Apaches, not F-22s. Somewhat doubt they'd have sent F-22s there between '06-'08, when that thing happened, for several reasons.

Re the current government in Ukraine: Though not democratically elected, it is a legitimate one. It is an interim government, approved by the democratically elected Ukrainian parliament, to head the country until it can be replaced by a democratically elected government. I.e. a whole lot more democratic than e.g. the "government" in Crimea, that consists mostly of people who had gotten the notion that they could fire democratically elected politicians, take their places, and call themselves democratic.

You understand what he's written? Seriously, what is "zakonnoizbrannogo"? Pro tip exe, if you have to use Google translate, don't bother.

What's wrong with you? Poking and kicking the bear? How? Is that when the Ukrainians wanted a leader respecting their will and democracy? Or is it the more common notion, that NATO has done something wrong by allowing former WP states to join? In case you didn't notice, they joined NATO out of their own free will, to avoid being subjected to exactly what Russia is doing to Georgia and Ukraine now. Don't lie. You blame the West for the deaths that would occurr should the legal Ukrainian government attempt to retake control of its own country. You are definitely supporting Putin.

Please travel to Warsaw, and tell the people of that city that the Home Army, which the Russians allowed the Nazis to destroy along with the city, was Communist. I dare you. And for the record, yes, they are Russians. Committing treason doesn't change your ethnicity.

If it's "let's quote the worst source on the Internet" day, let's go ahead and look up "Fascism": Ring a bell with the Putin worshipers?

Pretty sure they'd build a wall against Russia regarding Muslim extremists. See, here in the West, there's a smaller number of them demanding this and that. Then there's Chechnya, a Russian republic. In Chechnya, Sharia law is definitely in place, and the current Chechnyan president openly defends honour killings.

So we're right back to Cold War rethorics, where essentially anything coming from the East is completely detached from reality. Also, did Putin mention when the Chechnyans would get to vote in a referendum about becoming an independent state and joining Saudi Arabia, because that's totally how laws and the world works according to Putin?

So the checklist for attacking checkpoints according to Svoboda is apparently: 1, US dollars, for the checkpoint gift shop 2, Party business card, in case the survivors are interested in voting for them 3, Guns (optional) Why do I have a hard time believing the Russian account of what occurred?

Well, I was referring to the forums. Last time I checked, none of the users who keep linking propaganda "news" like it's cool had access to ICBMs. :p

Let me get this straight: When Assad everything short of actually nukes his population, and goes so far that even Russia and China agree that he doesn't deserve WMD privileges any longer, and has killed over a hundred thousand civilians, the West are aggressive when they contemplate imposing a no fly zone over parts of Syria after maybe 2 years of civil war. But when parts of an interim government in Ukraine ponders the possibility of no longer recognizing Russian as an official language, it's so totally proportionate to in less than a month invade and annex the country?
  14. They're not amphibious AFAIK IRL. These are though ;)

Well, you're right to 1/3. They were forced to destroy some hard drives, but no one was arrested or sent to jail. It also caused a massive international outrage within the entire Western world, and it was top secret intelligence material, as opposed to being vaguely critical of the current British administration. Its funny but i afraid i have to ask, do you have any concept of proportionality? Because those two scenarios are nowhere close to being even vaguely similar.

The difference is that at Maidan, the riot police was literally speaking throwing Molotov cocktails themselves at the demonstrators, as well as other very violent things. And here it is quite obviously people doing Russia's bidding. Like taking over the Crimean parliament, and announcing to the elected MPs that were pro-Ukrainian that they were fired. Because that's how democracy works, right?

    Zeus Feature Request Thread

Make the AI react to planes in the Fire support module. If the AI is walking around on relaxed and a plane strafes them, killing half their squad, they won't give a hoot right now. Add the ability to right click in the 2D and 3D editor, and click on a "Set camera here" and "Set map here" option, sort of slewing the 2D editor the that point, and vice versa. Add a simpler object movement feature, like that in VBS, where you simply drag the object in one of three dimensions without having to hold a key for each of them.

Total BS. No respected organisation has put the Iraq war death toll to 2 millions, or even one. And don't pull any ridiculous one liner about them being biased; When an organisation attributes over 100,000 civilian deaths to the Iraqi war, they're not pro-US. Oh, they were better of with Saddam? If we disregard facts like how the Iran-Iraq war caused far more deaths than the Iraq war, or the WMD genocide of the Kurds that caused over 180,000 civilian deaths directly by the Iraqi regime, it's still idiotic. What you're saying is that if the overthrow of a dictator would cause more deaths than not doing it, nothing should be done. By that logic Great Britain shouldn't have declared war against Germany, because if we'd let Hitler have his way, there'd probably have been less than 73 million deaths.

    Ukraine General

If we divide that by 10, it's true. The population resisted the invaders? Excuse me? Last time I checked, most welcomed the ousting of Saddam, and the people who resisted the invaders were mostly sectarian Shia and Sunni extremists, who are responsible for well over 95% of the civilian deaths. The only ones who can be said to have resisted the invaders on national grounds mostly wound up siding with the invaders against the sectarian groups around '07-'08. And for the record, the last time someone changed European borders with force, it lead to 55 million people dead. So yeah, pretty sure I'm on the right side on this. That's a Churchill quote, regarding appeasing a nation that decided to invade other European countries under the guise of protecting it's ethnic population regardless of which country they lived in, or were citizens of. The irony is overwhelming.

*faceslap* And there we have exactly what maturin mentioned: "They did it, that means we are allowed to do it" isn't behaviour acceptable of children. It certainly isn't acceptable of countries. And besides, maybe the Americans said "well, Russia invaded Poland in '39, so they started it. That means we can invade Iraq". It is such an extremely juvenile perspective on petty mundane things in everyday life, and when you apply it to geopolitics, you hardly come off looking like Einstein. Not to mention that you are positively deranged if you think the invasion of Iraq was anything like the Russian annexation of Crimea. One is about illegally invading a dictatorship that had used WMDs against its own population, and replacing it with a democratic government. The other is about invading a European democracy, and annexing a large portion of its land.

Oh, astonishingly surprising! You get high ratings when your regime takes over the news medias and the judiciary system? Who would've known? Since when do ratings mean he's a good guy? Hitler had great ratings, as did Mussolini. The reason politicians in the Western world have considerably less black and white ratings isn't because they're worse, it's because of the same reason the West is called the Free world. Because we don't imprison you if your newspaper prints an article critical of the government.
  23. scrim

    Ukraine General

Because we'd like to believe that our fellow human beings who live in Russia would actually perhaps one day get up and do something about the regime that is perpetrating serious crimes in your name? Is that too naïve? And seriously, I would not have written the "hint" part if I were you, 'cause you know, that's what you do yourself in every single post you've written in this topic so far.

No. See, over here, even if people are total lunatics, they're free to set up their own news website, and not go to jail after the government shuts it down. In Russia though...

And every single media still available in Russia are directly controlled, overtly or covertly by the Russian regime, and yet I don't see any of the local Russians hesitating about linking to those pages. Oh the irony.
