    bug on changing render distance ?

    i do find it irrelevant as my point was if i can only see 800m away regardless of any other settings, yet theres a tank say 900m away, why would that tank see me but i cant see that tank ? there where only 2 tanks and i was in one of them, it was the tank that i couldnt see that shot me, it didnt shoot untill i changed the viewing distance btw theres nothing wrong with my video card, not sure why you would even bring it up ?

    my big grip with AI locking tanks is theres no warning, no audible beep, not sure if you get this in RL or not but think it should be in the game so you have a chance to pop smoke and bug out of there, also when your AI get out cause the tank got hit they seem to just stand next to it and not run away from it then end up getting blown up <<<< bug

    but then i dont think ive ever killed an AT guy with a HE or HEAT round that are more than 300 meters away, not for trying though, i normally end up getting out and throwing stones instead

    as not so long ago i was a noobie (probably still am) for me the most over whelming thing about Arma 3 is not knowing what to do in certain conditions and the mind boggling controls, i really felt i needed tutorials on how to play, so unless you know someone who has alot of patience and willing to sit with you for hrs teaching you then i would say show case is the best place to go. . . im a big fan of youtube, one of the reasons why im here, but i would say thats more for advanced users of Arma 3, it doesnt really teach you the basics just my opinion :)

    i love realism, if i shoot someone at 150m they should drop down dead, if i order my team to suppress a target he should stay hidden, but at the same time i play games for enjoyment, think you can have both in a game

    being in the glass industry all my life i can tell you Beagle is correct, glass couldn't cope with the extremes of being a canopy, bird strikes being one factor that glass couldnt cope with, extreme fibrations from fast jets would constantly crack the glass, plus like Beagle said trying to mold laminated glass into a canopy shape would be nearly impossible http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_canopy

    smoke has saved my ass numerous times, also i see tons of vids of ppl using smoke to get out of trouble or when a man is down and there treating him ?
  9. but the game doesnt work as intended, just because its playable doesnt make it acceptable, alot of things are broke and require an update to fix, i was just in a tank with 2 AI not 5 minutes ago, i got out to scan with a UAV and a enemy tank drove past at about 250m's away, even though i had my team on combat mode and 1 was gunner the other commander neither tank made any attempt to fire at each other, thats just one instance, considering there on version 3 im surprised fundamental problems like this even exist anyway think ive made my points fairly clear that there are problems with in some aspects of this game and as a consumer i have a right to express my concerns on these :D
  10. can someone please tell me why so many things dont work how there supposed too for me ? this game is supposed to be set in the future, where i guess its supposed to be more advanced than it is today ? yet when i lock an enemy with a AG missile from a jet it misses, goes straight past as if there vanished and lands 30m past them, i cant seem to get the artillery working either with the laser, ive got my team to fire 5 155mm HE rounds yet they all land as if i asked for it a couple 100m away, does anything work in this game like its supposed to ? the one thing that drew me to this game was military vehicles, just a shame they dont work how there supposed too ive played flight sim games for 20 years plus, i know this isnt a sim, but even the flight dynamics are horrendously way off, in a jet if you bank left or right in a jet its supposed to 'fall off' the wing and turn in the direction, yet i can nearly wing walk and it still goes straight and doesnt even loose altitude, in the helicopters the rudder becomes usless at about 40mph and above, you should be able to flare them at 100mph plus without them climbing a couple hundred meters whilst doing so, you literally have to begin your approach over a couple kilometers back to do a low level approach and landing !! only thing i can think off is they give you a box and its up to you to fancy it up to your liking using mods ?
  11. fare comment my main gripe is, for the past 10-15 years some of my m8s kept saying to me to get off console games and play proper games on the pc, console games are for kids, console games are second to pc games, console games are crap etc, but so far i have to say i couldn't agree at all with them, ive played war flight games on the console from 8 years ago that have better flight dynamics that what ive experienced on here, when i play cod or battlefield everything implemented in the game works like how it should, im not used to buying a game where stuff doesnt work and you have to rely on the community to make mods to fix it, dont get me wrong theres a ton of stuff i love about Arma3, the freedom it gives you to play exactly how you choose to and not play like how the developers want you too, yea the immersion factor is there, but i have added alot of mods to help with that, but if i want to strike a tank with a laser guided bomb or fly a helicopter at 20ft or try to lock an enemy from a kilometer away i should be able too, specially if its in the game, after all you wouldnt go and buy a car that advertises it can carry 5 ppl only to find it can carry's 2 ? guess im one of them ppl that when i spend my money on a product i expect it to work, whether its a game, TV, or Hifi

    i did some test myself on this, i didnt laser the target till after i heard him say rounds away, then i waited another 10secs or so, then i lased the target (for about 10-15secs) and it hit, so dont think the rounds see the laser dot till there in the area, does make a difference if its raining though, thats when i find they miss, but after checking wiki out thats the norm, as the laser is infact a pulse so you can have multiple laser going at once on different targets, guess the rain interferes with the pulse going to try distance of using the laser and see what happens with that, also going to try moving targets as i feel they should still hit interesting you mention the low battery, ive never had that with the laser designator and always make a point of carrying spare batteries so that could save space and weight ---------- Post added at 17:53 ---------- Previous post was at 17:50 ---------- another point i feel needs clarify if if your using AI to man the artillery, who should be in there ? ie what class should be on the gun and does it make a difference to have a commander ?

  14. i do totally agree with you, yes i think alot of ppl me included perhaps want/expect too much from games nowadays, as i said before the flight dynamics i can live with, thats just my personal choice on wanting them better, but to lock a tank with a laser and watch it miss by a couple hundred meters or the same with artillery isnt exceptable, specially when you only have 2 chances with the laser guided, that does take away the realism to a different level, but again, its not going to get fixed just cause it doesnt work for me so i guess another thing i will have to live with or just not bother using

  16. ok so my terminology was wrong but they do the same thing when your banked at 90 degrees in a hard turn the anti-torque peddles can be used to change your altitude, just like in a plane, or at-least thats what ive always believed to happen
  17. yea, the down collective doesn't seem drastic enough, as you haven't got control over the collective and engine torque separately it does make it hard to scrub speed or height as for rudders becoming ineffective at speed, i will disagree alittle with you there, you use the rudder when banking at speed to determine your altitude or to keep your altitude, which is where my concern is, specially the little bird, that should still be agile even at speed but guess that is just something i will get used to lol as for the AGM's they where fired from a modded plane, the F/A 18 E so not sure whether its a problem with the plane mod or not ?
  18. mono uses single channels so it cant determine what channel to use so it uses them all, ie, it would come through both headsets, only when its stereo can it determine single channels therefore use either left, right or both channels depending on where it comes from
  19. you do realize mono sound would make it worse for us right ?, you would hear all sounds in one speaker ? no direction !!, want you really want is 7.1 which means sound is directional, which i feel it kinda is now, i mean i can tell in what direction a aircraft is coming from by the sound, i even here my artillery ive called in flying over head and the sound is directional
  20. ahhh, was gonna say i played just and purposely noticed dead units where not being deleted, makes sense now, how do i play the modified version, i subscribed to you only a week or so ago ? would i have not got the latest version doing so ? found it and trying it now, thanks again for your help on this, appreciate it
  21. i kept hearing ppl say to me get arma 3 its so real and the immersion factor is amazing, so i did, bearing in mind ive come from a console where ive played Cod from the beginning, i must say i wasnt that impressed at first, i just didnt feel that immersion everyone kept talking about, i though it was better on consoles, the sounds on there are so much better, true 7.1, even games like farcry 3 has the immersion factor when it comes to sounds, but i have since added a few sound mods and although its helped for me its still not as good as ive played on the console, hope they will look at this thread and see how much the community want to see change here

    you could have a super computer and struggle to play this game at times, for me its similar to minecraft that i play alot, i know ppl who play that game and have a titan card and struggle at times, think its got to the point where company's are struggling to write code that fits in with the power of current components, or perhaps us consumers are asking too much nowadays
  23. thanks for the reply BigShot ive probably done well over 50 hrs on your scenario, as i said i love it, i must admit though i havent noticed any dead bodys or tanks being deleted, i will keep an eye out for that lol i normally start with my team on 10 but the enemy on 110, this way i get something to shoot at lol, normally 2 zones no more than a 1000m, for me though i feel these settings are right at the bottom end, yet i got a good gaming pc, would love to see a pc that could run this game how you designed the scenario to run lol :D but its bugging me if the AI do get deleted where the frame drop suddenly comes from, for me it doesnt happen gradually, its sudden, as if they just spawned 300 AI somewhere without anyone seeing them, i can start the scenario at 60fps, then after a hr or sometimes 2 i just suddenly drop to 10fps, when this happened last time i saved it, when i tried loading it i had the game crash with the 'Too many virtual memory blocks requested' come up, yet at the time i was capturing 2 zones, all i had was a small fire team with me ? i will try to run this scenario with no mods running (yea i do have alot going) and see what happens and report back to you
  24. i love this scenario, and thanks for all the efforts put into fixing bugs, but one that stands out and i see and read alot of ppl talking about is the lag after a short time of play, its come to a point where ive reduced the amount of enemy bases to 2 and max size is 1000m, yet i still start to experience lag after an hr or so play, im 90% sure the lag is due to dead units, is there any way you can script dead untis to despawn after a set time say 5 mins or so ? would fix a huge problem and make this scenario alot more enjoyable i hava a gaming pc thats more than up for the job, i know arma3 in general is demanding but i really want to spend hrs playing the same scenario and not have to keep restarting keep up the great work thanks :D

Dynamic Universal Was System i love the scenario, probably the best one ive played yet, well at least for an hr or 2, cause after that it becomes unplayable due to lag, ive reduced the enemy bases to 2 and set at 1000m, yes i still get lag, i have a gaming pc, Nvidia GTX770, i7 3.4ghz, 12 gb ram, yet i cant play this mode after an hr or so, even tonight it was so bad after less than an hr i exit'd and saved, but when i tried to load that save again i get this msg after Arma3 has closed on its own 'Too many virtual memory blocks' ? i would understand if i had shot hundreds of enemy units, but the fact there where 4 armor vehicles shot and probably 30-40 or so units, i just dont understand why this game is so demanding and unplayable after such a short time ? is there any scripts/mods i can add the will remove dead units after a set time ?
