  1. Lots of truth there. I am born in Russia, however I am working abroad at the moment, in a dangerous place even, so I am very familiar with what conflicts and political tensions can bring. To me location doesn't matter much, I travel often and world along with it's many countries and cultures reminds of that big and dangerous muddy pass in Lord Of The Rings where some paths are safe and other lead to deep mud or even worse a trap, other than that it all stands between same destinations and since in 21st century people are connected more than ever before borders have less and less meaning. Local scuffles and military conflicts are just a game nowadays. Just like we may place AI bots in a mission editor and press Preview then see what happens, big leaders toss soldiers on the field and play this dangerous game, then later on meet with eachother, have a luxury-filled dinner or whatever and call it a day.
  2. There is a saying that goes like this - One can't untie a tied knot without pulling out the inner strings. Which means that to understand something serious and aging you need to know its roots and cause. The story about Israelis and Muslims in the region is probably best known by none less than Israelis and Muslims there. However the real truth is not hidden, but well camouflaged from public eyes, at least general public eyes. It all started not 10, not 50, not 100 but thousands of years ago, back when religions formed and people lived in unity. Christianity sprung to life, Islam sprung to life, Judism sprung to life. However, pressure populated over time over who will have what, go where and do things. So the 3 major religious groups started to steer away from eachother and become hostile. It was for many years that one side tried to destroy another, mostly via propaganda and war. For example Jews purposely destroyed many scripts of original biblical canon translations, while Muslims did damage to Jews, Christians to Muslims, and so on. It never ends. Today you have Middle Easterns flocking to the West, primarily moving to United States and rotting it from core. While all brave true American/English/German/Whatever soldiers die in middle of nowhere and for no good reason and Europe is set ablaze by poorest of people. The thing is, this was happening all over and over and it wont stop. So next time anyone wonders about any conflict think about it, it's just something that was happening and will happen just like our planet changes poles or year changes seasons, in a way it's nothing new really. People will keep killing people, and while some die others will find a way to entertain themselves with that. IMHO, I don't care who wins, if it was for me, I would supply weaponry to both Jews and Muslims, then have a seat and watch the show unfold, and when dust settles down finish off the winner. That being said I ain't no racist or hater, I'm an opportunist. I have both Jewish and Muslim colleagues and we are cool with eachother, but seriously, if you want to fight then at least accept the fact you will be used for mockery by a superior power and race. I'm a Septugint for those who wonder (if) and to me war is just a game. Anyway, I understand BI is focused on military games/simulators, and that military is linked to politics, but political discussion simply doesn't fit this community as it always leads to fights and most people here are fierce fighters. If you want to rant about who murders whom find a forum dedicated to such low stuff, there are many Zionist/Jihadist/Whateverist organizations who don't have better stuff to do in life. But then again, it's just my opinion.
  3. ArmA 2 uses predefined animations. You can use this to your advantage. Ie when the swimming animation is initiated then add a trigger or make a script to check for it and do a proper action if detected. 1. Player moves. 2. Swimming animation. 3. Trigger/script detects it. 4. Proper action made (Teleportation?) Try Animation Viewer (You can get it on Armaholic) to find the swimming animation.
  4. Very useful thread, thanks. Just what a rookie needs when it comes to scripting and editing :)
  5. Hi all. Seems like I am not the only one who needs good voice actors for his missions. Due to my profession (10+ years of experience) I happen to know a source where you can hire professional voice actors. Elance.com. Been using it for years for many things. Hope someone finds it useful. It's hard to find a free solution. I've tried to find volunteers but with no hope. My alternative to free voice acting is digitally imported speech combined with heavy audio design (effects, pitch, tempo, variables, etc, whatever makes it more natural) so if you don't want to spend loads of money hiring professional voice actors give TTS a try (many free out there). Anyway, back to the main topic. I only recently started making some ArmA 2 missions for MP. Although not necessary, I could use some US English and Russian voice actors (volunteering to) for my future missions. I will also release some missions soon just to show what I can do with editors, audio and graphic design. I don't ask for extremely professional voice acting, as long you have a decent mike, maybe a DIY pop filter and as long you can actually act, you will do the job. I can even add artificial Bass, Treble and all other things that make professional actor appealing. So if you are interested, contact me. After all it's just for fun :)
