Sitrep: 11.06.2013 INFO: Mod on hold, some texture rework, new features PRECEDENCE: Flash SITUATION It's been a few weeks since I provided any real update on progress so I wanted to let people know where things were at. After some deliberation (and perhaps a bit of procrastination) I've decided to delay a first release until after the beta goes live. This is primarily because the beta will introduce new uniforms, vests, helmets and weapons which I hope to integrate into my mod. On the weapon front, originally I planned to release the mod using community made weapons such as the fantastic HAFM M4 rifle and Christian.1987 MP7, I may still do this but I want to see whats added in the beta first. As much as possible I want to reduce the need for people to download other mods in order to use mine. Either way ill ensure there's a dependency free option. I've used the extra time to rework some of the textures. In particular I've sharpened up the combat Uniform textures both in terms of accurate color representation and in terms of fabric detail. I will eventually release it as a template for others to use, though I must warn it wont be for beginners as it includes many layers and layer settings inc masks. I have the template set up so I can basically create any combination of shirt, pants, boots and glove colour. As a result of this work I have been able to create 14 different variants of the uniform. One feature im working on that im particularly excited about, instead of creating 14 different units (or 28 if you include rolled sleeves vs long sleeve) I've set it up so each unit using the combat uniform will randomly select one of the 14 texture variants. So far its working well though I need to test MP compatibility. On a final note, I have created a new texture for the MH-9 based on the one PurePassion posted. Ill post a picture later.   3. I cant see how this would be possible since im using ARMA 3 models. Thanks for the links. i watched the documentary today. Great doco and very insightful into the history of PMC's. Highly recommend others to watch.

The sand colour might not match up perfectly with FHQ's acessories but importantly they do match up quite well with the BI default accessories which are sand colour e.g the ARCO matches perfectly. By the way GvsE, I just realized I need to do you some new icons for the different variants. Iron sights looking good too ;)
  5. you obviously didnt read the release notes :D It is impossible to combine glasses with glasses. The only way to have the balaclava with glasses is to do them as headgear or edit the original model, and if you did that it would be hard coded. If there was enough interest I could add additional classes to the config to offer them as headgear. That way people have the option of having either balaclava with helmet or balaclava with glasses. But you could never have all three together.

    I think I've worked out what your problem is. Previously I was viewing the item using Dyslexci's gear selector and saw no error. However I just tested by adding it to a unit via "this addheadgear" and I get a missing texture error. Its looking for it in the Oxygen P drive. Seems you've set the texture path to include full drive path. You only need to include path as far as mod folder. Should be an easy fix

  14. Hey, I downloaded the latest version and installed the vanilla config because I dont use FHQ's m4 and accessories. Im getting a missing texture error related to FHQ accessories.

    Yeah I noticed that. Actually pretty much with any face other than white. I'm pretty certain its not possible. The only way around it that I can think of, would be to make goggles as part of the balaclava.
  16. Ha ha, good point! :p Absolutely mate, couldn't agree more, but I wanted peoples input and I enjoy the debate. Blackwater was just a bit of a placeholder until I decided what I wanted to do. The input I've had has helped me decide to go with a fictional PMC. Here's the logo I came up with for my fictional PMC called "PG Services". Pretty basic but does the job and looks alright on hats. First release coming very very soon :)

    I did the same :) I've actually made a number of texture variants I plan on releasing if you want to use them. Take a look here I assumed I needed Kiory's permission before releasing (true?). I've dropped him a message and waiting for his ok, then I'll release.

  20. You've actually hit the nail on the head. As I've said already I only put logos on the gear just for for a bit of branding, I didn't really think too much about realistic representation of the real life blackwater company (which as we know is now called ACADEMI). I should point out that at least some PMC do wear branded gear. Have a look at the website for the PMC Triple Canopy link here. There's various photos of contractors with branded hats and vests. I think its valid for there to be branding on some units. But the real question is whether this mod should be tied to a specific real life PMC. Just to throw it out there, what do people think of going with a fictional PMC? Same as what BIS did with A2OA PMC? That relieves me of any "pressures" (i say that loosely) to present a real life PMC accurately and provides freedom to basically put whatever gear and branding i see fit on the units (which is basically what I've done anyway) :confused: And guys please keep the responses respectful, everyone's got a right to an opinion and I value all input :)

  22. Have a look at my unit and gear unlocked mod (link in my signature), you'll see I unlocked the rangemaster model a while back. And yes this what the bodyguards are using :)
  23. This isn't a bug its completely valid. The mod replaces a few core items e.g underwear of BLUFOR is green and OPFOR black. Because of this even if you dont use new units or clothing it will trigger the mod.
  24. Me too but as i say i have no 3d modeling skills. Unless someone can create me a model i can only use what's available in game
