good to see that after so many years the optimization is still crap...
-
yea its getting ridiculous and I have low hopes for any optimization in the future (they seem to be more content making things like zeus and karts...)

Loving MSO!!!! But Im havign some issues with FPS, Im hosting and whenever I get near a medium sized town with any OPFOR I get 15-20 FPS, my rig is AMD Fx8350 Nvidia GTX660, Samsung SSD, and 8 GB of G-Skill RAM,
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
-
Are you OCd? I have the fx 8120, 1gb video card, 16 gb ram. No SSDPerformance issues and solutions have been highly debated, and seems everyone has different results
However since our setups are similar I'll share my info
I have extensively tested every possible performance option just trying to get max potential from my rig
My best results(and consistent) were when I overclocked my cpu up to 4.0 ghz and beyond. For me this yielded major performance advancements
Have also OCd my video card to 1.1 GHz
I am very happy with A3 gameplay performance, and A2 is even better with these settings
I am no computer expert, just sharing my experience with amd fx cpu
Also what performance options do you use?

Thanks for the replies! I haven't done any OCing but each core in 4 ghz and I have a good SSD and a decent vid card and RAM but for instance, in Arma 2 when I host a MSO over LAN (even jsut by myself) whenever Im in a mid sized village and enemies spawn my FPS goes down to 15-20 and even more in larger towns. I have process lasso and have tried all of the tweaks and alterations but they havent helped unfortunately. I really dont want to buy another CPU but if Arma 3 is going to be anything like Arma 2 they won't optimize it. WHen I play ALIVE missions in Arma 3 I also see massive FPS drops
-
So Im getting pretty frustrated with the AMD FX 8350 I bought 6 months ago and the performance on Arma 2 and Arma 3 (MSO and ALIVE) and Im looking on ways to increase my FPS. Right now my rig is
AMD FX 8350
Nvidia GT660
8 GB G-Skill RAM
2 SSDs (Corsair for OS and Samsung for games)
Would upgrading my MOBO and CPU to an Intel make a large difference? If so what would be my best bet?
Thanks! Just wondering what other people are experiencing

every time I launch LEA I get "an error occurred. Null the application will now close".I installed as admin but Im still having the same issue
Thanks!

fantastic mod! I was jsut wondering if its possible to put detainees in vehicles?

I don't think anyones expecting 100 fps, we just want at least a stable 30 fps which I don't think is an unreasonable thing to ask. Every other game has seemed to be able to it. The evidence of an unoptimized game is changing settings has little to no effect on FPS, the game barely utilizes resources, the extremely low FPS most people experience regardless of what hardware or hardware brands they use, the fact that this thread is 321 pages long, the fact that it's been voted 2300 times on the feed back tracker (and thats just from the people who took the time to register and report feedback)

@OpendomeI'll look into how to adjust civilian types for the next release. I'll also look at the script error (I think that is from COS). I should probably turn random clothing off by default too.
As for frames, try adjusting the number of enemy groups and the group sizes in AO\Preferences.sqf. The ambush, militia and vehicle groups are the most important. You can change POI and Zone groups to zero without too much effect on gameplay. Also, I'll add some caching in a future release, and maybe replace some groups with DAC.
I find the Takistan version has better performance than Altis, and requires less enemy groups for a good game. An early version was on Stratis, I'll update that and include it in the next release.
@ICE_AGE0815
Look three posts above yours.
Thanks for your help bud! I put the POI and zone groups to 0 and it helped. A caching system or DAC would be great! or an integration of ALIVE. I was also thinking a hostage rescue mission (for blufor AI) would be awesome or a HVT to capture. Also one weird thing I notcied was during the rescue mission where one group of players spawns at the crash site, the OPFOR just stand where they spawn and don't really move in.
Thanks!

I have
AMD FX 8350
Nvidia GT 660
8 gb G-Skill RAM
Samsung EVO 840 SSD
and Ive always been looking to get decent/stable FPS instead of high detail and I usually play with VD of about 1000 m and have everything turned off that can be off and most other options adjusted according to http://day0.com.au/forum/arma/638-arma-3-performance-tweaks-and-settings-guide for maximum performance but I still get medicore-poor FPS in many cases (goes down to 15-20 fps in towns especially if there are any OPFOR located in them) and my hardware is barely utilized (usually around 20-25% of CPU and 40% of GPU). Ive also taken my computer into a computer shop to make sure nothing was wrong with my hardware or software and they said everythings working perfectly, Ive also performed benchmarks so I know it's not my hardware. I think one of the biggest things is taht switching setting types (low, medium, high) has little effect on FPS. Im just saying this because I think it's unfair to group everyone who has performance issues with those who max out settings, if I could get Arma 3 to run at an even 30-40 fps but look like Arma 2 i'd be a happy camper, just my opinion
-
I was also wondering if anyone's been able to get decent FPS? I usually get around 20 or so and was wondering if theres a way to boost it (ive already disabled civilians)

Great layout! Thanks for adding this. I was wondering how I can switch the OPFOR faction to CAF Agressors Middle Eastern tribals? I deleted the old OPFOR group and replcaed them with the Tribals and put nul = [this] execVM "AO\Spawn\DefineEnemyMen.sqf"; in the init fields of the group leader and make a second group where I put nul = [this] execVM "AO\Spawn\DefineEnemyLeaders.sqf"; but it seems like it keeps spawning FIA resistance fighters with AKs. pkms, etc. I was also wondering how I can change the civilian faction to the middle eastern civilians from the CAF agressors mod?
EDIT: Nm I disabled the random resistance clothing and it works now :P I am still wondering how to change the civ faction though. Im also getting an error "open addscript_unit.sqf to apply pedestrain script" when trying to say hello to civilians, how do I fix that?
Thanks for your help!

Ive been having a great time with this mod! One weird thing Ive been encountering is my lack of itneraction with surrendered OPFOR, my friends an itneract with them but for some reason Im unable too, why do you think that could be?
Thanks for your help!

Be fair - the engine for watch dogs was written in 2013 : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disrupt_%28game_engine%29There comes a point when you push a technology as far as it can go. It is unreasonable to expect an engine rewrite for a game at this stage in its development.
The most helpful thing we can do is find out when these engine hiccups are occurring and report them.
I do agree that it is frustrating to not really see an improvement in 1.18 and to actually get something that feels less polished than 1.16
Yea for sure I agree, but I thought that RV4 was written in 2013 as well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Virtuality_(game_engine)#Real_Virtuality_4)? My main point with bringing up watchdogs is that multi cores can be utilized effectively and efficiently. Also, there were plenty of 6-8 cores even before 2013 and being such a CPU intensive game you'd think that they would include better CPU core support/optimization
-
yea I think people are just getting frustrated with the lack of optimization being pushed out. I know I'm kind of sick of not having my resources utilized as are others and the fact that this has been a long term issue since Arma 2 but seems to be getting ignored for things like Zeus. I know it's hard to optimize the engine but it's something thats greatly needed and just because something's hard doesn't mean it shouldn't be done, and I know it can be done (many other games have figured it out and games like watch dogs actually recommend 8 cores). Just my two cents
-
I notcied my fps has been much lower and stutters are much more frequent as well, especially within towns
-
the way things are progressing Chernarus is a good candidate, also has realistic layouts and vegetation (deciduous near ocean and coniferous further inland)
-
If your lookign form atmosphere, Clafghan, FATA, Sangin, Hazarcot, and Fallujah are some great ones (off the top of my head) You'll need A3MP but they are definitely worth checking out.

Within the Insurgency mode Im having some issues interacting with surrendered OPFOR (but my team mates can which makes me think its something on my end) is it one of the starup parameters I have going? -cpuCount=8 -high -maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=1000 -noBenchmark -noLogs -noPause -noSplash -world=empty
Thanks!

Amazing mod! I was wondering if there's a plan for camo variants in the work?
Thanks!

Hmm Im having some issues using mods I have used before in LEA. I set it up the same way as I did before (Named, description, version numbers, mod folder, extract directory, etc) but now the same mods that used to work now only show up with a single uniform (Im talking about mas SOF pack, used to get all the uniforms but since I switched to a different SSD its not working). How do I fix this? Just a side not too I removed al the old stuff and started fresh on the new SSD. It also looks like it's missing pictures from all of the items within the addons (which it didn't before) if that helps. Also doesn;t seem to make any difference if I choose within the addon itself to extraxt to/analyze or my external hard drive (which is what I did last time and it worked)
EDIT: I saw MAS DEVGRU in the repository and it turns out it's all the factions so I just used that instead. Im still having the same problem with the PG services PMC mod, any ideas?
Thanks for your help!

So Arma 3 randomly just started minimizing itself whenever I launch it. It's still responding and when I click it I can see the menu for a second then it minimizes itself again. Does anyone know how to fix this? it's super weird

Thanks for your help bud! Those are all things I've already tried and when I host either ALIVE In arma 3 or MSO in arma 2 I get betnwee 10-20 FPS when in any decent sized town/village... so frustrated with this :(
