Deleting particle effects in multiplayer
hypnotic_geese posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I did a search for this, but couldn't find anything to help me sanity check the script. I have a script that deals with particle effects for a multiplayer mission, which each player runs with !isDedicated. The sources use createVehicleLocal, but when they are deleted there's only the option to use deleteVehicle, which is AG EG (Arguments Global, Effects Global). Does that mean that when client 1 deletes _particle1 it also gets deleted on client 2's machine, even though _particle1 was created with createVehicleLocal?, or is client 2 protected from client 1's delete commands? I have tested it by running a dedicated client + 2 player clients on one machine - and it seems to work fine (same hardware and no network, so possibly an unfair test) - but I'm still unsure of the behaviour of the deleteVehicle command in this instance. -
The only mission that I'm subscribed to has been deleted from the workshop so I can't go to the page to unsubscribe. It's Altis Resistance by BOOtsy. Is there a way to unsubscribe manually, or am I stuck like this? EDIT: Okay, I was being derpy. I got it. Still a bit silly that I can't do it in game though.

I would like this too. I was half way through making a coop where you invade an enemy airstrip and hijack their UAVs to call out distant artillery targets while everyone else defends against a counter-attack, but got stuck with the incompatible terminal problem. I'm not experienced enough with scripting to hack around it.

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION
hypnotic_geese replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Blufor and Opfor need high capacity transport helicopters like Indfor's 16 seater Mohawk. The community I play in would struggle with the amount of pilots needed to transport each squad + attachments using only 8 seats per helicopter. -
I sometimes play shooters on easy just because I want a casual 'rollercoaster' experience, but I find Arma difficult in exactly the right way. Because it's so open ended - and tactically, it's not about twitch shooting, but instead having the good sense to plan your approach - I keep coming back to the same mission without becoming frustrated when I die. It's nothing like the sadistic NES games of my childhood. :p

Excellent. My computer knowledge is many years behind so it's encouraging to hear. I'm also really hoping that Arma 3 brings a whole load of optimisations to their base code.

I'm in the middle of building my first PC from scratch with a tight budget. The parts may not be the best, and they're already on their way: M5A97 R2.0 AMD FX-6300 Sapphire HD7850 1GB Corsair 2x4GB 1600 1440x900 I'm also curious if anyone uses an FX-6300 and how its performance is in Arma 2. I'm using an Athlon x2 6000+ and NVIDIA 9800 GT, and Arma 2 can make my PC grind and wail. Hoping that at the least I can take the edge off that.

Yeah, this takes me back almost 9 years to when Half-Life 2 was about to be released and I raged hard about Steam. We eventually became good friends after the HL2 disk broke. I can understand why a lot of people would prefer to get a non-Steam version if possible, but some of the backlash in the other thread nearly comes across as hysterical. It's happening though, so I hope the people who are put off (but buy Arma 3 anyway), end up having a painless and happy-fun time.
