    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Inshallah [Insurgency]

I did notice that as well. I took a CSAT airbase, logistics sent troops to reinforced it, did a SP ALiVE save, and it was persistent upon the following game play. Very cool! I'm really enjoying your Tanoa Showcase - you should post up a thread for it.

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Inshallah [Insurgency]

Hello HaV! In regards to the Alive Tanoa showcase - pretty cool campaign so far - quick question about it. As there is no thread here for that campaign in this forum, I figured I'd post here, instead of Steam. The SP Alive save seems functional in your Tanoa Showcase campaign; are there any issues with persistence using Alive saves in SP? I know that typically with your dynamic campaigns, you always suggest SP to be played in MP with Alive server saves - just wondering the change with this one. There is no Spyder addon, so can't recruit or equip in MP/SP for solo play. Also, if I wanted to add Spyder's addon to MP, so I can recruit/equip in MP for solo play, do I just add and sync it to something in the editor? If SP Alive saves are trouble free in this campaign, I might want to add Spyder in SP mode as well, so I can recruit and equip my team as required. This would just be for my solo play - obviously would not share/release. I just started playing your Tanoa campaign, and want to do a long term persistent solo playthrough. So, if any issues or tips, let me know. Thanks for your tremendous work HaV. Been playing your stuff exclusively for awhile now (currently deep into October Skies, 3.5 in-game days - Battle of Sangin, Inshallah as well), I think your campaigns are that good - probably the best dynamic/persistent campaigns out there. Thanks again and Merry Christmas HaV!! DrDetroit

I''ve been playing October Skies for the past several weeks. Very cool campaign I must say. Hmm...I will check it out after dinner tonight. Had no idea! Thanks again!

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-12] October Skies

Yup, Happy Thanksgiving HaV! Do I need to add the backpack to the arsenal or is it already there? If it's not there, is the backpack in the editor? Sorry, not very versed with the mission editor at all. Once you're ready with the new mission, let me know and I'll be happy to give it a go. Thanks HaV!

The mobile respawn would be a real nice feature. Seems my troop are gaining ground inland, i'd love to be able to setup a mobile HQ and spawn from there at game startup. Would save a long walk, as most of my transports are not in camp or destroyed. If you haven't added this yet HoV, I'd like to see if I can get it to work for my solo play. Is it just an entity that I would have to place via the editor? Looking forward to this! I too am SP only, so having multiple bases would be an advantage.

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-12] October Skies

I have no suggestions regarding October Skies, you did a fine job on that one. Again, one of the best Alive missions, IMO. Am October Skies mission type mission on Altis sounds like a great idea. I'd love to give it a try once you've completed it. I'm also very fond of that map as well, a lot of character and variety on Alits. In any event, I'm not sure about portable respawn objects in the vanilla game. I've played a huge DUWS type mission, I forgot the name, that allowed the player to build encampments and checkpoints in order for you and AI hold captured towns. I'm sure that mission had tons of custom scripting though. Good luck with the Altis mission HaV!

Hey, thanks for checking it out HaV. You are probably correct. I will be playing today, and will also do the screen shots to confirm. Again, thanks for the heads up. Good day! DrDetroit

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-12] October Skies

I will try to take screen later this evening or possibly tomorrow, not sure if I'll be jumping on tonight. I'll also try to peek at the Alive modules and see if there is a missing setting somewhere as well. Not sure if either could be the issue. The last time I did a save (this afternoon), I had taken Chernogorsk, then patrolled around the city for 45-min or so to make sure the city was cleared and firmly in Russian control, then promptly did a local save. Once I jumped back into the game after lunch, and Chernogorsk was firmly back in enemy control. Same enemies, located in pretty much the same location, aside from the troop running into town from the north. Russian Command controlled armour units just making it back to the outskirts of town by the time I got there In any event, I'll see what I can find out as well. Thanks again HaV!

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-12] October Skies

Thanks for the reply HaV. Much appreciated. What I'm referring to is when I take the city of Chernogorsk, for example; when it's in my armies full control, as well as fully occupied by Russian forces. I then head north and take over/occupy several other towns and smaller cities. However, when I do a seemingly successful local server save, and enter the save-game later, none of the towns are in my control any longer. I have to take Chernogorsk again, and every town I've previously occupied. Almost as if saving locally is not fully saving the status of the campaign and any progress made previously by occupying new cities/towns and territory. Hope that is a bit more clear on my part. Taking a town a large as Chernogorsk is challenging and time consuming, it gets a bit tedious having to take it back every time. Qurious is this is a quirk with Alive, or maybe a misapplied setting in one of the Alive modules. Thanks again Hav!

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-12] October Skies

This is a really good campaign - one of your best IMHO! It took a bit to get use to the Russian verbiage, vehicles, weapons etc, but it's very well executed and just a blast (literally). Although, it's kind of difficult to differentiate the Russian forces from the Ukrainian forces, since they use nearly the same gear. I notice a few things, as the campaign progresses, that I'm a bit perplexed about. For example; there are markers that pop up in the map that show when a town is captured, however, the markers disappear after a few minutes. What is the best way to check what towns are held by the Russians/Ukrainians? Also, sometimes I see a light green marker on the map that shows 'KIA'; what does that indicate - who is KIA? When I investigate the area there is nothing at the marked spot on the map. What is the best method to hold a town? Do I simply call in reinforcements via commanders table, or is it that there should be manned static emplacements setup around the city? One more thing; sometimes it seems as if enemy emplacements respawn in the same locations upon entering a saved campaign, even after cleared previously. Is this because I hadn't cleared the entire area the first few times? Thanks again for the wonderful work HaV! Fantastic stuff! Good day, DrDetroit

[ALiVE, ACE3, COOP, SP] BRITISH STEEL

Like HaV said, you have to recruit your AI team again. In British Steel, I think it's one of the ammo crates marked on the map, but now that I think of it I may have had to add that in the mission editor...can't remember. I either had to add recruit or the load out manager to the ammo crates where you can recruit...or vise versa. Personally, you should just play Battle of Sangin...it's already setup for solo play and no ACE medical, which is useless in SP, unless you want to be the sole medic. I got British Steel working properly for solo play, but took a bit of time to get rid of the ACE advanced medical so the default medical packs were available.

[ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Battle of Sangin [Insurgency]

Sounds good, thanks for the updates. I will grab the latest and install the pbo's this week before my next play. I've been playing Lythium this evening to see how that progresses. Before the last FATA update I had an incident where I spawned in the base that is right off the northern part of the valley, probably about middle-ish map. Every vehicle blew up on base by the time I spawned in. This seems to happen about 12-hours in game, for Sangin and Fata, at dusk and in the evening. I assumed it's due to the additional reserves spawning into the base and elsewhere on the map. Anyhow, I'll update the Sangin PBO before next play. Thanks again!

[ALiVE, ACE3, COOP, SP] BRITISH STEEL

Start the mission in MP and host a LAN, select the map 'Sangin Summer 5X5', in the next screen select a role (play as Squad Leader) - you can still play solo with AI, just like in SP. Don't play this in SP mode - it will not save persistently properly and will not run optimal. Make sure you have downloaded and installed only the mods required on this first page or on Steam. All of the mods are available in the Steam Workshop. EDIT: as Heros said, download the PBO and install that in your MP folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3 it's much easier to find this way. As for Steam Workshop, try checking C:...Documents\Arma 3\Saved\steam or C:....\Documents\Arma 3\Saved\steamMPMission - and again, I can't say it enough, play in MP even playing solo. Do not play this or HerosandVillaniansOS version in SP as it will not function or save properly.

[ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Battle of Sangin [Insurgency]

Yes, some are the civ vehicles but also are British inventory on base, as well as in the field that are exploding. The last play through, I should have spawned into base Alamo - in South Sangin - I was killed before I spawned in (or as I spawned in) and immediately had the respawn menu pop soon as I entered the map. So that was probably a British LR I had parked near where I saved on base. I'm pretty certain I started a new mission when the latest ALive was released via Steam, as I'm only into my 24-hr in game. My prior save state was like 5-6 days. As for FATA, it's the VA with the Loadout manager. This seems to only happen on the main base in the South Western part of the map, where you spawn when you first enter the mission for the very first time. PS: I'm going to restart the mission from scratch, since I may not have restarted with the most recent Alive release. I did restart when the first major update happened about a week/10 days ago, but I think there was another small update a few days later that I didn't restart the campaign. Will try a new start.

[ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Battle of Sangin [Insurgency]

So, after about 24-hours in game, when the AO is starting to get really heated, I noticed that right as I spawn in for game play, there are dozens of explosions at the outset, I can hear explosions all over the map, and the last time I started the game play (this morning), I was killed by one such explosion and had a 'respawn' screen immediately upon entering the campaign. It seems as if it's an issue with vehicles spawning onto the map; they are possibly either dropping from the sky or spawning on top of each other and exploding. I'll come across these wrecks as I patrol. I notice this in the previous version of FATA as well - although I haven't played more than a few hours of the most current release of FATA. I did notice in the current release of Fata, a persistent ammo/virtual armory pallet issue. It disintegrates within 5-min or so after spawning into the mission, after it smolders for a few minutes. Have you ever had this issue?

[ALiVE, ACE3, COOP, SP] BRITISH STEEL

You need to unpack the PBO, load it into the editor, and go to the Alive Data module in the left hand panel. Double click it and change from save to 'cloud' to save to 'local'. Save the mission in the editor and repack the newly saved PBO and pop it into the proper folder, depending on if Steam Workshop version or the direct Arma game folder. That's it. One thing though; play it in MP, hosting a local LAN. You still have your AI recruits and can use the loadout manager for transferring kits to your AI, as well as your own. It runs better and saves properly in MP. PS: another awesome version of this is HerosandVillansOS version called Battle of Sangin. This one is already setup for SP play, whereas British Steel is more towards the MP guys - it uses ACE medical, which is not SP friendly...your AI team will not heal you or anyone else. Again, play it in MP mode as hosted local LAN for best results. Good luck! DrDetroit

Any Suggestions For A Good First Milsim?

Have you tried any actual campaigns from the Workshop, or posted here in user missions? There is much much more to Arma then just MP mode and shoot 'em up mindless combat like KOTH and such, and the user created campaigns are just fantastic...better than anything you can available anywhere in most cases. Like Battle of Sangin or British Steel, Battle of Lythium/Fata, all of which are persistent insurgency campaigns, taking advantage of Alive mod, with weeks/months of game play, with all kinds of operations taking place throughout the theater by AI platoon - a full on dynamic war basically, where you are just one squad of an entire war effort- patrolling and looking for the insurgents. If you are unsuccessful you're entire army will be over run eventually. Very impressive stuff when you hear and see skirmishes all over the map...or come around a corner you've patrolled 100 times and all of a sudden there is a heavily defended road block...or you're ambushed as you talk to civilians. Just fantastic stuff! Dynamic Recon Ops, Dynamic Combat Ops, Hunter Six, Dynamic Universal War System (many version of such); all of which take advantage of numerous maps, AI team and HQ commander, most of which have a full on dynamic war going on around you. DRO is perfect with the Tanoa map, where you are tasked with recon ops, smaller squad to take out a HVT or destroy certain assets, etc. Then you have scripted campaigns, like Green Draw, Navy Seals:Blood Brothers, and stock campaign, just to name a few. These are very good too, but I prefer the dynamic combat stuff...every evolving AO where you never know what's going to happen. Again, if you are just doing MP modes as you stated, mod up your game and try some SP stuff and get the most out of this game. You're really missing out on 99% of what Arma offers, especially if you're a military buff. Good luck! DrDetroit

[ALiVE, ACE3, COOP, SP] BRITISH STEEL

So I was able to get the local save functional. Thanks for the assistance HoV. Another question; I do like to hear the AI call-outs, as well as my own verbal commands. Which module would I need to alter to enable this? Also, if I remove the ACE modules, does the default medical work again or do I have to enable that in a different module? EDIT: Oh..almost forgot; if I want to enable Load Out manager, do I simply enable it in the current Spyder module that is in the mission, or do I need to place another Spyder Module? Thanks again!

I too play solo with AI squad. Would you suggest I be playing in SP or MP for local saving of campaign?

[ALiVE, ACE3, COOP, SP] BRITISH STEEL

Is the persistence save only possible with dedi server or can we now save with persistence in SP or hosted LAN? Been playing HerosandVillainsOS insurgency missions and just love them all - so well done. A huge bonus is persistence saving with hosted LAN without having to run a dedicated server. Thanks and good day! DrDetroit

    squad inventory improvements needed

Well, there is a mod, I think it's Spyders Addon's load out manager, that will allow to save a setup and transfer that saved setup to your AI squad. So you enter the virtual armory, setup the kit - save in VA (for ease of access for future setups), then save that in the load out manager which you can then transfer to your AI squad. But yea, still a bit of a pain and time consuming.

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Inshallah [Insurgency]

Typically I'll take a Coyote and LR out with an 8man squad. I'll drive vehicle one with 3 AI squad mates, and #2 AI will drive vehicle #2 with the rest...following me in line formation. Anyhow, the AI will man the weapons and deploy them when necessary - usually getting back to camp empty. I'm fairly certain I grabbed the proper ammo, as there is really only one type of belt for the 7.62 HMGs on the rigs. I even grabbed the entire load-out which also had 7.62 ammo cans and 8X belts (both) and still no joy - guns remained empty. I'll mess around with it later tonight, I must be missing a keystroke somewhere. Gotta take the wife out for dinner, then back to business in Sangin...thank God for those Housewife shows and Below Deck, I can disappear while she indulges. Thanks again. Really well done tweaks...the mission were really good before, now just better balancing and acticvity. I can hear a lot going on all over the map with gunfire, explosions...looking forward to further game play.

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Inshallah [Insurgency]

I played Sangin for awhile today and it certainly is an improvement. Much more insurgent activity, and not having to blow up IED and armories is an added bonus. I notice a ton of air activity too...although I need to locate the AA threat that kept taking out the Merlins. Anyhow, my Coyote had run out of ammo and tried to resupply at the logistics station, but even after loading up with proper ammo belts for the HMGs, I was still out of ammo. What's the procedure for adding ammo and fuel to the vehicles? Thanks again! DrDetroit

    [ALiVE, SP/COOP 1-20] Inshallah [Insurgency]

Oh boy, there goes my weekend! Is it OK to use the updated Alive or will it cause issue with your current work? I've been deep into Battle of Sangin and Fata since I found your missions, just wondering if it's a good time to start over with the new ALive? Also, would you suggest the Steam versions of your missions, PBO, or no difference? One more question; which is your favorite? As I stated, I've been playing Sangin and Fata, which are fantastic. Just wondering if I should give Inshallah a go or one of the many other of your insurgency type missions? Been waiting to get into Lythium with the new Alive system...now a good time to do so? Thanks for the fantastic work. My fav long term campaigns! Good day! DrDetroit
  25. I don't think this is the case. I have Apex and still had to DL the 8.9gb.
