xenomorph Max Alien - The Xenomorph
HorribleGoat replied to maxjoiner's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Im totally not against enrichment of the game. What I was after with my question was exactly that you don't waste your time in case you have a model that is ripped from a game and you get DMCAd at some point by the maker (or worse). With most of the sites like that you can almost never know if a model made after some popular IP is self made of ripped from a game, especially if the model is free and there is no author listed at all. So if it is a rip you could get into trouble with it is all Im saying. edit: I actually found the model on another site named as Aliens vs. Predator xenomorph. Do with this info what you will. -

Well I hope not but the mesh similarities are a bit too close. It is not a joking matter however. -

Creating Tutorials, Gauging Interest
HorribleGoat replied to scotg's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
While you are possibly already turning away from the tutorial making Id like to share few thoughts to the conversation I felt problematic when money gets involved as I did not previously understand it either and did not consider the idea very deeply. I see another potential problem in Patreoning and paywall regarding to what I said before and I would consider the following as it would be a commercial product/service that you would be offering. -Who would validate your procedures you put into your tutorials? (going back to my example of lot of time spent in Arma Discord debugging issues caused by bad tutorials) -If you make mistakes would you fix them? -Would there be compensation for patreons if such were to happen -Would you compensate those pointing out these mistakes My point being money makes everything a lot more complicated and selling something brings responsibilities. Like accepting donations would possibly be far simpler although definitely more unsure source of compensation, but then again it might turn in some profit too without the immediate responsibilities of selling a product. Its also 5AM and I got to head to bed. In any case, whatever you decide to do, good luck! Arma could definitely use more good tutorials. -

Little more refinement on weighting and the underlying rig. Lot of guesswork involved with this but it looks like it could work.- 353 replies

Creating Tutorials, Gauging Interest
HorribleGoat replied to scotg's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
As long as the video series will also be kept updated if new better ways of doing things come up, or something was missing from them. There has been quite a lot of newb trouble relating to terrain building in Arma that has been sourced to video tutorials that are made poorly and not updated/fixed. People seem to look for video tutorials more often than written ones (not that theres many of those either) so it would be essential they are well made and kept updated. (not that I think its not your goal here, just wanted to voice my concern) -

HorribleGoat replied to HorribleGoat's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun Tested out some stuff with a facial rig I recreated from Arma 3 samples a while ago. It needed a bit of adjustment but from the test results Im pretty confident I can convert A3 facial animations for a new female head skeleton too! Also I am still kicking though have had some trouble with excessive procrastinating.- 353 replies

Lost Dragons - Total Modification Alpha
HorribleGoat replied to HorribleGoat's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The many years old first release is no longer available as it became so old that it did not represent the direction the mod is going properly. Still polishing things so that they work well enough before we can make a new release. Well the assets will be packed into separate pbos but they are built just for our terrain and it is highly possible they dont fit any other terrain at all. (different lighting etc may not work nicely on them for example). Also they are likely not very well compatible with any other assets due to them being fitted for our needs. We cant really take other user into consideration in this matter either as we have very specific needs from our assets.- 420 replies

Optical Camouflage material research
HorribleGoat replied to HorribleGoat's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Have not really come up with anything else related to this. Hiding default characters/objects that dont directly support the refracting shader can be done with different means but they may not look as nice. For example hiding the whole object and attaching another object on top of it that can use the refracting shader.- 59 replies

is jf_tutorial perhaps the JAF tutorial on youtube? If so do not use it. Its not up to date and has lots of misinformation. https://pmc.editing.wiki/doku.php?id=arma3:terrain use this instead

Increase the arma's skeleton
HorribleGoat replied to WebKnight's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS - CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Well the thing is most original work creators here do care about it a lot and those guys are the ones sitting on the knowledge that perhaps could help you out. For us it is a serious matter that sure most mod communities turn blind eye to, but in my opinion that is wrong no matter how good or private your intentions are. This is not the topic to argue about that but you may find it difficult to find help with ripped assets. -
Increase the arma's skeleton
HorribleGoat replied to WebKnight's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS - CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Kudos for trying out new stuff with Arma. You have jumped into the deep end of modding with your quest to rework Arma animations. Your character looks pretty cool, very DarkSoulssy, which unfortunately raises the ugly question is it your original work or ripped from some other game? I ask because this community is not very tolerant for IP theft and so I would advice you against using models from other games and to produce your own. -

Halo 3 Marine and Bravo-Kilos
HorribleGoat replied to morthon's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
To create different sized characters you need to make completely new set of animations for the new sized skeleton you want to use. Arma animations do not scale in engine. Also Arma does not have "blueprints" thats an UE thing. -

Long time no news! Well here's some!! Little teaser of things we've combined from various tests! Still a bit raw here and there.. But you can see where this is going! I highly doubt it. If the server does not have it running, it would not recognize the characters.

~ ArmA 3 Sound Modding 101 ~
HorribleGoat replied to megagoth1702's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Digging more into it I did set the repeat samples to {7136, 12815} which was pretty random take from the middle of the initial "bang". Which repeats just fine. So could it be the low monotonous buzz. Update: Looped another segment around the end of the bang where the monotonous buzz sill has some of the bangs trails mixed in and that too loops perfect. So Im really thinking something about the monotonous never changing buzz looping breaks something. Update II: Ok so from what I gather if the looped segment is all the same continuously something breaks. Maybe some sort of memory corruption or something (No clue whatsoever). Anyhow confirmed it working with buzzing that has just little bit of the bangs trail mixed in and it loops just fine {38432, 39811}. The buzz itself is terrible though, got to figure out something else for the beam. -
