late to the discussion however having bipods is a MUST HAVE for the MG. Have any of the devs tried hitting something with the MG? its dang near impossible esp over distance. Whilst I know firsthand how difficult it is to hit anything over distance with an MG (my experience is with the F89 Minimi and Mag 58 LMG), I was still able to hit targets with atleast 1 out of 4 rounds over 300m using a scope and short bursts. In ARMA III, I can't hit crap. Thats why noone seems to use the MG online.

    ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

I haven't read the other 43 pages of this thread but I'd LOVE to see an ARMA III - Vietnam mod ie. - Bluefor - US Army / USMC / Aust Army / ARVN (err ok maybe not) - OPFOR - NVA / VC I think we all know what type of vehicles/weapons/etc would fit into this mod, however this DEFINITELY fits into the whole patrol out of a central base scenario that domination or most COOPs (insurgency) servers use. Obviously we'd need a map resembling Sth Vietnam complete with fire bases, main bases, etc. This would definitely HAVE to include the Aussies as a fighting force (infantry, armour, hueys, etc). I just watched Hamburger Hill again and the first thing I thought of was 'hey, this reminds me of MP missions in ARMA III!!'.

    Helicopter physics impressions - simplified

Hi guys Its beyond ridiculous. I've read that the FM from ToH is being ported to ARMA III but, IMHO its just as bad (I have ToH as well so I know). Have any of the devs tried the helicopter FM in say FSX or DCS or even BF3 (heaven forbid)??? you should be able to control your vertical movement not only just with your collective but also with your cyclic by trading airspeed for altitude. I tried this yesterday in the blackhawk (whatever this is called now) and nothing...ie. I dropped off a team at Kosmino coast and flew along the coast back towards the airport at about 20m altitude and 250kmph. I decided to try going over the hills so I put in full collective (more speed) and pulled back on the cyclic and.......nothing. I didn't gain a metre. All I did was bleed off airspeed. It seems that the only way to gain altitude is to go directly vertical from a standing position then forward (as if its an arcade type vehicle). Not only that...but try bleeding off airspeed in a heli. Oh thats right...you almost can't. Maybe I'm wrong I dunno but atleast try to get it resembling RL a little bit. Please please BI...do something with the FM. Helis are an important asset in ARMA. You can't make a 'realistic combat simulator' and yet have heli's using a dumbed down flight model. Helicopters are inherently difficult to fly...make it so ingame so that players have to actually upskill themselves to fly it.

    Helicopter physics impressions - simplified

The FM for choppers is horrible. Compare flying a chopper in ARMAIII with FSX or DCS, especially DCS (the Huey is a good example). When I drop the collective I expect the loss of lift to result in an almost instantaneous nose drop (taking into account the effect of autorotation) however the ARMAIII chopper just stays where it is. This definitely needs to be fixed.
