That's a good example of the paranoia of the whole 'mass surveillance' misnomer. Those with a lack of knowledge think that every phone call and email is scrutinised by someone when it isn't. They are looking for a tiny fraction of 1% of the meta data they collect (which isn't contents) relating to certain targets.
