[SP] Don't Kill Josef! A high quality sniper mission.
sproyd replied to sproyd's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
Glad you enjoyed it. v1.1a does have patrolling vehicles (reinforcements) but only if you are detected... Does anyone care to do some testing on v1.1a so we can move to v1.1? let yourself be detected and see if reinforcements come and say hello... EDIT: V1.2a update. No gameplay changes over v1.1a, check changelog. -
What is fundamentally wrong with the underwater combat?
sproyd replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I've never heard of this!!! Nitrogen absorbs into your tissues and only bubbles into your blood stream if you surface (reduce pressure) too quickly in which case you get DCS. I agree with the overall tone of this thread - typically you would not switch to an upright position unless required and no just because you stop kicking doesn't mean you are going to drift into an upright position... the number of times I have taken a sharp breath full of air and gone into this position in order to avoid flattening a reef!!! -
So no video game company on earth is worthy of your esteemed discerning taste is what you are telling us?

Update: Version 1.1a Check OP -
When completing the Showcase missions I see a cool looking animation on screen when tasks are complete. There is also a cool MISSION COMPLETE one as well. However, when playing editor missions my tasks do not have any sort of hint or animation by default - I need to press J and go and check them manually (unless of course there is a trigger where something happens which makes it obvious). How do I get BIS' default animation to play upon completing tasks? Also I noticed BIS showcase missions go straight to briefing screen whereas my missions go straight into the game - how do I make the go to the briefing screen first?

Class cfgidentities for arma 3

what's this? need a login... -
Two things 1) A very minor update to v0.51 - no new content just a few spelling and grammatical fixes. 2) Thanks for the positive feedback - what do you guys want to see next? I only have limited time to work on this incrementally so would like to put it to you what you'd like to see. Custom Loadouts? Briefings? Intros/Outros? Mission Ideas and how to make them? Custom debriefings and mission end texts? In-game hints and pop-up text? This is a democracy after all.

TrackIR for Arma 3, some questions for existing users.
sproyd replied to chrisb's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well unfortunately my new TrackIR 5 birthday present broke within a week, rather the Track Clip Pro broke. Basically the joins that make the TCP adjustable busted and became loose and wobbly (so a view like a bobble-head doll). I shot it off back to Flight Store (UK) and they sent a replacement very quickly no questions asked. Have yet to give it a decent go though I liked what little I've played so far. I found that I was approaching situations with more trepidation like I would in real life rather than running in with tunnel vision. Anyway, props to www.flightstore.co.uk if anyone is considering picking up a TrackIR or any other flight sim peripherals for that matter. -
[SP] Don't Kill Josef! A high quality sniper mission.

The problem is on your end - I'll wager you are using mods. Turn off all of your mods - they break the sniper pack. -

I thought that might be the case but I didn't know whether it was just easy because I knew the patrol route. I'll implement a reinforcement script from the air base once detected which will put pressure on the sniper to hurry. Good to hear there are no bugs to report though on this release. -
Class cfgidentities for arma 3
sproyd replied to Xen0tech's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Would like to know this -
Yes that's perfectly reasonable. Most BCDs have storage areas for stuff (like dive tables). In regards to dive explosives specialists I think that there are explosives that should work underwater for sure so I can see why you'd want to use them.
-
As a diver I disagree. Yes sure there is nothing stopping you opening a backpack underwater but if we are going to go down that route then why don't we also simulate what would happen to a compass, binoculars, ammunition, NVGs, medical supplies etc under 3 bar of pressured salt water. It's not going to be pretty and all your stuff will be f**ked. So I operate on the model that the inventory items are fully sealed off from the water (although in that case it would have to be a vacuum sealed dry bag or your buoyancy would be ruined).

GLT Mod for ArmA 3 - Work in Progress

Truck is excellent - muy bueno!! -
Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming! Great news, today I had some free time and I updated the guide to v0.5. Lots more content and some minor tweaks and fixes. See what you think :)

Check if task = succeeded
sproyd replied to _qor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Sorry to resurrect this post but its one of the first matches on Google when searching this subject. Just to confirm taskCompleted doesn't appear to work in Arma 3 with the new Task Modules. I know this is the A2 forum but the vast majority of quality editing info is under A2 and so most A3 Editors look there first so just thought I'd FYI for everyone reading this and getting frustrated. -
I don't think I'm alone in saying that even though NVs would be better in future, we want to see some old tech that would still exist in the future... you know troops don't always get issued with the most cutting edge gear, and say NATO is in a shiddy financial situation in 20 years time its likely they aren't going to be using cutting edge tech - they could quite possibly be using 10 year old or more tech when it comes to NVGs. SF obviously is a different case. Let's not forget NATO is po'! Sequestration anyone?

Arma 3 - The most tablet friendly game on the market?! Yes I have Arma 3 on tablet!
sproyd replied to sproyd's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes, I have created a basic Arma profile - here is a pic. The only problem is I can't seem to make a button for NUMPAD ENTER to switch to 3rd person mode. Not a big issue but I could always change it in the control settings. A big move joystick on the left, shooting, aiming on the right. I even have a little button above the aim button for switching between collimator/scope (Ctrl + RMB). I get my keyboard dock this weekend though making on screen controls redundant. -
Given all the cool proprietary tech I would love to see some arma 3 figurines, like the McFarlane ones. Even just a diver one, a BLUFOR with MX rifle and OPFOR with their unique camo and helmets. Obviously games that have their own figures are generally cult hits like WOW or halo or MGS and arma isn't there yet (thankfully?) Anyone else think this would be cool? BIS Store opportunity? I would be more inclined to buy this than the current most pad and coffee mug offerings!

Yeah the sound on the SNIPER rifles is awesome - so satisfying. Yes there could be more reverb (audio post-processing) but I love the sample.

Question about Steam - updating .Have limited useage.
sproyd replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I can also verify that this works and when I do fresh Windows installs on my computers I copy my steam common folder to an external HDD and copy it back. You don't need to follow @mecharius' steps above. Just copy the folders across when Steam is off then start it up and it should auto-detect. Any problems, you just right click your game click Properties, Local Files tab, and Verify Integrity of Game Cache. It will check all your files and download only the ones that are busted. Shouldn't use much b/w. Fortunately I have fast, unlimited internet - City woot -
Arma 3 Normal Edition to Digital Deluxe Edition upgrade option?
sproyd replied to ErcanKazaz's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This is such a bummer that they aren't offering this. I haven't had a sudden "change of heart", I tried to purchase Supporter's Edition on Day 1 but the store wouldn't work so after 5 hours of pressing refresh I went to Steam and bought the £20 edition. I'd like to for BIS to benefit from the extra £££ of a supporter edition but I'd also like the future DLC too as this game is shaping up to be a perfect 10! -
Yeah totally. I couldn't buy supporter on launch because of store issues but this makes me want to upgrade my non-supporter to supporter (is that possible yet, the devs said they were looking into it). BIS is value for money gaming, a rarity these days.

Triggers on Destroyed Buildings - Arma 3 Editor Tutorial
sproyd replied to Dreavyn's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I can confirm @Beerkan's way works the easiest (and is visually represented to boot). Before finding this thread I couldn't work out why my trigger wouldn't work and then I realised that I had to place the trigger directly over the building despite already being grouped with it. -
FHQ M4 for Arma 3 (Prerelease)
