    Windows 8

Outdated anti-Windows 8 FUD. 40 million licenses sold in its first month, and over 60 million copies sold so far is not "below expectations", especially if said expectations are nebulous: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-60-million-windows-8-licenses-sold-100-million-app-downloadshttp://www.neowin.net/news/windows-8-has-surpassed-os-x-mountain-lion-in-market-share
  2. You exaggerate. I merely want proof of Dwarden's as of yet unsubstantiated claim.
  3. I don't have to. In the words of Chico Marx, "Never mind, whose confession is this?" That was then, this is now. I am still interested in ArmA2 regardless as the developers actually aren't interested in censoring feedback and isolating themselves from it, unlike a certain sim and developer I've already vented about...

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

Both are good enough, but I would build my own PC to save money and prevent bloatware. You shouldn't need a stronger CPU than the i5-3570K (or the Haswell equivalent if you're willing to wait until June). The GTX 670 delivers 95% of the performance of the GTX 680 for 80% of the price. 240 and 256 GB SSDs have come down in price enough that you could buy one. 16 GB of RAM is overkill unless you are doing video editing.

  6. I'm getting annoyed with this. Evidence, please, to back up your 99% claim. As a potential customer, this topic means something to me.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

Judging by the specs in your signature, you do have room for overclocking your 2500K, up to 4-4.2 GHz if you have 2 fans rigged up to the H2O 620 in a push-pull configuration.

ARMA 3 - still unrealistic optics

Or maybe he's referring to the fact that holographic sights right now have a blue tint to the glass that obscures detail.
  9. I would have gone for a NZXT Source 210/Tempest 210, or a BitFenix Merc Alpha. They have bottom mounted power supplies with bottom vents, allowing you to mount the power supplies with the fan facing down. Not as much side panel ventilation, but excellent top panel ventilation. But hey, if it's what you want, go for the In Win.
  10. The only comment I have to say is about the PSU. Don't bother with the Corsair CX line. Corsair fanboys (or Corbots as I call them) blindly recommend them all over the place just because they have the Corsair logo. Go out on Newegg and you'll find that the CX line has roughly the same track record as the Raidmax RX line-plenty of DOAs and units dying within a year. I'd recommend the Antec Earthwatts Green EA-380D, which has a sterling track record on Newegg, and still has enough power for a GTX 660 if you wanted to use one, although that would be pushing it. Just out of curiosity, what case are you going to use?
  11. If your issue is with the motherboard, that's all you need to replace. The 2500K is all you should need.

I prefer the power of power metal, Sabaton being my favorite.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

The Hyper 212 Evo will easily be able to cool your CPU when overclocked to 4.2 GHz. At that speed, you might not even have to adjust the CPU voltage. And your English is better than the English of a lot of native English speakers, who don't bother writing good English.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

Yep, once you have a Sandy or Ivy Bridge CPU with the -K suffix and a motherboard with the Z77 chipset, overclocking is as simple as adjusting the multiplier and if necessary the voltage.

Yes, and I've heard ASRock cited most commonly as a choice elsewhere as well. Fully agreed.

Are you sure about that? http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174439 Wouldn't want to be in this guy's shoes. For reliability, I've heard that ASRock is pretty good, as is Gigabyte.

    Welcome back Ivan & Martin!

A bit late, but I'm also here to say, welcome home!
  18. It's good, very good. It has issues with a certain unfixed bug and vaporware, but those are forgivable. Its graphics engine is dated, but I like the way it looks, and a new graphics engine is due with the next version in June of next year. Even now, the engine could look worse. Some of the vehicles do have at least partially clickable cockpits (CV 9030/35/Strv 122/Leo 2A4). It can be played with a mouse just fine, and I have no issue. The community, that's another story. The virtual units themselves are alright, but the community in general, I'd rather not talk about it. Thanks for the advice. I'm considering ArmA2, but will wait a while to let me clear my head.
  19. Hello, I've played the armored warfare simulator Steel Beasts Pro PE for years, but have gotten sick of the rotten community and am looking at ArmA 2 for my vehicle fix. My question to you is: When augmented with mods, is ArmA 2 as realistic and immersive for vehicular combat as Steel Beasts Pro PE?

    Steel Beasts Pro PE

I'd like to mention my own experiences with Steel Beasts Pro PE, since I think they need to be known. The simulator itself is excellent, and I only have a few minor issues (flying M88 bug, outdated graphics-but I do have a fondness for some old graphics engines, including this one) with it. It's the toxic community that makes it not worth getting. The community is toxic and xenophobic, luring the few newcomers in just to implicitly bash them, and deludes itself into thinking it isn't on life support. If anyone has hesitancy about getting it because of its price, the members will attack that person and accuse them of lack of commitment. It is lorded over by Nils "Ssnake" Hinrichsen, eSimGames's marketing and sales director, xenophobic manchild extraordinaire, who has lied about Intel CPU designations, falsely accused forum members of racism, screamed at members who try to help him, and essentially admits to lying about the new graphics engine. There's no way to appeal over his head, as all ways to contact eSimGames go through him. No one ever stands up to him, because they are all cowards, and quite a few of them are nearly as bad as he is. They taunt those with low post count, and even outright lie about other simulators while throwing in Steel Beasts sales pitches. Then there's the vaporware. The playable T-72M1 was the Duke Nukem Forever of the sim: it took 6 years to arrive, and there was disappointment when it did show up. The fixes to 25mm and 30mm HE ammunition, the BM8 and BM46 ammunition, the 50x spotting score for the Lemur RWS were all promised in the 2.654 release notes, and not delivered. No quick patch to add them either. The additional T-55 variants which we were promised over 2 years ago are also MIA. Long story short? Not worth it for any price, let alone the $100 for the download only version.
  21. Thanks for letting me know. I'd rant about the Steel Beasts Pro PE community, but I don't think you would want to hear about them. If I'm wrong about that, let me know.
  22. Yes, and I am aware of A.C.E. The thing is, I didn't find anything that helped answer my question, on Youtube or in searching this sub-section of the forum, though I know there's a Steel Beasts topic elsewhere.
