    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Yep, several antenna systems are planned.

We're currently overhauling that module. For more advanced naming, please use the API functions.

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Could you please test it again but set the first option in the module "Channels Per Side" to false? If that works, I have an idea where the problem is. Did you try to completely remove and reinstall ACRE2? Or are there any older files in the folder? RHS vehicle attenuation is setup incorrectly and it is already in their tracker -> http://feedback.rhsmods.org/view.php?id=134 You can try to play around with the insideSoundCoef, yeah. But from our side, we won't add any 3rd Party Config fixes.

The term is Duplex Ability and more details are written here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiotelephone As the majority of all military radios don't have a Full-Duplex mode, this is simulated in ACRE2 as well. If you want to enable Full Duplex, you can simply setup your mission with: [true] call acre_api_fnc_setFullDuplex; Further information can be retrieved from our API documentation: http://acre.idi-systems.com/api/api_general.html#acre_api_fnc_setFullDuplex

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

@treadd: Are you using the latest acre2omnibus version? In a previous version we had the issue that the config path was broken if containing spaces. We solved that a while ago. Second most commonly "mistake" is an addition quotation mark at the end of the "config-..." line if using TADST. Previous issues on the same topic: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?182271-ACRE2-Public-Beta-Release&p=2872439&viewfull=1#post2872439 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?182271-ACRE2-Public-Beta-Release&p=2873823&viewfull=1#post2873823 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?182271-ACRE2-Public-Beta-Release&p=2874607&viewfull=1#post2874607

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

The 343 UI will get a complete overhaul. Functionality remains the same, but I'm not the best 3d Artist out there and I've never been happy with the model. But thanks to Hatchet that will change.

He was not on the server config, jay. He talked about the individual user volume control in JVON I guess. And to topic: As JVON is still in beta and development will be speed up after the main work done on ACRE2, it is highly possible to have such a feature in upcoming versions.

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

With JVON no TS is required at all. You simply join a server which is running ACRE2 with JVON. Done. As I said: PTT Key assignment needs to be done once. One can handle ALL the radios with only the channel and volume knobs. Plus: If the server is setup correctly nobody need to select a channel or whatever, as all is preset. If that is the case, you can operate the radio with just your PTT Key. And that all despite the fact that we are simulating the radios with a level of detail which can easily compete with stand-alone Radio Simulators.

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Well, if you tell us how we can make it even more easier than starting the game together with ACRE2 and joining the server (and defining ONE Key at the very first join), go ahead.

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Sure: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/canAdd 77 and 117 got mass = 120. So, there should be enough space in the backpack. They won't even fit in every backpack.

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Which version is used? The line from jnet.log adverts to the previous problems we got with the spaces in config-path. Otherwise the whole path should be claimed. You can try to copy the config to a location without any spaces at all.

Please send me your server setup and configs so I can have a look at it (conversation could be in German, obviously).

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

Like jaynus said: If you pick-up a Radio (e.g. a 152) for the first time (having it assigned by a loadout script is equal to pick-up here), it will be initialized, meaning it will receive an unique ID (e.g. ACRE_PRC152_ID_1) and it will load the exact presets which are defined for your side/group/unit whats-o-ever. So it won't matter if playerA receive the radio via loadout-script or if he picks up the radio from crateA, crateB or the ground. The only thing that will be different: Picking up and already initialized radio from another person. You killed playerB in a decent fight? Well, pick up his radio and the radio will have the exact settings it had when he lost his virtual life. Once again: Radio not assigned (e.g. classname: ACRE_PRC152) Pick-up from playerA (ACRE_PRC152 -> initialize -> ACRE_PRC152_ID_1) Radio will receive the presetData depending on the units assigned preset

As we create the Radios with the goal to do a realistic simulation, all radios cover the frequency ranges they do in reality. E.g. the PRC-148 can send/receive from 30MHz up to 512MHz. That means that by default you CAN intercept any frequency in that range. Now, what are the ways to do prevent the interception of the other sides radio communications? - First: You can easily, via module, set-up different presets for different sides. This means in a nutshell: The 16 Preset Channels on a "eastern" PRC-148 are complete different to those on a "western" PRC-148. Of course, you can still intercept the enemy frequencies by switching through all possible ones. We're talking about a step size of 5kHz, which leaves almost 100k different frequencies. - Second (more advanced): Different encryption options, different squelch modes - Third: Again via module (actually the same as for the different presets), you can define different Babel-Languages per side. You can intercept, but you can't understand. And perhaps the future will bring frequency-hopping, which will add an extra amount of security by changing the frequency about 100 times a second.

What do you mean with "real" backpack radios? There will be no special backpacks with a radio and some kind of magic space, restricted to camouflage-types. Certain radios (e.g. 117 and 77) can only be put in backpacks with enough space. And yes, with Hatchet's amazing stuff, there will be antennas as well: http://i.imgur.com/BQbVcWe.png

1- be aware that the path to server config file must not contain any spaces. That will result in a misconception between JVON Server and Server. What does the .log say? It shall be created as soon as the server is up and running 2- is a consequence of 1
  19. Hi, I want to present an idea (and obviously its realisation) which came across my mind a while ago. It was born out of the strict rule we got in our community not to use the chat. But somehow a text written message may contain more information than a radio call via ACRE or TFAR. So I sat down and started to build my first addon (quite a noob to scripting): The Phone So what is this? Basically it is a texting tool for player to player communication. You can send messages to multiple contacts, share contacts, review received messages... Detailed information is in the manual, which comes with the addon as well: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3xejh2c4114t7wz/Manual.pdf What can't you do with The Phone? In a nutshell: No calls, no pictures, no internet. This won't compete with ACRE/TFAR, but it will somehow expand the possibilities you got in terms of immersion and mission design. E.g. not every guerilla group got state-of-the-art radios in their pocket and now they can communicate via the phone. Credits: Would like to thank my fellow [W]Leon for supporting ideas, testing and motivating words :) And of course my community GruppeW for the inspiring environment. Download: v1.0: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fh4ki91en2fiujj/%40SOL_Mobile.7z Changelog: v1.0: Initial Release Known Bugs: v1.0: Some rpt-entries during initializing. But mostly internal BIS_fnc errors. Thanks for info. Sounds like the current concept of the M2 is not ideal in all aspects.

Oh, I'm german, I'll do anything for beer ;) And how is a full platoon (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/3-21-71/figa-2.gif)supposed to be carried by four IFV?

Outstanding work! I really like the interiors of the BTRs. Especially the periscopes on the BTR60 are awesome, finally one can actually look them. Will the other variants get similar ones as well? And regarding the M2A3: Do you plan to fix the amount of cargo seats? IRL they got 7 seats instead of 6. Would be great.
  23. Nice work. But where exactly is the difference to the debug console in MP?

    ACRE2 Public Beta Release

You are kiddin', right? To be more precise: It shouldn't. But a proper failure report will be helpful Just tested it. Discovered no problems. Obviously you hear two radios beeping but only one radio is sending.
