    Diamond Ironsights, Why?

maybe add a crate in the editor w/ all weapon attachments, or better yet a loadout editor for your profile(for use in custom, and MP) like the one Dslyecxi made for himself: This would allow the player to kit out as they see fit and use sights they choose(for the most part), seems like a problem solver for more than one issue to me.

    "Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...

I just really hope people avoid a "wait and see" approach, I've used the editor more than any of the actual games from OFP all the way to now w/ ARMA3, and those that spend days creating a single mission, or vs map for their clans/friends/whomever know exactly how frustrating placement "can" be, what struck me was when I went to create a hesco barrier perimeter for a custom FOB, in A2OA we had a nearly perfect and accurate representation top down image/icon of the hesco barrier, now we have a big box w/ a "?" mark, back to place, save, preview, edit, save, preview, rinse repeat. I mean maybe to you folks who could care less about the editor don't see this as an issue but that's because you dont care like us editors/creators do, when it comes to the ability to generate content for whomever we choose, in-turn keeping the game alive. How many of you think there would still be as many ppl playing A2 even as we speak without mods/maps/missions/etc? In talking w/ my clanmates who all are playing ALPHA we have come to the conclusion that there are far too many ppl defending the ALPHA as though it's the final build or as though it's not up for critique or suggestion. So we can either A: have a wait and see attitude B: get all angry at ppl who accuse our precious BIS of not paying attention to even the minor details that actually matter in the end, or C: Observe and report anything we deem as an issue to help ARMA3 not only have a successful ALPHA, but BETA and Final Build as well. I'll go with C.
  5. M14 EBR & MK200 are US manufactured and NATO forces weapon, idk if maybe there's little inspiration for what to give the Iranian's in ARMA3, just an observation to improve authenticity. ***Placeholders, I understand, but nonetheless incase they are not just placeholders, it's my observation, I am sorry if my observation offends you. As for the editor, though this is ALPHA(and believe me it aint my first, so I understand). Placement almost seems downgraded from A2/A2OA, even some item icons are now "?" which were actually nearly perfect representations in A2, Hesco Barrier "BIG" for starters has accurate representation in A2OA's editor, yet is now the dreaded "?" mark which is ZERO help at all, and was one of my biggest gripes about placement in the editor, all those freaking "?" marks, they make placement a nightmare for those creating maps/levels for clans/friends/anybody to play, and that user content is what keeps games fresh and keeps people coming back for more. The process of: Place, save, preview rinse repeat 100's of times needs to come to a delightful end. Suggestions- A: a 3D editor would completely bypass this issue. As I said in another thread regarding the cancellation of the much anticipated and appreciated ArmA III 3D Editor Feature, we're not asking for 3DS Max or Maya, or even Crytek's CE3.SDK(though that is an awesome and FREE editor), we just need something for accurate placement, period. B: Accurate top down placement(like snapping, idk maybe play some RTS' or city development games for inspirations), C: No more freaking "?" marks, they are ZERO help The 2D editor is great for triggers/waypoints/markers/etc, but in this day and age, we either need a much improved placement system in the existing 2d editor, or we need a 3D editor(which would even be ok for JUST placement, idk maybe a top down viewspace and a 3d viewspace to toggle between or have them side by side or one above the other). Again I know it's ALPHA, but I was kind of surprised at how it the new editor feels like a step backwards from what we've already used and seen with previous ARMA's.
  6. Are you using Nvidia? if so make sure transparency AA is off when using ATOC(kinda the same thing) in game. It's likely a setting in your graphics profile. I noticed better FPS when using trans AA supersample and disabling ATOC, unfortunately we can't disable ingame AA outright and use NVIDIA AA instead, we can only enhance, same goes for Anis.Filtering, for any that use Vsync, disable the ingame and use your gpu profile's vsync as well, it'll get you some FPS. BTW I run Crysis3 maxed out with rarely any dips in FPS, so I don't have junk before some d-bag comes in here and slams me for saying anything negative about an ALPHA...

    "Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...

IDK why every time something is said, even in my case where I just want the game to get as much feedback, and critique as possible to give the devs as many clues possible on how to improve ARMA3 to it's maximum potential. People who speak up get berated by the so-called communities in which they dwell. You've reminded of why I prefer to remain on the sidelines in these "communities".

    "Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...

lol, dude you know what I'm getting at, hehe, but in all seriousness the M14 and MK200 should be in the US weapons crate(s). I get all "passionate"(nice way of putting it) about alot of things, and it's my personality, and I get "irritable/angry" easily, part of the reason why I don't have many "variables" in my life.

    "Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...

Did I not say "I know it's ALPHA"??? I'm speaking up about it now, so we dont end up w/ "?" marks and tons of guesswork for placement like we STILL have to this day >>YEARS<< later with ARMA2. I'm sure someone said something about it with ARMA2, and I'm sure someone said, "dude, they're placeholders, they'll fix it", yeah they sure fixed it didn't they. Didn't they also say how much better optimization went into ARMA3, yet me have scores of reports about under-utilization of CPUs and GPUs, what does that issue remind you of? ARMA2!? So despite how many people reported these issues from A2, we're still having this issue with ARMA3 on monster rigs that plow through Crysis3 maxed out. What is an ALPHA without observation and reporting, not all of us bought in to the Alpha just to "have fun" some of us actually want a well polished final build void of most of the problems still in existence with ARMA2(That will never be fixed). And hey I know Bohemia is pretty darn good with being accurate when it comes to kits and gear, but hey we're in a world where it's not that hard to do easy research and make sure things not only make sense but are accurate/authentic, but we still have Hollywood big budget films with dudes wearing jacked up berets, or wearing their flag on the wrong shoulder, or nametape/branch on opposite sides, Private's saluting Sergeant's, and Sergeant's saluting Corporal's...should I go on? Obviously alot of people here are prior service/Veterans and I tell ya speaking for myself, it irritates me to no end when people cant do their darn research and get things right, when there are so many resources available. And me speaking about my observations is a resource, dont like it? Dont respond. Or don't even participate in a forum about ALPHA phase related information/support/bugs/etc. Enjoy the rest of your day, and enjoy the ALPHA
  10. you have exceeded the maximum number of orders per account or IP. If you want to make more purchases please contact support@bistudio.com and we will gladly assist you. occurs when using "Credit Card" as payment option, "PayPal" doesn't give me the error, just a heads up if you're having this issue until it's fixed on the store. I've already sent an email, just though this may be an issue affecting more users than myself, thought someone should be made aware. this happened at 4 minutes after ARMA3 was made available, lol probably didn't make the 500 cut, a shame, it is kind of frustrating that it was not an error on my end. You can sticky this or lock it, I was just trying to be helpful. -CLU
  11. Good to know it's clearing up, maybe it was too much traffic...we'll never know haha.
  12. I believe it's a mixture of both. Most of the time it's something not exactly correct or something that needs to be changed in the server config for dedi's, but speaking for my self and over a dozen others that I know of first hand(we play together often), this just started happening p2p hosting/MP. We can join on dedi's fine though. And this time when it happened I'd hosted the majority of Saturday into the AM of Sunday, and it just randomly stopped working for us, one of my buddies friends got on late and couldn't connect though several of us were already in-game, so I decided to restart the session thinking that we'd been running too long or something, and then nobody could join, then we all started troubleshooting. This happened to me a few times since ARMA 2 came out and then later with OA, usually months later I'd host a non dedi session with some old friends and it would be working fine again, without really changing anything major(hardware-wise). We usually wouldn't care about it much though because at those times, we usually had a regular spot to play on a dedi, or we were renting our own(which we could connect to just fine).
  13. Unfortunately that launch parameter didn't do it for us. Was already tried the same night it randomly occurred, thing is over 15 ppl that played that night tried hosting armory sessions just to see if we could transfer hosting to someone else and maybe do smaller sessions, and not a single person could be connected to by anybody. This is again what's been said over and over since 2009, "it's a Gamespy Issue". Despite this, and how many people run into this issue, threads don't get BIS attention, and then the "other" people come in and talk down on other users(which is up until I merged my BIS Store account to the universal BIS profile deal, I've avoided these forums since I had an acct with an old email back when I was in still in the ARMY @ Bragg, to ask for help with ARMA1 editing, was spoken to in ways nobody would dare speak to me in person, ahhh the wonders of the internet). Or they blame people's hardware for being "junk" or their internet is "junk", rather than facing the issue that it's not just a few people having this problem, it's A LOT of people having this issue, with all kinds of different hardware and net connections. But we're on the eve of ARMA3 so I don't think this issue will ever be remedied, it's been a good run we've all had a blast, but I dont think this issue will ever be resolved by BIS or the real culprit Gamespy(IGN).
  14. Thank you very much, I will give this a shot tonight, I have a custom FOB with a firing range, and some of the simple aircraft, along with a small group of AI OPFOR squads to engage, on the Desert map that I use to train people new to ARMA series, lol I have a few Battlefield converts in my clan who never knew much about ARMA or how awesome it is, so hopefully I can get it working and they can learn the basics before tomorrow as they are pretty much sold on ARMA3. But again thanks for the response and heads up. -CLU

    Arma3 Alpha Testing Checklist

Yeah but those missions would be alot better if you could have the freedom that other editors have, I dont think anyone is asking for a copy of Max or Maya, but we're not all so simple we can't use more advanced tools/kits. Novices are making their own little creations in CE3.SDK(which was used for arguably the most advanced game available now). Not trying to start a debate, I'm just voicing my opinion that 3D editors = much better results. And BIS can't possibly be unaware at how frustrating their 2D Editor "can" be, idk why they ever announced there was going to be a 3D editor(which was met with universal applause from the modding/editing community), if there was ever even a slight doubt that they'd can it. That was the 1 feature I was the most excited about, don't get me wrong- I am very much looking forward to ARMA3 as a whole, but man I was looking forward to the 3D editor, it was such a relief thinking I'd be using it instead of the 2D editor.

Thank you. Hopefully we wont have to do a script just to have an AI go into a building or not spawn on the roof anymore.

    Arma3 Alpha Testing Checklist

That is the most disappointing thing I've heard about ARMA 3, I've been using the 2d editor since OFP and I don't think I can stomach using it much longer. Especially after Crytek released the CE3 SDK. Again though, does anyone have a link? The features page still shows shot's of the 3D Editor : http://www.arma3.com/features
  18. My friends and I are having same issue, we were trying to do a "Farewell to ARMA2" weekend, as we're all getting Alpha release, and everything worked fine, all my custom TDM maps, Coop maps worked fine and I hosted from Thursday night, Friday night, then almost all day Saturday, then out of nowhere nobody could connect to each other regardless of who hosted. We could still connect to dedicated servers though, just none that appeared to be hosted p2p. I don't understand how it just stopped working. I've made zero changes to software or hardware, and same goes for my friends and clanmates. What time Sunday, it may have been Sunday 1am when it happened to us, I'm curious if this is the same issue that came up years ago because of GameSpy issues. ie: NAT Negotiation failed (NNThink - result 2) issue, that are not isolated issues or not widespread enough for BIS to ignore, but here we are on the eve of ARMA 3, and A2:OA is still having NAT issues. Before anyone posts rude comments that talk down to ppl in this thread about this NAT issue, not everyone is stupid like you may think, some like me have tried everything suggested in various threads and videos not restricted to the BIS forums, I've even switched out routers, direct connected through the modem, called ISP to have them reset my connection to the node, etc. All we were trying to do was have a good send off for ARMA2:OA this past weekend because we love the game so much(speaking for myself I've been in love since OFP)

    Arma3 Alpha Testing Checklist

My heart sank a bit when I read in this thread that the 3D Editor is not "yet" included in Alpha. Is there a link to this, I've used search function so forgive me if it's blatantly obvious where this is officially confirmed. Thank you. -CLU
  20. The editor is where I have the most fun, as I usually do I'll place everything possible to view and take note of what I find useful, then start creating bases, missions, all that good stuff. Just really looking forward to it.
