  1. I had exactly the same problem after installing an SSD.  Steam obviously creates a duplicate temp file when downloading things, so bloody frustrating.   Now I use steam workshop just for CUP terrains and ALiVE.  Keep an Arma store folder on another HDD full of mods from Armaholic/Forums etc.  Import them locally into Arma launcher.   Not the best for auto updates etc, but you know where your mods are and they don't instantaneously fill your SDD/HDD everytime there's an update.

  2. Hi

I resolved this issue by using https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/118907-bushs-geotypical-microterrains-source-files-beginners-guide/  there is a section on setting up Buldozer and adding the keybinds in the P: /users/ config

ps No it didn't work if I went into the Arma 3 game and set up keybinds ingame.  Nether did changing the BD start up parameters to  -buldozer -window -cfg=p:\buldozer.cfg -name=Taumargin

Thanks again bushlurker for a great guide to Microterrains

  3. Update:  Yessssssssssssssssssssss fixed it at last.  Thanks to bushlurker's guide:

Making a terrain in Arma 3 as a beginner is stupendous.  I hope one day I can share my map, but I fear Arma 4 may be around when I do.   :P

ps Thank you bushlurker  :627:  :627:  :627:  :beeeers: and   :dancehead: <<me

  4. This is an excerpt from the 'Boom library' sound effects collection.  I'd check with the library owners for distribution rights before releasing anything.

"The MEDIA LICENSE also forbids any re-distribution method of the CONTENT, through any means, including but not limited to, re-selling, trading, sharing, resampling, mixing, processing, isolating, or embedding into software or hardware of any kind, for the purpose of re-recording or reproduction as part of any free or commercial library of musical and/or sound effect samples and/or articulations, or any form of musical sample or sound effect sample playback system or device."

  5. Hi,

I could really use some help right now, I've been trying to create my first terrain using the Jakerod and friends Atlas guide (which is great).  I've got as far as importing height maps, satelite and mask etc....  Generating layers great.  Then I connect to Buldozer, which loads everything up as it should and I can't move whilst the External viewer displays the rendered terrain.  I have to alt-tab back to TB.

I've read a lot of posts relating to editing the startup parameters, defining in-game Development controls etc but nothing seems to work.  I'd really appreciate any help at all.

    Thanks

  6. Whilst 'running' without any weapons at all, the timing of the character footstep movement sound effect becomes unnatural on all; or most surface types.  Almost hunchback of notre dame in timing  :P.  Apologies if mentioned before or on your to do list and continue your great work.  We could do with a nice 'splash' sound effect (for people like myself who have nothing better to do on a day off) for leaping off the Tanoa docks into the water. :D

  7. Hey,

Great map really enjoyed playing on this, the last couple of nights.  As already mentioned those little green plant's kill my fps too :) but they look so good lol.  I did have a problem with larger vehicles like the AI tanks..path finding, in the narrow streets.  But it didn't bother me that much, just thought I'd mention it.  Top work though, I love the open meadows make for some great firefights. ;)  Great for E and E type missions.

    Thanks

  8. Thanks for Replying

So what your saying is in 3rd person they will appear to sound mono?  Which I guess wouldn't be to bad :/   Is it possible to have two separate volume/amplitude levels for 1st and 3rd person views or is this calculated based on camera distance as you mentioned?  At the moment my 3rd person sounds too loud.  I'll leave the Stereo Emitter alone (BI Wizardry :D) if it's going to screw everything else up.  I see your point regarding changing unit clothing types, didn't consider this but it's a pity it would have made a nice addition to the new sound engine ehem  :P .

Last question I promise ;) why sometimes on the older maps via CUP, All in Arma etc....are there footsteps sound effects occasionally missing for surfaces I thought I had equipped?  If this is specific to CUP,AIA I apologize.  But I get the feeling I'm missing a surface type.  What are the Arma 2 surface types names I am missing.

Thanks for your help and time

  9. Hey LJ, Mega,

I've been working on my own mod which is probably in it's alpha stage.  It's basically a replacement for the character movement, gear, clothing etc.  But with a larger pool of sound effects.

Anyway my question is can either of you think of a reason why the footsteps/gear can't be stereo wav/wss audio files? My thinking behind this is.  I would like to add reflections/reverbs to artificially simulate the environment (dirt, stony, concrete...) based on intensity.  E.g. sprinting is the loudest therefore most heavily affected (or with more reverb/reflection) Similar to Star Wars Battlefront.

My second question is it possible to produce a character specific audio identity?  Or a set of movement sound effects for a specific soldier class?  Ghillie suit (net cloth), Auto rifleman (link, belt), Rifleman (with/without gear)...civillian (no gear) at the moment all the civilians sound the same as my character. :(

    Thanks

p.s. Your new DragonFyre movement sounds <3  LJ in your last video ;)

    • No sound during parachuting (wind, parachute fabric)

+1 I would love to hear this why this isn't standard BIS i don't know.

I'd just like to thank you LJ for your efforts with DF.  I played with your lite version in a milsim group recently and it worked a treat no problems and sounded great.
